Everlasting Radiance x-xblackened-romancex-x TENOR SAXES RULE. just sayin~ <3 it took an entire week of band camp for my instructor to decide to put me in the low brass section instead of alto sax's because my part was the same as the baritone part. :b im the only chick... but its ok. i get a lot of compliments for it. (: i cant wait to be a senior and be the only girl, only tenor, AND the section leader<3 Low brass? Seriously, why do we always get lumped with them, we are far too awesome to be considered "brass" instruments. lol In my band, were lumped with the altos as a saxophone section, but we tune with the brass.

I've heard of being put with the low brass. But I think that should only happen when the woodwind section, particularly altos, is MASSIVE without tenors. In my band, tenor saxes are just part of the overall saxophone section. We kind of dominated it, too. Hooray for tenor sax.

First, I play Bass Clarinet, and two... You for got the Contra-Bass Clarinet. It's like the mother effer of Clarinet's. It's like three of four feet tall, is quite heavy and seemingly hard to play. (Smallest: Alto Clarinet. Medeum: Bass clarinet. Largest: Contra-Bass Clarinet)I am playing that next year for school. My band teacher has four of them, along with the rest of the clarinet family. I have never seen a bigger Clarinet. I have named my Clarinet, Phillip. My Bass Clarinet, Frank. And my soon to be Contra-Bass Clarinet, Mr. Shwortzin. (My band teacher is Mr. Swanson. HeeHee)

I <3 The Bass clarinet!!!
Anywho I was wondering if there were anyother bass clarinet players who marched it (or others who know of people that do). I'm the only bass clarinet who marches in my band, and I haven't anyothers yet D;

I play bass clarinet in band, but Swanny (our band director) makes me play the regular clarinet. Even though there are two freshman guys playing bass during the games. I guess by default. I also play clarinet in Jazz band (the only one!) but while playing a song in the upper octive, swanny was not happy at my high pitched playing, so now I play bass clarinet in Jazz, taking the place as second tenor. Plus I'm the only bass clarinet in Wind Symphony, sinse the bass from last year flaked out and plays clarinet now. So I know what it's like being the only one.

OMG, my band is pissing me off so badly.
I'm the only bass clarinet in our band, but I really want to play the contrabass, because it's just the most awesomist thing in the world. But Swanny says no, because we need a bass clarinet. The second bass clarinet from last year bailed on me and plays regular clarinet, and i'm not the only one pissed off. Swanny's even talked to him but nothing. If we can get this guy to play bass, then I swanny said I can play contrabass. But no, and nobody else is stepping up to it, even though swanny said openly to the class we need another Bass Clarinet.
Okay, today, I over heard one of our alto sax players talking to swanny about an Alto Clarinet!! Seriously! And later I saw him walking down the halls with it. I was soooo pissed off. We need another bass clarinet, not an alto! It's just not right, and where is that guy going to sit? I'm at the end of the second row, right next to the bassoon and berris. Where is he going to fit in? I am so not willing to share my section wiht and Alto Clarinet. that is not a bass instrument, it's just confused. And if he is coming to our section (of low woodwinds) I am his section leader weither he likes it or not. So now, all we need is said boy to come back to the bass clarinet and I can have my all mighty contrabass (which I have already rented from the school and payed for), then I will be happy, just sitting there (on a stool cause the contra is so damn tall!!!!), the king of the low wood winds!

Hey I'm a Huge Band nerd. Going to band is the absolute highlight of my day! I play Tenor saxophone but I originally played Alto but switched to fill the needs of the band and because it's way more fun. I am in the top band and I'm also the only tenor in our band sadly but on the bright side of that I get lots of solo's and special parts! I just finished regional band and I am working on my solo for solo and ensemble.
I plan on joining marching band next year! I could use tips if anyone has them. I can't wait to start posting with y'all.
