xxxxxxxxAt first glance, Amaya is a cold person who doesn't seem to care about much. She is blunt and isn't afraid to speak up if you annoy her. She's easily irritated, and absolutely despises people that try to stereotype her. Along with being easily irritated, she can also become extremely jealous within an instant especially if someone has something/thought of something that she didn't get first. She enjoys making a profit here and there, but her strong sense of pride means she won't impede on anyone else's business practices or ideas that somewhat relate to it. She trusts easily, though it may not seem like it.

However, behind this cold exterior is something not many people would expect from her. Amaya is surprisingly childish. She loves toys and colorful things, yet she'll never actually admit it. Her eyes tend to wander giving the impression that she has zoned off when she has been listening the whole time. She has a photographic memory that she uses to her advantage often. One of the weirdest things about her is the fact that, while Amaya is smart, she has absolutely no grasp on common sense, yet tends to analyze and criticize those who lack logic. She also has a very weird way of answering questions or explaining situations. When doing so she generally goes off on tangents and doesn't really answer the question, and if she does, she continues talking so it feels as if she never actually did it in the first place. So basically, if you value your time, don't ask her any question that doesn't have a yes or no answer.

Despite the fact she is older than a few of the new trainers, she will still talk with them as equals. She’s particularly skilled at parkouring, but doesn’t do it unless it’s necessary...or if it’s one of those rare instances of her flirting and she wants to show off.

On the topic of gijinka, Amaya would rather fight herself before letting a gijinka fight under her. It's not that she hates them, she loves how they look and think that what they do is their decision...she just doesn't want to see them get hurt.

That being said, she is also very protective of her own Pokémon, she will pull them out the moment she has a doubt and while it does hurt her ego, she’ll even run from a trainer battle if it’s completely hopeless. She loves her Pokémon as if they were her family. She won’t do anything they don’t want, causing a lot of trouble in her more mischievous Pokémon.

xxxxxxxxAmaya's past starts out quite normally. Her parents were really big into business and were out of the house a lot. Her family owned part of a restaurant franchise in Saffron and spent almost all their time there, leaving Amaya to grow up, basically, on her own. So while other children were out playing tag and hide and go seek, she'd sit in the corner and play her game boy. She was well aware that it wasn't because they didn't care, but that it was just because they had to keep food on the table.

As a child, she spent a lot of time reading, putting her photographic memory to good use. She learned how to play the piano, and she also found another new hobby, photography. When she was six, her parents bought her an old camera, at her request, as well as photo developing equipment. She took her camera and the first thing she did was run off to take pictures. At first she started with pictures of flowers and pokemon, but she wanted her hobby to make her money, and while the pictures of flowers were pretty, definitely not worth much. So, what else could she do but start moving to people? She wasn't outgoing, so it wasn't like she was invited to many parties. Instead she just took to hiding in the trees and getting pictures that way. She was always very responsible, so her parents even trusted her to develop her own pictures…so long as she had supervision of course.

She was very careful when developing all her pictures, eventually they stopped watching her because she was working on them all the time. That is, she was very careful until she turned ten. It was her birthday and she was excited because that was the day she would get her first Pokémon, so she invited her friends and quite a few customers too. She went to reach for a chemical she had left uncapped and with a knock at the basement door, she knocked it down and it got in her eyes. She quickly ran to the sink, however it had already done it's damage. She got it out fast enough that it didn't blind her, but the acids did make her legally blind. For a while she wore really thick glasses and she withdrew even more. But eventually, she got a pair of contacts and tried to go back to the way things used to be.

She never really thrust herself back into the social spotlight. Instead, she kept a small group of friends, an even larger group of customers, and continued her photography. After the incident, she received a digital camera and a laptop. She doesn’t develop her own photos anymore, but finds others who will do it for her. She never wants an incident like that to happen ever again.

That day, her parents also got her, her first Pokémon, a bulbasaur. Amaya feels that it was because they felt some sense of guilt not advising her when she was developing her photos, or allowing her to go into it in general, but she didn't protest. The day she got her contacts was the day she left to start her journey.
