You would LOVE Terry Pratchett!! He has your kind of randomness. His series is called "the Discworld" series, because his world is a flat disc riding on a turtles back, in "The Color of Magic" which is book one, at the end of the book the main characters end up in a pod launched off the end of the world, destined to fly under the turtle to determine what gender it is.

Whoa... this thread hasn't been posted in for 6 months... o.O
Yeah, Pendragon's about a boy who travels to different worlds through gates and has to stop Saint Dane from ruining them. Saint Dane would be a cooler bad guy if he didn't become bald. sad
