Keri was bored. She had no idea what she was going to do today, but it seemed as though Daddy and Mommy and 'Ette and Sarah - though she was still in her BCR, the poor dear - and Grampy and Desmon were all avoiding her or something, and she was lonely and bored. So, what else was there to do but go exploring? She liked the bamboo groves that marked her home of the Bamboo Tribe, but they were so boring after awhile! She would go on an adventure, then, and this would be her day. All by her little lonesome, she'd go on an epic adventure and come home and tell Daddy about it and maybe then he'd chill out about being so mean to Desmon about her liking him - because, if you asked her, that was just stupid, since he was really nice and charming and it was really none of Daddy's business. Or Grampy's, since Grampy was also mean. It was hers, and it was Desmon's, and she liked him and he said he liked her!
But that wasn't the point. Oops. She was getting sidetracked! Keri shook her head to get back on topic and looked around. What way should she go first? Her nose stuck out to the left and she nodded. Left seemed like a good way to go! So she started off that way, walking quickly, trying to get out before anyone found her and ruined her plan!
Keri got out of the tribe lands without a hitch, the bamboo forest giving way to a regular forest - having never been this far, she gaped up at the expanse of trees and their leafy beauty. Is this what it looked like outside of Bamboo? /Wow/! It was fabulous. She giggled, elated, sky high with her discovery of beauty. Too excited, she bounded up a low tree branch, jumping higher and higher until there was nothing left for her to climb on. ...
Of course, when she blinked and looked out, she realised she was high up. And though it was beautiful, it was scary. She had never been this high in her life - and she didn't want to get down. So she stayed where she was and laid down, her tail trembling, as she called quietly, "Anyone there?"
Oh no... she thought to herself, What've I got myself into?

Desmon had been holding himself back for some time now. Ever since he had claimed Keri's heart he had been avoiding Shukaku, and Nny. He wondered absently if Keri had even told them yet, and the answer was probably yes. He wouldn't put it past her, then again, he liked it. He wanted people to know that she was his, and he was hers. Because frankly, he adored her entire being. She was all his. However, lately he had been avoiding Bamboo lands. Not to avoid her, hell no, never that, but to think his decision through. If he joined Bamboo he could protect her everyday, watch over her and be beside her. Nana had Yugure, and though Nana was no longer defenseless and alone he would visit her often. It didn't mean he couldn't have a life, too. He wanted to be beside her, and she was the first vixen, or even person that had caught his heart and even made him leave Nana's side.
He loved the girl to death. So, when he woke today and went to find her and couldn't, worry flickered through his heart. The 'Deava was currently flying in the air, looking for his cute, black and pink girl. It was bad enough that the males in her family hated him, but he would hate himself if something happened to her.
Why Keri? He often wondered this. Why that sweet, adorable little girl? He couldn't put his finger on it, or paw if you wanted to be literate, but Keri made him want to go out of his way for her. He wanted to protect her. And now she was missing? Oh. this was not good. She was adorable, but clumsy, and innocent. He wondered to himself how she would fair alone.
'Anyone there?'
A familiar voice cut through his thoughts, wings flipping through the air as he turned around. She wasn't on the ground...so... His eyes locked on a flicker of pink in the tree's, descending slightly.
"Yes?"

Keri blinked when she heard the voice she liked most in the world and started, nearly falling off the branch before she grabbed it tight with her paws and whimpered quietly as she looked around. "Desmon?" Her small, musical voice was wobbly with fear as she looked around for him.
"Desmon, where are you?" She whimpered softly, unable to help it, as she backed toward the trunk of the tree. "Help me... Please."
It was so cowardly, the way she was acting, but she couldn't help it! It was so scary up here! She didn't know how Desmon flew higher than this, she already couldn't think since she was so high up! "I climbed the ... tree."
If she hadn't been embarrassed before, she certainly was now - she hated the fact that her plan had failed so spectacularly already! She had wanted to have a nice story to tell Desmon about her day, not end up getting saved by him before the sun was halfway through the sky. She whimpered quietly to herself, embarrassment more than fear at the height anymore, and she huffed softly at herself. Keri, suck it up! she snapped at herself, This is all your fault! Stop being such a baby!
And, well, if even herself was telling herself to be less of a baby (if that made any sense to anyone but herself!), she needed to be one! She resolved to stop whimpering and shook her head without falling out of the tree - a feat indeed - and looked around. "And I'm stuck. So... Please help me?"

Desmon eyed Keri, nearly smiling had she not be in danger. She was just so cute! However, he was worried right now, and her cat like stance on the tree was hardly going to keep her on it for long. He knew if he didn't act soon she'd fall in seconds. Quickly, he maneuvered closer, smiling softly and reassuringly at her.
"Okay, it's okay, I'm here now." He whispered. She sounded so afraid, all he wanted to do was protect her. Calmly, he moved closer, wrapping his paws around her waist and gently lifting her off the tree. He pulled her against his chest and descended to the ground, putting her down gently before landing beside her.
She had been so afraid, her eyes huge and body almost trembling. He nestled beside her, licking her cheek. "What was going through your head? What if you fell? I'm glad you didn't... Were you trying to explore?" He was sure he knew her best, and was sure the pink and black cutey had decided it would be fun to explore, which resulted climbing a tree. He shook his head, bumping his hip against her.
"I'm sorry I've been not around, but doesn't mean climb tree's, love." He was slightly amused now, now that the danger was gone and she was safe on all four feet, firmly on the ground.

"Eeep!" She squeaked when he picked her up, curling as close as she could to him and closing her eyes to ignore how high it was and not flail in his grip, making it harder on him. When she felt her feet touch the ground, her eyes opened again and she nestled closer into him, each breath ending in a soft whimper as she tried to calm down from her near panic attack. Only a little bit of her brain was listening to what he was saying, the rest of her was just curled up into him, appreciating the solidarity of the ground and of him.
Underneath her black fur, she coloured when she realised he had picked the exact reason she'd climbed the tree. "S-sorry.." She mumbled softly, nuzzling into him all the more. "It was s-scary, Desmon!"
She shook her head, pink ear tips shaking as she did so. "Sorry.. I know it was s-silly... But I wanted to go somewhere today! Everyone was gone and I..." She paused to paw shyly at the ground, hiding her face in his side, "I was lonely. So I wanted... to have a story to tell you when you came back! About what I did."
Keri screwed up her face a little and sighed, "But all I did was get stuck in a tree and have to be saved."
When she really thought about what he said - about getting hurt - she realised that she really could have fallen out of the tree or something similar, and then she would have worried Mommy and Daddy and Grampy - and oh, hell, the rest of her family and Desmon! "Oh..." She mumbled softly, hiding her face even more. "Thank you so much for saving me, Desmon..."

Desmon sighed, nuzzling into her. Fine, well, she was aware she could have gotten hurt. Oh, how did someone that was guarded by her father, grandfather, and Desmon get stuck in a tree? He felt a little bad, leaving her on her own, but it couldn't be helped until her family accepted him. Her whimpers worried the male, pressing his cheek against hers and sighing once more.
"I know I know. Next time, be more careful." He snuggled his girl, wrapping his tail around her. Oh, oh jeez, was she cute on purpose? He touched her paw, laughing softly.
"A story? Oh Keri, I wouldn't care if you told me you sat on your cute butt all day, anything you do makes me smile." He chuckled once more, happy to be holding the beautiful dark vixen once more, without daddy Nny or grandfather Shu coming to tear his ears off.
Speaking of, how amusing it would be if they came at this time. No, scratch that, they'd blame him for Keri being in a tree. "Of course I saved you, you're my girl."

Keri shivered as she kept thinking about getting hurt, relaxing when his tail curled around her, and she beamed up at him, "Okay, I'll be more careful next time, Desmon~!"
She was still scared and a little shaken up by her near-injury experiencing event in that tree, but she was making an effort to act more normal so she didn't worry him more than she already had. She nuzzled into his cheek and licked it affectionately, humming quietly. "Well! I don't want to sit on my butt - which is NOT cute, Mister! - so we should go exploring together."
She paused, but after a moment, she made sure to add, "On the ground."
Of course, when he called Keri his girl, her face lit up more than it already had, and she giggled before darting up from him, "Well then! You'd better come with me to explore, in case I need anymore saving, mister manly man!"
She waggled her butt as she pranced away, knowing he'd follow soon after her - and if not, then she'd turn back eventually, but she was determined to go on this mission, to find something pretty to take home, and she'd find it before the day was out! She knew she would.

Desmon laughed at her hyperactive self, shaking his head. Even after a near-death experience she was jumping around. He laughed good naturally, standing when she bounced away and stretching his wings. "Yes yes, on the ground." He mused, tail flicking. Sometimes he wished he could bring Keri into the sky, but he didn't want to risk harming her. What if he dropped her? Or she became scared? No, anyway, she had just been dangling from a tree!
Adventures, oh the adventures. He wondered absently if he had told her his past, if she would judge him for his ways when he was younger. Maybe he should, maybe he should tell her about his ex-hitman past. Yet, if it meant losing Keri was it worth it? Yes, because trust was something people needed to truly care for one another.
As she padded ahead he followed, quickly brushing against her side and smiling at her. She knew of Nana, he believed he had told her, but had he told her all of it? Perhaps. "Keri, have I told you my background?"

"Your background?" Keri tilted her head cutely, ears flicking. "Nope, no siree, Desmon."
Her grey eyes flickered in curiosity as she turned to watch him, sitting down resolutely. "Let's have story time, Desmon? Won't you tell me?"
Though her tone was light as ever, her stubborn determination had kicked in and she wasn't about to budge one single, solitary inch until Desmon told her why he'd brought it up! Surely there was an interesting and captivating story, one that'd make her love him even more, and she was not going to miss it. "Is it another story like Nana?"
Though she had nothing against that fox, she could not help but be jealous, she wanted to steal Desmon's all like that sometimes, but it passed as quick as a summer gust of wind and she was just smiling, just happy. "Tell me, will you? Please!" She pawed excitedly at his feet, eager to learn more about her beloved, finding him so very much more interesting than her own tribe life.

Desmon laughed, shaking his head before nodding at his princess. How could he deny her? Wait, when was he going to? He bumped noses with her, pausing to get his facts straight before shaking his head.
"Like Nana? We have different pasts. While she had a father I had neither a father nor a mother. I woke in winter, and grew up hating orders of any sort because I had never had to follow any, I'd always defy anyone that tried to take me home and make me their son." He paused at this, ear flicking before growing solemn.
"I was collected by a tribe of hitmen. They raised me, but I had a tough childhood and often ended tiff's with a snap here or a burn there. I fled the tribe, deciding I wanted my own life. I ended up taking jobs they had just to amuse myself, though, I understood it was wrong. My last assignment was to assassinate Nana, though, as we see now, I could not. I quit for her, and so did Tithe, a fellow ex-hunter as well."
He pondered on whether she would judge him for what he had done to people. Would she be disgusted? This was Keri, did she even have it in her?

"Oh.." Keri breathed softly, processing for a minute. No matter what she did she couldn't reconcile the idea of Desmon killing other foxes - but he seemed true, like he meant it, and he didn't seem to want to just scare her. She was silent, but she didn't move away, she folded herself under his wing and rested her chin on his side, all lightness gone from her -- but there wasn't any hatred, nor disgust, nor anything of the sort. Her pale pink tongue flicked into his fur, reassuringly, almost, and she buried her muzzle there. "I'm sorry, Desmon.. That you had to grow up that way."
Because what else was there to say? She didn't hate him. She might not approve of what he had done, but it didn't change that Desmon was still Desmon; he was telling the truth now and he hadn't lied to her throughout their friendship and now relationship, she could tell that much. So if Desmon was still the same person she'd always known, just with a darker past than she'd imagined, what would it do to shove him away? She would just betray his trust and she would rather suffer miserable things than do that. "I'm very glad you stopped..."
She paused, then continued, "And I trust you. Because nothing changed. It didn't revise everything that's happened between - between ... us, after all." She frowned, then looked at him. "And I won't tell anyone. Daddy and Grandpa would take me away from you and I'd rather jump off the tree you saved me from than do that." She was serious, she knew, but it was still somewhat comical sounding from her. "Thank you, Desmon, for telling me.."
She paused, then smiled. "Shall we go? We have an adventure unplanned ahead of us still..." It didn't exactly take someone as intuitive as Keri happened to be to realise that this was a sensitive subject for Desmon, one that he did not tell many people, and of the trust it took for him to confide in her; she didn't want to dwell on it, to give a bad impression; it was important in the sense that it shaped Desmon, it delivered him to her, but she wouldn't let it colour her perception of him -- at least, she'd let it do as little damage as she could. Desmon was too important to lose over a bit of history that he said (and she, perhaps foolishly and naively, but she had never been raised to be any different, believed) he was no longer a part of.

Desmon was silent as she seemed to think over his story, tail flicking idly side to side. If she could not accept him for who he was he would leave, his wings would unfurl and he would be gone before she could even turn to take back her words. However, the lick on his side caused the 'Deava to blink at her, tail flicking once more, stirring leaves by his body. He turned to look at the vixen when she apologized, eyes narrowing as he shook his head.
"It couldn't be helped." He hummed, seeming to grow tense. Was this alright to talk to Keri about? How did he know he hadn't just scared her off? He let her ponder further, blinking at the comment of her being glad. He didn't respond to that fact, wondering what she would say if he hadn't. He was now a loyal body-guard. He did not have his previous life anymore.
'And I trust you.'
Did she? The man that had killed before as a job? As something he accepted as life. He wondered what she understood about the world, if she could even compare him to anything. Why did she trust him?
"Hm?" He was cut from his thoughts when she mentioned an adventure, smiling at the vixen and standing, spreading his wings. "Lets go then."
