Powers: Sage has multiple personalities, Sage doesn't have a mutation until he turns into Thorn...Thorn has enhanced strength, and metal spikes at each knuckle on his hand, he has a healing factor and enhanced senses and agility and his eye turn bright green, Baal is more enhanced than Thorn on top of that his skin is hardened armor turned grayish brown, he has spikes coming from his shoulders elbows and up from his ankles and along his back,his eyes are crimson red and he doesn't speak well and his teeth are pointed like a piranha , Mal is farther enhanced than Baal he walked on all fours, has no speaking ability at all, his eyes glow red, his feet are talons with metal claws he resembles a demonic dog, then there's Zero...he's a pure sociopath, but looks like a normal human...no Spikes, but is enhanced more than all of them...his skin is paler, and his eyes and nails are black.

History: Sage was pretty normal, as normal as one could be when a family outing was a beer run, though when he got his powers, manifesting as multiple personality disorder, his family sent him to an asylum. This was when he had only just discovered Thorn, once Baal emerged he ripped through the wall of the asylum and took off. He was picked up by SHIELD and is in captivity, doing missions for them. He hasn't a clue his sister is looking for him.

Powers: Her DNA was crossed with that of a Black Mamba, and her strength was enhanced, and given a very slight healing factor, only enough to double the regular human healing factor. Her canines were elongated and she now has the poison of a black mamba if she bites you, her blood too is now cold like a reptile.
Weapons: Marine K-Bar, M24 sniper rifle, 9mm (for close range) and her teeth.
History: Her powers were not obtained through mutation but through experiments. She was a marine sniper at the top of her unit. Making a kill shot at 1.56 miles or 2500 meters. Her DNA was painfully crossed with that of a black mamba in order to make her a more efficient killer. Unfortunately she didn't volunteer for the experiments. After that she left the Military and conveniently her superiors that approved it were found dead a single shot...two through the heart, one through the head, and the last one died from the poison of a black mamba.
Ana currently does a lot a free lance work and is a mercenary for hire.

History: Tara was a chemistry teacher before the world ended her ability giving the students a very first hand of molecular structure. She lost her sight in an accident in her chemistry lab, a bad reaction of chemicals turning into a gas that got into her eyes while trying to evacuate students. After the water disappeared and the world turned into a huge sand box, she ended up with a small group of people. One of them being Dr. Hank McCoy, he was the first one to realize that her ability made her able to create water from the air around them, and the group now protects her at all costs, keeping her from those that would take her to any of the current Tyrants that would harm her.

The Beast possesses enhanced senses, the ability to secrete pheromones to attract members of the opposite sex, as well as a slight healing factor that allows him to regenerate minor wounds and recover quickly from minor ailments such as colds. She is very shy about fighting, but will if she's forced to, (she's just not great at it), She is very mouthy, and her Welsh accent is often mistaken for Being English, which makes her angry. History: Toni grew up decently normal, her family forced church on her she rebelled in her teenage years. She had friend that introduced her to the dark arts at 13. She surpassed her friend finding she had a natural affinity for it. Things that took people months to learn she could do in just weeks. While her friend was happy for her she was a bit jealous and there friendship grew apart. As her friend moved towards white magick she got into darker things much to the point where her old friend tried to stop her tried to bind her power. In the end Toni killed her. That was how she found the Coven of witches. Or rather they found her. She had been with them for several years and it wasn't until she was 21 that she changed her life completely.
Working on summoning higher level demons, she came across an energy so powerful she couldn't help but try and summon it. When she did it changed her life, she had summoned the Undertaker, unfortunately she couldn't control him like she could the others. It changed all of their lives and proved her power to the Coven leader Vampiro and the Undertaker earning her the status of High Priestess.
After the world ended, Toni had been traveling with Vampiro, she had to learn new tricks to stay alive including hand to hand. She took up sword play, and gun play...favoring swordplay. Toni had been attempting to learn a new magick skill. She had been attempting to create a time bubble large enough to encompass her body when she got stuck in her own time bubble, Vampiro left her behind because he thought she was dead. Toni was recently thrust out of her time bubble by the recent fights between Kane, Undertaker and Luciana...the earthquakes, thunderbolts and fire destroyed her time bubble. History:The mutant who would become Gambit was abandoned at birth, by his birth father due to his unusual red-on-black eyes (they believed their child was the devil). He was stolen from a New Orleans orphanage by the Thieves Guild and given to Antiquary, a 'collector' of children, who considered Remy a perfect work of art. There he was given the name Remy and the title Le Diable Blanc (The White Devil), because of an old Guild Prophecy that spoke of a white devil. However, Jean-Luc LeBeau greatly disliked the idea of the child being in Antiquiry's care and arranged for Remy to grow up being watched by a gang of street thieves known as Fagan's Mob instead.
At age eight, Remy met and befriended a young girl named Belladonna. History: Sabretooth's memories have been tampered with by clandestine organizations such as Weapon X, and so much of what appears to be his past is not of credible account. His strongest and earliest memories involve being cruelly abused on numerous occasions by his father while tied up in his parents' basement. However, whether or not these memories are accurate, or even true, is unclear. Another memory involves Wolverine, whom at the time lived in a small community of Blackfoot Indians and settlers. One day, Sabretooth tracks him down in Canada, and rapes and seemingly murders his lover, Silver Fox on Logan's birthday. This results in the first of many battles between the two, with Sabretooth savagely beating Logan. Creed eventually adopts a tradition of tracking Logan down on his birthday with the intention of fighting him.

Superhuman Strength: Inez is superhumanly strong, sufficient to allow her to punch through a standard brick wall with ease. At her peak, Inez can lift about 10 tons.
Superhuman Durability: The tissues of Inez's body are harder and more resistant to certain types of injury, particularly injuries generally caused by impact forces, than an ordinary human. She can withstand impacts that would either severely injure or kill an ordinary human, such as falling from a height of several stories or being struck by a superhumanly strong being, and sustain little to no physical injury. Inez can also withstand high caliber bullets without them penetrating, though she isn't totally impervious to them. After being shot with .45 caliber bullets, Inez sustains no more injury other than some bruises.
Accelerated Healing: If Inez is injured, she can recover from minor injuries faster than normal humans. Whereas most humans require several days to heal from bruises, Inez usually heals them within the span of a few hours.
Weapons: Inez is an experienced armed and unarmed combatant. However, she is more comfortable using conventional firearms during combat situations. She is an excellent marksman and has very keen eyesight, though it isn't known if her sight is within the superhuman range.
History: While growing up, Inez was teased for being a mutant. They called her 'Crazy Inez'. Her father often had to keep her out of fights even though she would win.
As a hired mercenary, she was one of a number hired to take out the Four Winds. However, Black Swan ended up killing all the members. She later met Deadpool after he was accredited with the hit and introduced herself to Wade while he was working out at Merc Works.
She later was hired as security for Dazzler (Alison Blaire), but quit leaving the job to Deadpool after the manager squeezed her butt. Later she was seen helping Alex Hayden, she was sure he wasn't Deadpool due to being ambidextrous.
The Culver Sport and Gun Club put out an offer on who could take the Punisher's Colt .45 handguns. After a night out on the town, Inez and Alex agreed to try and take Castle on and split the money. But Castle catches them in his apartment and dumped them in a phone booth minus their equipment, clothes, and their car. The Punisher then killed The Culver Sport and Gun Club.
They continued to work together along with Sandi and Taskmaster. Inez was wounded battling Crossfire, but soon recovered.
She returned after her father died and discovered that in her absence Alex had had an affair with his secretary Sandi Brandenberg. Her rage vanished when she saw that Alex was being attacked by the Black Swan. Black Swan called Outlaw "Crazy Inez" and in a fit of rage, Outlaw punched straight through his torso. This wasn't enough to kill Black Swan though and together with Taskmaster and Sandi, they defeated the Black Swan. Outlaw and Alex continued their relationship (as did Sandi and Taskmaster). She aided Alex Hayden with his mercenary company, Agency X. (He and Ales Did however brake it off and are no longer going out.)
Inez was also living in New York during Deadpool - Suicide Kings and help Deadpool out when he was framed for terrorism by Tombstone.

Powers: Fish has the ability to create wormholes, portation "discs" or other spatial portals for transport between two non-adjacent locations. It usually consists of two or more gateways, with an object entering one gateway leaving via the other instantaneously.

History: Fish started out with a relatively normal life but it was changed dramatical when she was kidnapped. She was missing for over a week before the police found her. Her parents tried to patch things up by sending her to see a therapist. And over time it seemed to work just fine and Fish seemed to become a perfectly normal teen again. But in truth over time she had only become a grate actress being able to cover her real feelings and fears. When she started high school Fish discovered her new ability's and had many troubles with them. Once she even sent half of a school room through a portal. History:
Kurt is the son of Mystique who got ride of him at birth. But Mystique is not his only family he also has a half brother Graydon Creed, (who's father is sabretooth) and an adopted sister, Rogue.A circus family found him at birth and had him join there little family. Because of his odd apprentice kurt did well in the circus.....well at least he brought on a lot of laughs but everything he tried to talk to anyone off stage they were frightened by him. Some even went as far as calling him a 'demon' or 'devils child'. So Kurt left the circus and started to look to god, he knew if he had faith god would help him. But his faith slowly shrank as people started hating mutans more and more and with his appearance he was a clear target for this hate. But finally a hand reached out to the Multan child, it was Charles Xavier. Kurt joined his school where most of the people there were OK with the way he looked.

Powers: X-23's main mutant power, much like Wolverine's, accelerated healing which allows her to regenerate destroyed or damaged tissue and organs at a much greater speed and efficiency that most humans and mutants. She can completely heal injuries that caused massive damage to tissues and loss of blood, like bullet wounds, cuts or slashes and even deep puncture wounds, in a matter of minutes. Her accelerated healing is so advanced that she can reattach severed limbs. Her accelerated healing also allows her immunity to all poisons and almost all drugs. Also due to her advanced immune system, X-23 is immune to all known diseases and infections.
Also like wolverine X-23 has super human senses, she can see at a much greater distance than most with almost perfect clarity, and also has perfect clarity in almost complete darkness. Her hearing is also as enhanced as her eyesight, allowing her to hear sounds ordinary humans don't and hear sounds that ordinary humans do, but from a much greater distance. She can also use her enhanced sense of smell to track targets.
Much like Wolverine, X-23 has 6 retractable claws, although there are some differences between them. Firstly, only two claws come out of each hand, the other 'claw', although it would be more accurately classed as a 'blade' come out of between her second and middle tow. The second difference is that her 'claws' are made of extremely strong bones, covered in adamantium, unlike the man she's a clone of, her skeleton is not adamantium.

History: When a top-secret program attempted to recreate the original Weapon X (now Wolverine) using a damaged cellular sample, they were unable to salvage the Y chromosome. Dr. Sarah Kinney, a geneticist specializing in mutation, was brought in and proposed creating a female duplicate. Although her request was initially denied, Kinney produced a viable female subject anyway, prompting the program's director, Dr. Martin Sutter, to reconsider. Despite resistance from his protégé, Dr. Zander Rice, who was raised by his father's colleague after his father was killed by the original Weapon X, Sutter allowed Sarah to proceed. Zander, feeling slighted by Sarah's underhanded approach, forced her to play surrogate to the clone, and she gave birth to 'X-23,' the 23rd attempt to clone Weapon X.
Sarah, now disgusted by the program's intent to create a mindless killing machine, stayed on to try to remain a good influence and protector to her surrogate daughter. Years passed, and X was trained in multiple martial arts by a sensei, Tanaka. One day, to test X, Rice placed a trigger scent on Tanaka's sword, designed to enrage X. Unable to control her feral response to the chemical, X lashed out and killed her sensei in cold blood, which assured Rice that she was ready for the field. At ten years old, X-23 was sent on her first mission for The Facility. X was successful, being sent out many more times, one after another, killing dozens along the way, and left emotionally stunted, at best, by the experience. Despite Sarah's best intentions, X-23, having being raised as a prisoner, with extremely little human interaction, tortured with excruciating surgeries, and trained and brainwashed for many years, had become exactly what Rice had envisioned, a feral assassin at his beck and call.
Eventually, Dr. Rice, in a vain attempt to get revenge on the original Weapon X, left X-23 behind on a particularly dangerous mission, hoping it to be her last, but she managed to survive and return to The Facility. Finally, Zander persuaded his father figure to hand over the reigns of the program to him, while secretly ordering X-23 to kill Sutter, his wife, and their son, who was, in reality, the product of an affair between Zander and Mrs. Sutter. X-23 went through with the mission, killing the couple, but seemingly refused to murder the boy. Meanwhile, Zander revealed to a shocked and dismayed Sarah, a chamber filled with dozens of incubating pods filled with X-23 duplicates. Already mortified by Zander's most recent revelation, once Sarah learned of X-23's latest mission, she gave the girl one of her own: Destroy the incubation pods, and kill Dr. Zander Rice.
X-23 succeeded, setting explosives in the pod room, and killing every scientist and soldier that got in her way. Encountering Rice, X beat him to the brink of death, but as she was disgusted by his actions, and didn't want to become like him, X-23 stopped before killing Rice, and left him to die with his other creations. Nearly free of her torturous past, X-23 walked out of the building as the explosives went off, seemingly destroying the program that had spawned her. Her closest friend, Dr. Kinney, was waiting for her. Unfortunately, Rice had placed a trigger scent on Dr. Kinney earlier, and as X-23 detected it, her programming took over, and X fatally attacked the closest thing she had to a mother. As she lay dying, Kinney told X that her real name was Laura, not X-23, but the doctor died before she could finish saying "I love you." Luckily enough, a letter that Dr. Kinney had been writing to X-23 was on her person, detailing her history and personal feelings toward her daughter and the program. Also enclosed were legal documentation, and files on the first Weapon X, Wolverine, and his home, the Xavier Institute, that Kinney hoped would lead X to a better life. The Facility destroyed, all that was left of the program was X-23 and a sample of the trigger chemical.  Alliance: Neutral

Strength Level: Aside from his physical advantages, Deadpool is a superb assassin and mercenary, an expert in multiple forms of martial arts, an expert swordsman and marksman, and has been said to have enhanced physical strength. While his psychosis and dissociative identity disorder is a handicap, it is also one of his greatest attributes as it makes him an extremely unpredictable opponent.
Powers: Deadpool's primary power is an accelerated healing factor. Said healing factor, which was artificially endowed by the Weapon X program, enables him to regenerate any destroyed tissues or organs at a super-human rate. An unanticipated side effect of the therapy was a rapid acceleration of the cancerous tumors he was suffering from at the time as well, causing them to quickly spread across his entire body as soon as his powers fully activated. Because of this, his healing factor super charged his cancer, resulting in massive scar tissue causing his appearance to be severely disfigured. Deadpool's brain cells are similarly affected, with dying brain cells being rejuvenated at a super accelerated rate. While this allows Deadpool to recover from any and all head wounds, it is also the cause of his psychosis and mental instability, and it renders him nearly invulnerable to psychic and telepathic powers, as the altered brain cells quickly regenerate to their original state. Deadpool's healing factor is strong enough that he has previously survived decapitation more than once, though in each of these occurrences, his head had to be reunited with his body to heal the wound instead of his body growing a new head (or vice-versa).
Weapons: Over the years, Deadpool has owned a number of personal teleportation devices. Also he possessed a device which projected holographic disguises, allowing him to go undercover or conceal his appearance. Occasionally, Deadpool has also been shown as having a satchel that he is often pulling weapons out of nowhere from.
History: Wade was dying from cancer when the Weapon X program offered him a chance for a cure. Undergoing procedures which attempted to recreate the healing factor of Weapon X (aka Wolverine), Wilson's cancer went into overdrive, scarring him externally and neurologically. Wilson was left in a near-catatonic state; he was deemed a failure and was sent to a facility where rejects of the Weapon Plus program were locked away. While there, he became the subject of betting among the other inmates in what was known as the dead pool. In this game, the inmates gambled on whom the warden would kill next; Wilson had been chosen as a test subject for the warden's various experiments and was given high odds for death. Wilson survived, however; eventually the healing factor manifested itself and, though still scarred and insane, he mustered enough lucidity to escape. Wilson thereafter used his abilities to become a renowned - if unstable - mercenary, taking the name of Deadpool to reflect the odds that he beat.
In addition, Deadpool is multilingual and has the ability to speak German, Spanish, and Japanese.

History: Jean Grey is the younger daughter of Professor John Grey of the History Department of Bard College in Annandale-on Hudson, New York, and his wife Elaine. When Jean was ten years old, she was playing with her best friend Annie Richardson when Annie was hit by an automobile. The emotion that Jean felt as she held her dying friend awakened her own latent telepathic powers, and she thus experienced Annie's own emotions as she died. This traumatic occurrence left Jean in a withdrawn and deeply depressed state. Moreover, Jean discovered that she could not control her newly awakened telepathic abilities, and had to isolate herself from other people to keep hold of her sanity. Finally, when Jean was eleven, a psychiatrist recommended to her parents that they consult a colleague of his, Professor Charles Xavier, who was secretly a mutant with telepathic abilities . Xavier explained to Jean, but not to her parents, that she was a mutant, and he treated her for several years. During this time he erected psychic shields in Jean's mind so that she would not be able to use her telepathic abilities until she had achieved the maturity necessary for dealing with them. Simultaneously, he taught her how to levitate and manipulate objects through psionic force. When Xavier judged that Jean had reached a certain level of mastery of her telekinetic power, he recommended to her parents that they enroll her in his newly established School for Gifted Youngsters. Unknown to Professor and Mrs. Grey, this school served as a cover for the X-Men, a team of young superhuman mutants being trained by Xavier to combat the threats posed by other mutants who used their powers against humanity. On entering the school, Jean Grey became the fifth member to join the X-Men and took the code name of Marvel Girl. Sometime later, after Xavier had recruited several new members for the X-Men, Grey and some of the other X-Men decided to leave the group in order to lead their own lives. Shortly after she left the team, Grey and the then current members of the X-Men were kidnapped by Steven Lang's Sentinels and taken aboard Lang's space station. After defeating Lang the X-Men had to escape back to Earth aboard a space shuttle during a solar radiation storm. The craft's pilot had to sit in an area without enough shielding to protect him or her from the lethal radiation. Grey volunteered to be pilot, but while guiding the shuttle to Earth, the solar radiation finally proved to be too great for Grey to hold back any longer with her powers. She began to succumb to the radiation's lethal effects. It was long believed that Grey had indeed died aboard the space shuttle but became linked with a primal energy force known as the "phoenix-force" which recreated and reentered her body, The vastly more powerful being took the code name Phoenix. Phoenix joined the X-Men, but Grey had not had the proper training for coping with such immense power. At first Grey's strong moral sense kept the phoenix force under control, and usually subconsciously prevented her from using her powers beyond a certain limit. But then Phoenix fell victim to psychic manipulation by Mastermind, who was attempting to prove his worthiness to become a member of the Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club by mesmerizing Phoenix into becoming its new Black Queen. He psychically induced dark, repressed desires from within Grey's consciousness to come to the surface of Phoenix's mind, submerging Grey's true normal personality. Phoenix finally freed herself of Mastermind's control, but was unable to prevent the dark side of Grey's personality with the full power of the phoenix-force behind it, from overwhelming her, not having had the training necessary to repress it. Grey's true personality was submerged more fully than before, and Phoenix became the malevolent Dark Phoenix. After Dark Phoenix wreaked incredible devastation, Grey's true personality reasserted control of Phoenix once more. Phoenix committed suicide rather than revert to Dark Phoenix.

History: In Caldecott County, Mississippi a young mutant was born to parents Owen and Priscilla. The couple raised their daughter Anna Marie in a back-to-nature hippie commune where she was born. It was early on in life that Anna Marie’s mother disappeared and so the girl was raised mostly by her father with the help of her Aunt Carrie. As a young teenage Anna Marie ran away from home and so was given the nickname Rogue for this reason. She had gotten close to her first boyfriend Cody Robbins who later was placed into a coma by Rogue’s ability to absorption through skin to skin contact. After that she wore clothes that eliminated the possibility of any skin contact with the people around her. In a way it was a way of protect herself from them as it was protecting them from her. It wasn’t too long after Cody was placed in the coma that Rogue was taken in by another mutant by the name of Mystique as a kind of daughter, soon after recruiting the girl into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. While fight alongside the Brotherhood she went up against the X-Men, ROM and a few other heroes before leaving the Brotherhood. Only to join the X-Men who didn't trust Rogue to much at the beginning but thought the years the girl had gained the trust of her new find 'family' and friends. Now after so many years and so many hard times she had full control of her abilities after Prof. Xavier teared down a few mental walls that kept Rogue's powers from developing.

Luster was kept by the Yakuza and used as a bargaining chip for power since her mutant abilities surfaced. Luster was never called by her real name causing her to only know herself as the nicknames and taunts she is refered to. She has a dependent personality and is unable to live her on her own becasue of her upbringing. Being a native to Japan, she doesn't speak English and can only speak Japanese. Luster has an average education and hates being in the spotlight and in public. Keeping to herself keeps her from growing as a person and individual.

The speed at which this healing factor works varies in direct proportion with the severity of the damage Wolverine suffers. Wolverine’s skeleton includes six retractable one-foot long bone claws, three in each arm, that are housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms. Wolverine can, at will, release these slightly curved claws through his skin beneath the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but the blood loss is quickly halted by his healing factor. Wolverine can unsheathe any number of his claws at once. Wolverine also possesses superhumanly acute senses, making him capable of seeing things at a maximum distance greater than a normal human’s. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, and he is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if that person or object is hidden. Wolverine can use these enhanced senses to track any creature with an impressive degree of success.

History: Wolverine was conscripted by Department H, and for his first mission was sent against the incredible Hulk. Wolverine was subsequently approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who was looking for mutants to help his students, the X-Men, escape from the island-being known as Krakoa, which had captured them. Wolverine left Alpha Flight to accompany Xavier and rescue the captured X-Men. After Krakoa was defeated, Wolverine decided to stay with the X-Men, for reasons which included that he had fallen for Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). Logan remained with the X-Men for quite some time, at one time being their field commander, and encountered adversaries such as Proteus (Kevin MacTaggart), Magneto (Magnus), the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Brood, the Reavers, demons from the dimension of Limbo, the Marauders, the Morlocks, and even Dracula on one occasion. Powers: Gravikinesis: Graviton possesses the ability to mentally manipulate gravitons (that carry the attractive, gravitational force between atomic nuclei), enabling him to control gravity. He can surround any object or person including himself with gravitons and anti-gravitons (particles similar to gravitons but with opposite charge and spin), thus increasing or decreasing the Earth's pull of gravity upon it.
Flight - By decreasing the pull of gravity beneath him, he can fly at any speed or height at which he can still breathe. However by using his force field generation he can also breathe in space.
Movement Impairment and Graviton Attraction - By increasing the pull of gravity beneath his opponents, he can pin them to the ground, having made them too heavy to move, or cause sufficient gravitational stress to impair the normal functioning of the human cardiovascular system. He can also cause an inanimate object (such as a 1-foot diameter rock) to radiate enough gravitons to give it its own gravitational field, able to attract nearby matter and energy.
Graviton Blast and Force Field Generation - By rapidly projecting gravitons in a cohesive beam, he can generate a force blast with a maximum concussive force equivalent to the primary shock wave of an explosion of 20,000 pounds of TNT. If concentrated enough Graviton can exert is power to level a whole city.He can also create a gravitational force field around him capable of protecting him from any concussive force up to and including a small nuclear weapon.
With time and training his power further advanced as sustained application of his power, even to the extent of levitating an island miles above ground level, can continue while he sleeps, he was able to somewhat reshape mountains on the Moon and demonstrated the ability to lift a small stone in China while residing in Mexico. and deposit it in Arizona through a victims head just to see if he could so. By separating himself from Earth's gravitational field and instead attuning himself to the gravitational field of the Sun he was able to cross the distance from Earth to the Sun within minutes, where his individual force field proved strong enough to withstand the forces of the Sun itself.
As he learns more about gravity he learn that he was able to manipulate everything that has to due with gravity. Yes with gravity he can even manipulate time.

Aside from bashing foes with it and blocking incoming attacks, Cap is able to throw the shield with nearly perfect aim. He is able to hit multiple targets with the same throw by means of ricochet, and can even achieve a boomerang-like return effect with it, allowing him to strike enemies from behind or retrieve the shield without objects to ricochet from.

He is able to formulate battle strategies and his brilliant tactical sense allows him to just as quickly alter any strategy of plan to fit the need of the situation change.
■■ Master Acrobat: Rogers' years of training have made him an expert in the field of acrobatics and gymnastics as well as a stunning aerialist.
■■ Indomitable Will: Rogers is a very strong willed person second to none. He was able to suppress all forms of temptation including physical, mental, and sexual.
■■ Professional Sketch Artist: Rogers had great artistic skill which he developed from childhood. He often worked as a freelance illustrator and sketch artist even loaning his skills to the NYPD for a time. He enjoyed drawing and did so with any free time.

He likely received training with different kinds of weapons during his wartime for undercover infiltration missions in the event of not being able to use his shield.

Although he always considered Becky to be quite competent, he was extremely protective of her, and was unable to forgive himself when he thought she had died. ■■ Dedicated Once Steve has committed himself to an idea, he is unshakeable. When he made the decision to join the army, not even multiple failed physicals could dissuade him. He is the same for any cause he truly believes in, stubborn to a fault.

Joseph Rogers died when Steve was only a child and his mother, Sarah, died of pneumonia while Steve was a teen. By early 1940, before America's entry into World War II, Rogers is a tall but scrawny fine arts student specializing in illustration. Disturbed by the rise of the Third Reich, Rogers attempts to enlist, only to be rejected due to his poor constitution. U.S. Army General Chester Phillips, looking for test subjects, offers Rogers the chance to serve his country by taking part in a top-secret defense project — Operation: Rebirth, which seeks to develop a means of creating physically superior soldiers. Rogers volunteers for the research and, after a rigorous selection process, is chosen as the first human test subject for the Super-Soldier serum developed by the scientist "Dr. Josef Reinstein," later retroactively changed to a code name for the scientist Abraham Erskine.
That night Operation: Rebirth is implemented, Rogers receives injections and oral doses of the Super-Soldier Serum. He is then exposed to a controlled burst of "Vita-Rays" that activate and stabilize the chemicals in his system. Although the process is arduous physically, it successfully alters his physiology almost instantly from its relatively frail form to the maximum of human efficiency, greatly enhancing his musculature and reflexes. Erskine declares Rogers to be the first of a new breed of man, a "nearly perfect human being."
After the physical transformation, a Nazi spy reveals himself and shoots Erskine. Because the scientist had committed the crucial portions of the Super-Soldier formula to memory, it cannot be duplicated. The spy dies, killed either while running away to escape Rogers or because Rogers threw him into live machinery. In the 1941 origin story, he dies when running into the machinery but is not killed by Rogers; in the Tales of Suspense revision, however, Rogers causes the spy's death by punching him into the machinery.
The United States government, making the most of its one super-soldier and to hide all information about Operation: Rebirth and its failure, re-imagines him as a superhero who serves as both a counter-intelligence agent and a propaganda symbol to counter Nazi Germany's head of terrorist operations, the Red Skull. To that end, Rogers is given a uniform modeled after the American flag, a bulletproof shield, a personal side arm (A silver Colt .45), and the codename Captain America. He is also given a cover identity as a clumsy infantry private at Camp Lehigh in Virginia. Barely out of his teens himself, Rogers makes friends with the camp's teenage mascot, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes.
Barnes accidentally learns of Rogers' dual identity and offers to keep the secret if he can become Captain America's sidekick. Rogers agrees and trains Barnes. Rogers meets President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who presents him with a new shield, forged from an alloy of steel and vibranium, fused by an unknown catalyst. The alloy is indestructible, yet the shield is light enough to use as a discus-like weapon that can be angled to return to him. It proves so effective that Captain America forgoes the sidearm. Throughout World War II, Captain America and Bucky fight the Nazi menace both on their own and as members of the superhero team the Invaders.
In late April 1945, during the closing days of World War II, Captain America and Bucky try to stop the villainous Baron Zemo from destroying an experimental drone plane. Zemo launches the plane with an armed explosive on it, with Rogers and Barnes in hot pursuit. They reach the plane just before it takes off, but when Bucky tries to defuse the bomb, it explodes in mid-air. The young man is believed killed, and Rogers is hurled into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic. Neither body is found, and both are presumed dead.
Years later, the superhero team the Avengers discovers Steve Rogers' body in the North Atlantic, the Captain's uniform under his soldier's fatigues and still carrying his shield. After he revives, they piece together that Rogers had been preserved in a block of ice since 1945, surviving in such a state only because of his enhancements from Operation Rebirth. The block had begun to melt after the Sub-Mariner, enraged that an Arctic Inuit tribe is worshiping the frozen figure, throws it into the ocean. Rogers accepts membership in the Avengers, and although long out of his time, his considerable combat experience makes him a valuable asset to the team. He quickly assumes leadership, and has typically returned to that position throughout the team's history.
Captain America is plagued by guilt for having been unable to prevent Bucky's death-—a feeling that does not ease for some time. Although he takes the young Rick Jones (who closely resembles Bucky) under his tutelage, he refuses for some time to allow Jones to take up the Bucky identity, not wishing to be responsible for another youth's death. Insisting that his hero finally move on from that loss, Jones eventually convinces Rogers to let him don the Bucky costume, but this partnership lasts only a short time; a disguised Red Skull, impersonating Rogers with the help of the Cosmic Cube, drives Jones away.
Rogers also reunites with his old war comrade Nick Fury, who is similarly well-preserved due to the "Infinity Formula." As a result, Rogers regularly undertakes missions for the security agency S.H.I.E.L.D. for which Fury is public director.
