As they made their way towards the game trails he made sure, with the help of Chivosi that the group moved slowly, that way they would be able to see if any elk were in the area instead of suddenly stumbling upon them and throwing the group into a hectic hunt just to get their quarry. "It wasn't far from here I saw that elk last night." He told Chivosi and there were a few fresh hoof marks here and there as they came closer to the game trail. The wind was in their favor as well, blowing their scents back towards where they had come from. If all went well they would be able to come upon the elk without them noticing the arrival of the wolves.Mavican had been ready to follow her mothers group as they broke off not because she had forgotten she was assigned to the other group, but because it was instinct to go with her mother during training. So when Galahad quickly turned her around she smiled and wagged her tail. "Sorry!" And with that she happily trotted after the others. Of course she was wondering what they were doing. She knew there was a reason for the pack to have traveled so far, but be damned if she could remember it. Oh well, she thought as they moved along through the forest her tail happily wagging behind her like always, she would find would at some point.

He shouldn't have come - Verse was growing more and more convinced of that fact the farther they traveled...even a step away from Aleu seemed like too much at a time like this..but it wasn't like he could turn back now! The only thing he supposed he could do was make the hunt successful as fast as possible and still mentally fretting about leaving Aleu behind like he had he started to cast about for the scent of an elk, though to be truthful with his mind so preoccupied he would be hardpressed to actually notice if he found it.
Derecho was somewhat amused by Verse as he jerkily tottered about in what looked like a drugged attempt to hurry up and find an elk scent. Of course he'd have probably done the same if he had left Terreis for so long when she was so close - heck he'd nearly missed his sons birth and he'd only been a little ways away at the time!
Feeling a small amount of obligation to his brother through love and with Galahad apparently keeping Mavican on track - mostly - Derecho trotted off to help Verse "Don't worry" He assured the other wolf "she'll be fine and we'll be home in no time...no time at all"
Camille was somewhat disappointed - most of the boys had been assigned to the other group, all of them except Tantalus and she was stuck with her scatterbrained sister. Tantalus she decided would have to do and padding up beside the black and white wolf she gave him a silky look "Tan..." she greeted him in a pretty voice while batting her eyelashes at him "can you help me look for an elk?"
Chivosi was somewhat amused by the antics of her group - she'd done her bes to separate those she thought might be troublesome...Tan and Arii for example would have been a recipe for disaster..and yet he was likely the one boy most capable of dealing with Camille's advances...and Mavican..well Mavican was best kept where she could really watch her.
Still it did make for an interesting hunting group and she would honestly be surprised if they pulled this off without a whole lot of mistakes - of course making such mistakes was the whole point of this hunt so she didn't mind to much.
At Galahads words she nodded "Everyone keep sharp, I think we're getting close" She told them all quietly as they came across the game trail. "Spread out and look for something fresher..but stay within hearing distance" She instructed.

 This was lame. He had been hoping at least Apollo would be around, but no. Stuck with two of the girls, the frantic Verse, some unknown guy who saved Arii's a**, and . . . well he guessed it wasn't so bad with Dad. That was who he was by when Camille made her advances, about the same time Derecho moved to comfort Verse.
Tantalus admitted he thought she was the prettiest of the trio. It didn't mean he'd fall to her sweet words. "We're all looking for an elk," he stated without looking at her. "Do it yourself."
This of course with him planning to team up with his dad to find the elk first.
"I'd suggest you stick to your dumb sister," he added with a snort as Mavican tried to wander off again. "Bet she's already forgotten why we're here."

Galahad cast his eyes over the others. He watched Camille try to smooth talk her way into getting Tantalus to do the searching for her, though it didn't seem to be working. He smiled a bit at that and then looked towards Verse and Derecho, poor Verse seemed to be fretting even more now but it was nice to see Derecho trying to be reassuring that they would get home in time for him to witness the birth of his pups. Meanwhile Chivosi suggested they spread out to look for signs of recent elk activity. "Mavican, why don't you come help me search? It will be fun." He learned very quickly that calling anything fun tended to get her attention and keep it quicker than anything else. And if Mavican was with him he would have one less thing to worry about. It would, after all, do them no good if she wandered off and accidentally scared any elk away.
Mavican had paused to sit down and scratch an itch on her ear when Galahad said something about fun. She hadn't been paying full attention but the word fun had gotten her attention. Tail thumped happily on the ground. "Okay!" And she hurried to trot over to him. Mavican followed him as they began to slowly work away from the rest of the group, he seemed to be concentrating an awful lot for this fun thing they were doing, but she just followed along, wagging her tail and smiling widely. "So what's fun?" She asked him, somewhat oblivious to the whole reason why they were out here and why they were searching for...well...something.

Verse glanced up as Derecho came to comfort him - it was almost surprising to be honest, while he'd never had a problem with Derecho there had been a brief period where he had worried the over protective male might just try to tear him to tiny insignificant pieces when he learned his sister was expecting.
It wasn't an entirely unrealistic thought either, Derecho was much larger then he was and was likely quite capable of doing the deed. He gave the other wolf and small smile, if nothing else he supposed they could bond over the fact that they both loved Aleu - although in different ways. "I know...and I'm glad Terreis decided to stay behind an keep an eye on her" He confessed.
Derecho gave Verse and easy smile, if he had any clue as to what the other wolf was thinking he didn't let on about it and in truth merely chalked up the others nervous and surprised look as just another symptom of his worry over Aleu. "Well if I had to let anyone else protect my sister Terreis would be my choice" He assured Verse "She won't let anything happen to her...and it takes a while for puppies to be born...odds are we'll return and you won't have missed a thing" He further consoled the soon to be father.
Camille gave Tantalus a soft pout when he refused to help her outright. Not that his refusal would actually make her give up of course and she continued to follow alongside him "Why would I want to follow her around?" She asked him with a roll of her eyes "She's never going to find an elk...unless she trips over one" She added with a soft chuckle before eying him critically "You though...you I bet could find an elk, your much stronger then the rest of your brothers" She told him in a voice practically purring with flattery.
Chiv watched as her group spread out more or less in pairs, it left her alone for the most part - but that was fine, the better for her to keep an eye on everyone else..and the weather she added mentally craning her head up to look at the sky.
It had been relatively clear this morning but was quickly clouding over and she shivered a bit as a particularly cold gust of wind swept through the forest. Fluffing her fur with a little shake she turned her nose back to the task at hand...it would probably be good to the task at hand. it would probably be good to finish this hunt as soon as they could. Chiv could only hope that Merrill was noticing the changing weather and hurrying her group along as well.

Tantalus all but rolled his eyes at her sugar-coated words, though it was hard to hide the fact that stroking his ego was a good move. He knew Camille was just trying to get him to do the work for her . . . but it was nice to hear some compliments every once in a while. Even if he was petty sure they were only to further her own agenda.
"Stronger, huh? Right," he grunted, trying to hide the above thoughts by still facing forward and keeping up the pace. Game face time, he thought. Not girl face time. "That what you told the last guy you tried to bribe?"

Tantalus was tuning out to be a harder target then she had thought he would be, he was a challenge and Camille loved challenges...poor Tantalus probably didn't even realize he'd just put himself at the very top of her list of potential future boyfriends because really who didn't love a challenging boy coated in black and white? He was like the bad boy of his litter and that was exciting.
"Seriously?" She snorted and laughed slightly "Why would I even bother with looking at anyone else when your so obviously above them all?" She asked him with an innocent and serious look on her face. As though she truly believed what she had just said "You can't be that clueless about yourself"

As the group continued on with their search for prey th hours passed by and the group was successful - not only did they manage to find the elk but felled a couple as well. Unfortunately by the time this was completed hours had drifted by and the weather had taken a turn for the worse.
Angry grey clouds had continued to pile up and the wind had grown increasingly stronger until at long last everything let go at once. Strong winds stormed the forest in such gusts that the wolves at times thought they might be blown away - troublesome to be sure but had that been the only problem then they would have gotten through it with little trouble.
It was the snow which caused the problems, falling from the sky and swirled about by the winds it reduced visibility to almost nothing and threatened to bury both the wolves and their kills in short order. Winter had come with a vengeance.
