So this strat I'm like at least 10-2 with against Protoss... it's REALLY strong. One of those losses is due to being greedy/dumb and taking a gold in on XNC and losing to voids; the other loss was due to being outplayed, basically. Sample vid is at the bottom, it includes at least one game (the first one) showcasing the strat.

Strat Overview
- 3 roach rush
- speedling reinforcements
- overlord spotters for sight up ramp to hit units/buildings
- because it is a rush there is NO room for build order error or delay; if this strat fails you, 90% chance it's because your build was sloppy (you forgot your 2nd or 3rd injects, overlord'd too early, etc)

Build Order
- 9 overlord
- 13 pool
- 12 gas
- drone til 15
- do NOT make an overlord now, save minerals
- build queen + roach warren, this will leave you at 16/18
- build one zergling, bringing you to 17/18
- around now you will hit 100 gas, research meta boost
- shortly after you will hit 100 minerals again, build your next overlord
- your overlord/warren will spawn at nearly the same time, build 3 roaches immediately. if you were super efficient, you won't be able to build your 3rd roach for a few seconds because of gas limitations. use this to benchmark how good you are at this build.
- once your three roache sspawn you just rally speedlings to the enemy base until you win ^^. if he invests HEAVILY into cannons and you don't think you can break it, just expand and get a macro advantage.

How to Attack
- Keep your lings near his base until your roaches arrive. DO NOT LOSE ANY LINGS OR OVERLORDS or you lose (at least if you lose an overlord).
- Use roaches to kill the zealot(s) that are blocking your lings. Once his zealots are dead, you basically will have a hugely easy time.
- Use roaches to snipe sentries and stalkers.
- Hotkey lings to 1 and roaches to 2 (or w/e separate hotkeys work for you)
- Attack units as they warp in.
- Try to micro lings away from melee units (probes/zealots) to let your roaches get as many free kills as possible
- Don't let roaches get surrounded by probes/zealots.
- DO NOT FORGET TO INJECT
- Make your rally point into his base once you start attacking to make macro/micro easier on yourself.
- Rally speedlings ONLY, roaches will take farrr too long to reinforce to be useful.

just wondering, what's the timing on this build? more specifically, the 3Roach pop and the Speed upgrade.

Hmm I like the look of this, I'll have to give it a shot.

Doesn't the 5RR let you do this as well, or is this one much faster?

It pretty much does exactly the same thing as the 5RR and the 7RR, but it's earlier.

regardless of which one you do, I'd think you'd end up with the roughly the same outcome.

This early 3 RR might be a bit more effective however, because there is less time for them to react and have defences ready, but I feel like if it fails you're in a really bad game of catch up.

I typically will only do a 5RR followed by a complete cycle of speedlings, and then only continue making speedlings if it's obvious I am going to win, otherwise I feel it's better followed up with heavy droning and an expansion.

which is why I'm questioning the timings. if for example 5RR is slower than 3RR by only 10 seconds then obviously 5RR is the better choice for such a strategy.

The first pair of roaches spawns at 4:20... get to the enemy's base n seconds later, it's really fast. Speed usually finishes as your first big wave of ling reinforcements arrives, I believe.

It's much much stronger than any roach rush that currently exists, the timing is just too strong. Only a very specific warp gate build with strong micro or a fast-cannon + stalker build can defend against it, and even then it's hard.

also, just out of curiosity. do you do this build every game against Protoss on ladder?

currently yeah because i'm experimenting with it and how to transition out of it and how much wasted money on defense I can force a good protoss to spend.

sounds good. got any other similar strats for Zerg/Terran? been looking to farm up a few quick games when I get the chance, and this vs P strat seems pretty easy.

no zvz/tvz i play more reactively from the start with safe fast-gas openers.

I actually just gave this a shot on ladder and it worked awesomely.

Only things I changed a bit, is I added an over pool to get your 11 drone out just a bit faster, and instead of making the first 2 zerglings I make an extra drone.

My only wonder now is how well does this match up against a Forge Fast Expand opening?

I would imagine the cannon D would have to have a glaring weakness to fall to three roaches and a smattering of speedlings. But I'm no expert on Toss timings, so we'll have to get with one of our Templar-ey guildies to partner practice it.

Edit: Lol iPhone for autocorrecting speedlings to spellings.

Well I highly advise you try the build I posted because your build against Forge Fast Expands I'm not sure how well it'll work, but that one definitely beats it because the cannons have to be placed with a high ground advantage, not just sort of visible and rushable by a ling+roach army.
