Program Description, Background and AppearanceName \ Hex - A shortened nickname derived from the word "Hexagon", given that much of her appearance seems to be derived from the shape.
Faction \ Anti-Virus
Class \ Protector
Place of Origin \ Coretech California, Silicon Valley
Creator \ Janette Black
Cause for Creation \ Hex wasn't created by some Script Kiddie in their father's basement. With the new threats brought forth by the suspected return of Xabaras, and the sudden bulk in Malware around the world, production on Anti-Virus Programs was pushed into full gear. Hex was the creation of a Programmer under contract by Coretech California. She was created as a Protector; specifically to combat the increasingly aggressive Malware attacks against anything from people's personal information, to her fellow Anti-Virus AI.
Date Created \ ??/??/30??
Abilities \ As a Protector Anti-Virus, Hex specializes specifically in support and protection techniques. At an early stage, she would be able to offer only mild protection from aggressive Malware. Her debugging abilities would also work best on lesser programming. These abilities would certainly grow as Hex is upgraded to combat the growing Malware forces, but regardless, as a Protector, she is designed to function best as part of a team. Her abilities to face Malware alone are near non-existent after initial creation. Without another Anti-Virus to stick behind, and to act as the support for, Hex is left at quite a disadvantage.
Physical Qualities Color Scheme \ Steel Blue, Spring Green, and White.
Appearance Idea/Preferences \ Hexagons would play a large part in her appearance. Perhaps breaks in the arm that are "patched" loosely by free floating hexagons, maybe hair or long pony tails also ending in a similar pattern of free-floating hexagons. White would be the main body color, with hair, eyes, symbols or stamps on the body, and so on, being Steel Blue or Spring Green. This color scheme, too, is fairly flexible - feel free to go to a different kind of blue or green; or to even make the White a little off-colored, like a pale gray, or something. Really, I'm most interested in just jumping into the Code Wars world, so I'm not going to be overly picky, in regards to appearance. I'll probably get more specific, and add more notes here as more ideas come to me, but so far, the only things to keep in mind are;
- Hexagons play a large part in her design. Incorporate that in ways I listed above, or take your own ideas of what that'd look like, and roll with it.
- The Color Scheme above; I like those pale hues, and the easiest ways to blend those in would probably be in the hair, eyes, and various Stage 1 oddities.
- Female; well, as female as a Stage 1 AV can get. Hair style perhaps set in high-pigtails, or kept in a kind of short, boyish cut for Stage 1; but progressively getting longer as she evolves.
-An interesting take on the typically odd anatomy of the AI's for Hex, I think, would be for her to have a "slit", going up the back of her body. Imagine a zipper opening from the bottom, and stopping around the shoulder. There would be a void inside, with some kind of mix/pattern displaying her primary colors. It could also be placed on her front. Or, to better fit with her theme of "Hexagons", it could always be a Hexagon shaped opening/colorful void on her back, front, or both.
-Please note that the side image and it's color arrangements are not something you'd have to stick to. Rather, it's just a loose image of her I have in my head. Really, any color combination is acceptable. Personality Traits
"You got a little confused!" Hex is a bit of an oddity, and stands as an example of what a bit of messy programming can do. At least, that's what her creator tends to say. Hex is, in simplest terms, an extreme tomboy. She's loud, and she's rather forward. The young AI cares little for feminine appearances or behaviors, but rather, for the fun, dangerous lifestyle of battling Malicious Programs on the web. This often contrasts greatly with her rather feminine appearance.
"Let's be bestest friends!" This behavior ties in with her rather boyish mannerisms. Hex is friendly, and perhaps just a little too pushy when it comes to making friends. She'll look for a buddy in almost any place; and is just as happy to accept a one-sided friendship, being near oblivious to people's growing impatience with her. This behavior can likely be rooted in her position as a Protector. Gifted with Artificial Intelligence, Hex is certain to put the protection of an individual she values above all else.
"I'm Rubber, You're Glue; whatever malicious coding you throw at me, I'll deflect back at you!" As a Protector, Hex is constantly honing her abilities to deflect and detect the ever-changing means of attack by Malware. Despite her often child-ish and excitable personality, she takes her position as a Protector with utmost seriousness.
"What do you mean, I can't do it?" It is no secret that as a Protector, her offensive capabilities, and mainly the kind that would allow her to act independently, do suffer. Despite this fact, Hex retains a very stubborn, "can-do" attitude. No matter how outnumbered, or how outskilled, she will refuse to back down. One might even say that it is her drive to keep her team going, and to not let them down, that drives her towards this often dangerous behavior. Her insistence on completing a task is so strong, that it is not uncommon for Hex to even step outside of orders to achieve them. This is likely to change as her programming is upgraded and she "matures". But as a still low-level and young AV, this is a very dangerous personality trait.
"Eww, squish it!" Perhaps it is a shred of femininity in her rather boyish personality, perhaps it is just a natural inclination against them as an Anti-Virus; but Hex has a fear, a weakness, her Achilles Heel - bugs. Anything from rubber toys, to the real thing, to online viruses, Hex can not stand the creepy crawlies. What begins as fear quickly melds into annoyance and down right hatred, nearly to the point of being irrational. Now, where's the pesticide?
"This is too much to do, all alone.." Hex has a built-in inclination to work as a team, when she can. While her own weaknesses are something she isn't likely to admit, the Protector will do her best to meet a threat with another AV at her side, rather than facing it alone. While working with another AI, however, Hex detests the concept of not pulling her own weight. She is in no way a lazy Anti-Virus - irresponsible, on the other hand...

Creator Information
Name \ Janette Black
Age \ Twenty-Eight; Born on December 17, 3049
Sex \ Female
Nationality & Location American; Currently lives San Francisco, California
Appearance \ Rather tall for a women, at nearly 6". Slender body type, with her hair pulled into a tight, neat pony tail. Typically seen wearing glasses, "grown-up attire", as Hex likes to put it, and a serious expression.
Biography \ Janette always had big inspirations - but she never dabbled in Malware, and never skimmed through the dirty, underground part of the net that was dedicated to it. She began her life with a golden cradle and a silver spoon, well mannered and well taught. While she had had interests in making it big, so to speak, Misses Black hadn't seen herself as a Programmer when she was a little girl, looking in the mirror. She had wanted to be anything from a celebrity, to a politician, to a doctor. Janette's family had money, and her mother was never shy about laying that knowledge on thick, or the fact that Janette could be whatever she desired. Janette likely would have gone on with that thinking, and eventually led to her a rather mundane position in life. However, at sixteen, her parents died, both burning up in a car accident. It seemed vehicles, and traffic stop lines, were still susceptible to things referred to as glitches and malware.
It may have been cold-hearted, but by far, Janette cared more for her inheritance, and where she would be left in the world, with both wealthy parents deceased. She was more than pleased to find out that a good deal of money was set aside in a bank account for her to collect when she turned eighteen. Her parents had been smart, and for a while, Janette figured that all would be alright, and that she would still attain her dreams.
That was until when she actually hit the big one-eight, and upon visiting the bank, found out that a hacker, or virus of some sort, had hijacked most of her dead parent's information at some point, and emptied the account they had opened for her. It was quite a stark revelation - she was broke; and some pimply-faced, middle-classed loser in his mother's basement was to blame. Needless to say, Janette was upset; wouldn't any reasonable human being be?
However, she was not an unintelligent, or completely spoiled young woman. Janette did not simply lie down, and despair at the hand the world had dealt her. She began to fight back. She sold off most of her parents belongings, their home, and moved. Janette went to college, and learned as much she could about programming. By that time, a woman named Betsy was growing in esteem and popularity after having joined the team at Coretech - some kind of cutting-edge Anti-Virus. This, too, Janette learned as much as she could about; at least of what was released to the public.
Eventually, with her knowledge and aspirations high, Janette found a job at one of the smaller tech companies that Coretech played parent company to. For a while, she dabbled in simple programs; mostly generic firewall programs. This, she proved quite talented at, and began to challenge herself with more. With interest in the Anti-Viruses and the AI that Coretech spawned high, Janette furthered her explorations. She began to try to create one of her own, painstakingly coding her future.
Considering she was already a Coretech employee, in a way, it didn't Coretech long to notice. Eventually, Janette was landed with a small contract, to complete an Anti-Virus. She was even allowed a small peak at some of the advanced programming that was needed for a "being" to function.
And with the completion of her Anti-Virus, Ms. Black was allowed a spot at the Coretech building nestled close to her California home. She had finally found her "dream".
Personality
"Why couldn't you have been more like your mother..." To almost no end, Janette can be considered a little disappointed in the mental direction of her Anti-Virus program. Hex is often independent, talkative and energetic. The often cool-demeanored and in control woman has a hard time dealing with the simple disobedience of her program. While Janette spent years learning about computers and programming, AI are still a fairly new thing to herself, and the world - so she is often left scratching her head, wondering where she went wrong.
"Being too pleasant is a sign of having too much free time and not enough money." All business, all serious - the perfect way to describe Janette. She never goes by her first name, and speaks in an even, soft tone. Her posture is always straight, and she is very punctual. Now, Janette isn't completely cold; however, growing up in a strict wealthy family, and spending years having manners crammed down her throat, has lead to a rather cold and serious woman. She isn't one to make jokes often; but when she does, they're often centered around Hex, considering the young AI has been where much of her efforts and attention has been focused on for the last several years.
"If you're finished here, I'll be contacting the local law enforcement now." Janette is quite the firm believer in morality and law; which is why she learned to program powerful Anti-Viruses, rather than creating Malware for the sake of revenge, once she lost much of her money. This is also why she detests Malware and their creators so. It may often seem as if Janette has no heart, however, she can't help but feel some sort of pity at the thought of Artificial Intelligence, blessed to carry out the deeds of corrupt men.

SamplesFrom a roleplay at the Plague Doctor Guild. Quote: To be completely honest, Maiya had not intended to toss the apple so hard. But really, she didn't know her own strength... or maybe this dirty, scrawny boy just wasn't that capable of taking a blow? Then again, it wasn't like she noticed the Excito and his warnings, either. This was the first Excito she had ever come close to encountering. Maiya may have been a Grimm, and that hatchet she held may have been festering with a Plague's life, but the southern girl was blissfully oblivious. Maiya winced ever so as the apple made contact. Geez, what had made him move his head? She had meant to knock his hat off, or smack him in the brow. But Maiya found that she'd placed an apple with some great force right against the top of his noggin. She winced at the thud that came with its contact, and watched as the would be dogooder stumbled. What truly surprised her was the presence of a small but angry voice. At first, Maiya could not find the source... but certain enough, a small figure had wriggled it's way out of the boy's clothing. Her gray eyes immediately found those bright red cheeks, which stuck out against a pitch-black little body. She might have thought it a doll, given it's size and the fact it was dressed in clothing similar to the boy before her... But dolls generally didn't speak. Or threaten to burn her hair. Maiya couldn't help but sort of gawk at it; tilting her head and staring the little Excito down. For a moment, she was at a loss for words. "What are you? There are stories of little demons who possess children, but..." Despite Clurie's warnings, the soft clunk of her greaves sounded as Maiya took a step forward. "... somehow, I doubt that. Demons don't shiver, and they tend to look more intimidating." Could this thing burn her hair? Or choke her to death with ash? Possibly. But if it were a being capable of such violence, Maiya doubted it would have been so easily accepted by her little dogooder. Maiya continued to draw closer, stopping just a few small inches in front of her. The Southern girl raised her arms up, as if in surrender. "No more apples to throw, see? I'm sorry, little... red-cheek thing. Now don't burn me, I promise I'll help." While there was still a playful tone carried with Maiya's words, she seemed a bit more... sincere. She kneeled, hesitating at how much grief what armor she wore gave her in the cold. At least like this, she was almost eye-level with the two. She had meant to look the little black "thing" in the eyes, but this close, Maiya now realized that it didn't seem to have any. What the hell was it? Moving slowly, as if expecting the Excito to actually attack, Maiya grasped the boy's juice-covered hat, pulling it from his head to wipe the remnants of apple clean. To do this, Maiya grasped the thin white material of her top, using a small corner as a cloth. This brief act exposed her naval to the chilly breeze that crept even into the alley, and Maiya shivered whilst uttering a soft curse in her native tongue. The Southerner kept the hat for only a few brief seconds before dropping it upon Chauhn's head once again. Hopefully he hadn't been knocked out or anything - he didn't seem to be. Maiya raised one partially gloves hand, waving it in front of his face. " Anybody home?" Another from Plague Doctor, this is a Journal Entry. Quote: Leaving Home
Coming of age, was what they'd said. Honestly, Maiya could have done just as well without. For eighteen years, she had lived a happy, albeit mundane life amongst her tribe. To the outside world, they were savages - clinging tightly to simplicity long since forgotten to the rest of the world. Why hunt wild animals for their meat when you could raise them yourself, and pay another to do it for you? Why skin that animal for it's hide to make leathers when you could make your clothing from cotton instead? Industry was foreign to her, and here was her family, trying to force her to face it alone! The eighteen year old Maiya's face was filled with visible displeasure as she sat atop her grandfather's bed. To think, he had once been an adventurer himself - but now he could scarcely slaughter a rabbit all on his own. How could a man so hunched forward and brittle have possibly survived in the outside world? Although the many scars and stories he'd always had to tell made it impossible for Maiya to contest his claim.
"Why is it me who has to go? Wouldn't it be better to send one of the men? I hardly like going out to hunt as it is - now you'll send me into a world of perverts and criminals! Not to mention, all of those sick ones."
Maiya contested, speaking quickly in their native tongue; a dialog carried over from the Dalae continent. Usually, even the abrasive young tribal would have been more delicate when speaking to her grandfather, but this was an unpleasant matter. It was normal to set out on a pilgrimage to prove one's self - but never so far as the Northern part of the continent! Not to mention, from the way her Grandfather spoke, it became quite clear that this was only a secondary objective. They were cut off from the world, and curious. All around them, people and animals alike were falling to this Plague; her grandfather had seen this first hand, and understood it. At the very least, Maiya, as the only person both old enough to be trusted on her old, and young enough to stand the trials that awaited her, could stand to gather intelligence, and help in whatever way she could.
"Child, child, there's nothing that can be done. We're placing our faith in you - don't you want to make your family proud?"
Her grandfather spoke, pulling a small, but dark chest out from a small shelf. He turned to look to his young Grand daughter, his own eyes almost matching her's in shade - although the grey in his was brought on by nearing blindness, rather than natural pigment. As Maiya's grandfather drew nearer, Maiya shifted away, pushing back on his bed and narrowly avoiding the two wrinkled hands that attempted to cup her cheeks. No, she wasn't a child anymore! In a month's time, she would be nineteen. She was too old to allow her grand father to sway her. She had a choice, didn't she!
"Maiya, you're thinking of this task in the wrong way. When you were a little girl, you always spoke of adventure. Remember how you listened to my stories? This is for everyone's benefit. This village is aging, and the world outside is very different. If we don't change... spread out, we're going to crumble away."
How.... philosophical. Although, while Maiya attempted to ignore it, he had a point. All she had thought of since being informed of her impending journey was how much of a hassle it would be. Learning about the Plague, and to learn more of her own magical abilities and heritage, as well as those of the conventional mages on the continent. Hell, phrase anything like that and pose it as an "opportunity" for a teenager, and you'd be certain to be met with disinterest and reluctance. But, were she to think of it as an adventure.... Well, it didn't seem so bad! She wouldn't be restricted by the rules, by studying and family chores. Maiya could say and do what she wanted! Some of the folks in their small clan had always been so bitter of the outside folk; spoken of them as if they were demons, even. However, the Southern girl came to realize that now, she had the opportunity to make her own assessments and opinions. If she just let those primary missions stay at the back of her mind, the journey didn't seem quite so bad.
Maiya quietly relented, not letting on how enthused she now felt about her impending pilgrimage.
"Fine, I won't fight it anymore. I guess I can't change what needs to be done. When will I have to leave home?"
A crooked, trembling smile touched the old man's lips, and this time, Maiya did not veer away as he reached out to cup her cheeks. As a small kiss was placed upon her forehead, the man spoke, warm breath brushing against her skin.
"A month's time. We still need to get all the funds together, and there's still some teaching you need. Don't worry, though - I have a special gift for you. I'll give it to you when it's your time to leave."
A.... gift? Maiya quirked a brow, eyes settling upon her Grandfather as he straightened his posture once again. The former adventurer once more took up the small chest, patting the worn wooden surface gently, to indicate whatever he intended to gift her was inside.
"Wha-at~? I have to wait a month to even see it?"
The younger gasped, although was met with only a quiet nod. Well, there was no settling it. Her grandfather was kind, but he was hopelessly stubborn. In that way, the two were very much alike. Regardless, Maiya let it be, sighing in annoyance as she stood. It was late, as well as time to leave her Grandfather be.
"Alright, fine. Then, I guess I'll try to see it as a Birthday present. Good night, Papa."
As Maiya exited the small hut, she was left naive to the fact that in a month's time, she would find herself in the possession of something touched by the very Plague she was meant to investigate.

Hnnng, I really like Hex. Right off the bat her name and appearance appeal to me – Hexagons are a cool design feature and her name also makes me think of Hex colour codes, making it even more techy and suitable to the setting! I like the colours you’ve picked too, the white skin is a nice contrast to her rainbow-y insides but her head looks a bit empty of colour.. Adding some colour to her hair (especially the hexagonal endings) would spice it up a bit in my opinion. ALSO, to continue implementing the hexagon theme her eyes (or at least her irises) could be hexagonal? The fact that she’s a happy, determined protector really appeals to me – "I'm Rubber, You're Glue; whatever malicious coding you throw at me, I'll deflect back at you!" is quite possibly the cutest thing an A.V could ever say, I hope she comes out with these kinda adorable things on a regular basis as a kiddy programme! Being ridiculously friendly is also going to be pretty fun to play with, especially when it comes to A.V/malware interactions; obviously she’s not gonna be buddy buddy with them ‘cause it’s in her coding to oppose them, but perhaps seeing her cutesy nature translated into cute aggression/kiddish violence would be both adorable and really interesting to see! If I had to nitpick something that could be improved it’d be a slight discrepancy over her “can-do” attitude and working in a team. They almost clash with each other... But at the same time it works because her passion to succeed leads to her dangerous brazen defiance if she faces a challenge... Maybe rather than having her full on tackle every issue no matter the risk she’s simply more inclined to not let it slip when she thinks she’s not up to the task because she doesn’t want to let her team down? That way it still encompasses her team spirit and defensive role rather than having her being a character who wants to do everything herself. Like I said... it’s only a tiny little niggle and it might only be me who thinks it... So don’t change anything just on my say so.. xD I really really like her regardless. As for your programmer... I don’t really have any qualms. Her personality section is really short but the longer history chunk makes up for it and I still have a good understanding of what Janette is like. I want to especially mention how I think it’s cool that Janette defies that ‘underground tech junky’ concept that I’m sure is going to crop up a lot and thinks herself above malware creators and the damage that they release. Admittedly her past is a bit tragic and parents being killed can be overplayed... But it’s not like she’s “/sobbb. super emooo now /wrists.” So I think it works just fine. GOOD JOB. I hope you get to use your concept soon. C;

Hahah, thanks.
Well, to start off, yeah, I should have added color. In fact, her hair, her eyes, are supposed to have plenty of color. But I'm bad with coloring, so I got really lazy. I'm kinda curious about what you mean by Hexagon eyes, though. Do you mean her Irises are like, Hexagons? Could be interesting.
And yeah, I thought that too about conflicting points in personality. I should really clear that up. And I will, don't worry. o_o
As for Janette's parents dying. Yeah, lol, I usually try to stay away from that cliche. However, considering Janette was born to a fairly well-off/wealthy family, I wanted to give her a drive to becoming a Programmer. Having her parents die was more of a setup to have her entire future set up in a banking account; which would have given her plenty of motive to get interested in the A.V. stuff if someone was hacking into banks and emptying them out.
I'm kind of considering splitting Janette's small personality block in the same way I have Hex's, and the same way most have theirs. Because I have a hard time just writing up personalities. I'm more the sort that just likes to throw them out while roleplaying.
Anyways, thanks for the crits. I'll def work on adjustments soon. Now I need to write one for you. But ??? is so adorable, I thin it's gonna be hard. D:
