Deathgod of Legend Her Silent Cries Just remeber it's just a dream and you should be fine Unless you live on Elm street and a guy named Fred died in a horrible fire a few years ago. xd Well in that case, you're screwed.
I can't offer much assistance in helping prevent such nightmares, as I usually don't remember my dreams or nightmares that much anymore.
When I did suffer from them a lot, I would always chant to myself 'I wont have a scary dream tonight' until I ended up falling asleep, that seemed to work for me, but then again, I was a little girl back then.

As lovely as these nightmares sound, please remember that the OP requested advice on her nightmares, and not really asking for yours in return to see who's is worse/weirder. If there's a lesson at the end of your story, then that's fine, but otherwise, not so much.
Even better, if one user is particularly interesting in sharing nightmares, add a thread to the You sub-forum! Because, honestly, it sucks to have a bunch of people chattering about the subject you have requested but aren't contributing/answering your question--it's like you never asked for help at all.

((I've been there. >.> )) so, again, I refer to the first few posts. mine is in here as reply number 1 or 2, and t has some advice I think is very helpful. itseems to have been ignored though, given someone posted after me also in search of advice. xp there was another one or two peieces of advice at least on the first page. at least some folks have some decency. @ OP: I hope you have foun a method that works for you dear. smile

I have nightmares often. In my case, I choose not to take control of my dreams. I used to just look at my hands and somehow then I would have complete control over my nightmares, but now I choose not to. Why? Nightmares are interesting. They show you things that otherwise you wouldn't think about. That's why they're called nightmares. I choose to do the GaGa-thing. I take my nightmares and make them into art. In my case, I draw them and write about them. On the topic of dreams, I have two leitmotifs in mine: talking trees and not being able to scream. According to specialists I've spoken to, speaking to trees in your dreams represents the coming of wisdom and knowledge. And not being able to scream in my nightmares implies that I'm under too much stress in my everyday life. Perhaps you have a leitmotif* in your nightmares?

When I go... Well, I haven't had a nightmare since I was in my teens. Around 15. I didn't get them very often, just every now and then, and I could never remember what they were about. The only one I do remember was when I was 6 and I had a dream a giant snake was attacking my family and I was getting eaten. But I haven't had any trouble for a few years though. I'm not entirely sure what it was that happened that kept them away, but I still have some ideas and suggestions. One is that you may find a comforting lullaby recordered and play it every night. Another is meditation. I've found that to really work, especially if you do some kind of intense workout and then just calm down with it. Or just get in the mind set that you're just gonna pass out for the night. You go-- Draw me with Dobby and I will love you forever! (and tip to!)

Advice for a nightmare.... Well, this is what I do once I realize i'm having a bad dream.
Have fun with it if possible. While it's true that nightmares are scary at times, once your aware that your dreaming, you can twist around the data and add your own little enhancements to help you overcome the situation.
although, recently, I tried saving my brother and cousin using Chaos Control.... and still failed miserably. Stupid acid goat lake.
