Curious to know if anyone's played a board game called Cosmic Encounters.

Never heard of it! But I read an article the other day that some boardgame called The Settlers of Catan is the next big thing (as far as boardgames can be the next big thing).

I was introduced to Settlers my freshman year of college and fell in love. I got Cosmic Encounter for christmas (because I always get board games for christmas, even now) and love playing that too. It has excellent re playability because of the race cards alter the entire dynamic of the gameplay.

3nodding The expansion pack for Cosmic Encounters is wonderful, so I recommend it if you have the money. I personally can't wait for the next one to come out in the next month or two. New cards, new races, and I think another colour. It's crazy getting seven people together for that game, adding one more... whee

can you buy Settlers somewhere other than online?

i fear my data got swiped during my last purchase (i had some serious overdrafts my card warned me about and they were all bogus)

so i would rather go and buy it in person

3nodding Definitely. I've seen it in both of the nearest gaming stores, down in Amarillo. TX. If someplace sells DnD and the like, they generally also carry board games, like Settlers.
