Currently I stand to lose just about EVERYTHING that I own. Hermits, geckos, aquariums, HOME, everything... I got laid off right before Christmas, and despite averaging 4 applications a day I am getting 0 call backs. I have a total of 9$ in my checking account, and I'm 53$ away from being maxed out on a 1700$ limit credit card, because I've had no other way to pay bills.

The fiance is covering as much as he can... But even with that we're short 200$ for rent that is due the first, and he doesn't get paid again until the 7th of January. We could quite possibly be evicted. And it's not even our fault, I didn't do anything to lose my job other than have a couple of really snowy days that turned my VOIP internet connection to s**t, where I couldn't log in and go to work. So they terminated me.

I can't file unemployment in the state I'm living in, because I didn't move until July and the cut off would have been June for wages to start showing up. So I have to file unemployment in Illinois, which is a pain because I filled out the paperwork for that in December and they keep doing phone interviews with me. If it doesn't come through I'll be on the streets. Hopefully this next interview they will make a decision and I'll know. God I hope I figure this out soon.

I only moved because I had a job, had 4k in savings, and would be ok, but then they cut my hours to the point I was paying an hour's worth of $$ just to get to work, and bringing home 3 hours of pay 2 or 3 days a week.

Needless to say I'm terrified... I've never been in a position like this before. I'm even debating going behind my fiance's back and selling my necklaces, which would seriously piss him off.

Damn. No s**t your terrified.

I would keep sending out job applications as much as possible. It's better than doing nothing.

keep calling those places your applying to and bug them to look at your application

i would talk with your fiance about maybe selling some jewelery, or at least put some things to the side to sell if it comes down to it

i hope you find a job soon. we were almost kicked out of the apartment because we couldnt pay rent last month becausethe fiance's old job forgot to send us his last paycheck. and that was scary enough, i cant even imagine what you must be feeling right now

can your family or friends lend you any money?

Well I've been doing phone interviews weekly with the Illinois unemployment office, while they try to decide if I'm eligible for the benefits. Which I should be. It was a shoddy internet connection that got me fired, not anything that I did.

I've spoken to my fiance about selling jewelry, He's agreed to my selling off one necklace, simply because it's from my ex. When I mentioned selling off my opal necklace and ring, I was told quite firmly NO. I've even applied to subway, carl's jr [hardees] and a few other fast food places, and am getting nothing back. I've been calling multiple places, I even applied to PETCO! *tries not to shudder in absolute revulsion*

Yikes! Go to gigs on CL and see if there's anything on there that you can do. It's where people post odd jobs or modeling things or what have you. That'll help for finding the $200 you need and other than that just keep looking for a job.

its a really tough economy and even the fast food places can afford to be picky with who they hire.

i wish you alot of luck

Have you contacted any employment agencies? I was told by the people at unemployment that that is how business are hiring these days. So many people are looking for work that the businesses don't feel they need to go through all the applications, they just call an agency. A friend of mine works for a temp agency and gets jobs from time to time but still collects unemployment. Good Luck.

I've contacted employment services, I've contacted unemployment, I've been searching multiple job sites daily... It's hard to find anything.

And they can fire me for a bad internet connection, as that effects attendence.
