I know tea and honey are typically a good idea, but does anyone else have any suggestions when it comes to the cough/sore throat thing?

If you have a David's Tea store, try their "throat soother" tea. Me, I like to use Oregano oil cause I get sore throats really bad. It's like 20 bucks for a bottle but it should last you a really long time. You put one drop on your tongue every hour. It's recommended to put the drop in a drink. But the whole drink will taste odd. I just put the drop directly in my mouth, it's a bit like eating a really hot pepper lol. My eyes water, clears the sinuses right up, and pretty much numbs your throat which is great. For a few bucks more you can get it with omega 3 which is good for increasing circulation and reducing inflamation.

Honey has anti inflammation properties so swallow some.

Also I know it irritates it but its always worked well for me. Orange juice.

for my sore throats I slowly swallow orange juice, it stings sometimes, but once you're done, a few minutes later you'll feel a little quieter and at peace.

And for coughs and sore throats stay away from dairy. >(

Thank you for the advice! I'd rather not spend any money, so I'll stick to the OJ I already have to see if that works. Plus the meds I have, which I don't like to take, but they help.

Thanks again!!

Gargling in salt water always helps my throat. For general colds/coughs, I just let it run its course. It's nothing major, so I don't sweat it.

Thanks! I should boil salt water and breathe it in...my dad does that and it works for him.

Good idea!

Echinacea worked wonders for me. Its an organic throat spray. But if you're strapped for cash, good ol' lemon and honey water works too smile
