Well, with record lows to be expected tomorrow, I was wondering if you guys had any horrible stories from the cold, bitter months of winter.

I've got one. When I was younger, my sister and I would dare each other to walk/run over black ice. One time I slid awkwardly and did a split. Now, take note that I am not a very flexible guy, so that stung. I had the most awkward little walk trying to get home. >>;;

What about all of you?

Feel free to share some good ones, too. sweatdrop

A few months ago was the snowpocalypse of 2011. Georgia had not seen this much snow in decades. Everything was shut down including classes. That was awesome, but the threat of loosing spring break and being cooped up in a dorm for a week was not. When we went to eat we had to walk up a hill that was covered in ice. The first couple of times we managed to make it except for when I slid backwards down the hill. After awhile, we gave up and ordered pizza. It was a fun week but now it's getting to warm to have a chance of that ever happening again. ;O;

Truth-- I have worked every snow storm we've had. I suspect that means we won't get snow in Jersey until Thursday, since I am off Tuesday and Wednesday-- sometimes it seems like the snow holds off waiting for me.

Once...six or seven years ago, we had a huge ice storm.
My brother forgot his house key that day, and when I got home we were locked outside in the cold for two hours while we waited for my mom to get there. When we got inside, the power was out.
It was out for an entire week. No school, no power. We didn't have a generator than, and most of the days and nights were spent bailing out the sump pump. We had to sleep in the living room, next to the fire, because the temperature was ten below. Frozen items had to be removed form the fridge and freezer and were kept outside.

So~ Basically we lived off lanterns and were lucky my mom had grocery shopped earlier that week. *Shrugs* It was pretty neat actually, like going to a cabin with no power. Though bailing the sump pump every few hours is an utter pain. Sleeping in front of the fire in our warmest sleeping bags we pretty neat. We got to toast marshmallows, and me and my brother played a lot of card games.

Oh man the stories I could tell. I used to live in Wyoming when I was younger, and it's crazy with snow there! Basically the snow falls sideways and whips around so fast it blinds you, and as most of my friends know it blows so hard that now I walk sideways, seriously. My story would be whenever we got snow it would fall off our roof every now and then and create this giant snow drift in front of our garage. One day I convinced my brother we should walk over it, I made it through but my brother fell into it, and since he's so short he went allllll the way down and got stuck. I'm a good sister (lol) and ran and got mom and dad....but I was in so much trouble lol!
