Days off were a gift from whatever deities were out there, Anbu was certain. Today involved a nice book, the shade of a tree, and her ball nearby in case she felt she needed it. She was dressed in clothes she could move in; a pair of form-fitting, spandex-like black shorts with violet 'stars' sprinkled across most of the left leg, a violet top with only one strap, black elbow-length gloves, and violet and black lace up sandals. And her normal mask, with her hair pulled back into a thick braid.
Normally, Anbu wasn't one for the park, but she had some nice memories in it, and her mother was always getting at her to spend more time in the sun. Reading under the tree was a good compromise, the Scent thought. Especially since she didn't usually compromise. But...well, her mother had pulled out The Fan. Oh how Anbu LOATHED that thing. Any fool who said paper didn't hurt had obviously never been hit by it.
Now Nagendra's 'mother' had brought him to the park to get some bonding time in with her kid. Sauntering down the way, the draconic Scent was kind of down and out….until green eyes spotted, "ANBU!" Running over to her, he practically tackled the elder scent, "Hey!" Kellie followed him, raising a single brow, and grinning slightly, "Hey, kid. Don't tackle people." It really was so hard, sometimes, being a single mother of a kid like 'Gen.
Dumb little hardass. Moving behind him, she smiled kindly, "Hey. I'm Kellie. I take it the little brat knows you?"
Anbu practically started at someone calling her name, and then promptly being tackled. She relaxed when she noticed it was just Nagendra. "Hello there, again." She smiled slightly, then looked to the woman who had been with him. Ah...this must be his 'mother'. Her smile turned into a smirk and she nodded. "I am Anbu. And he does indeed. I met him shortly before Christmas." It was a fond memory. She pat Nagendra's head, being careful of his horns. "So what fun have you been up to, 'Gen?"
He grinned, and practically purred, leaning his head into the touch. "Not much...Mom there's been taking me out on family outings more often." So only she could see, the kid pulled a face. Kellie was still kinda smiling at Anbu, "I'm Kellie Nieve." She didn't falter in her stare, "And it's nice to meet another of 'Gen's many friends." A chuckle passed her lips, "He seems to get them everywhere he goes.
Anbu chuckled. "Ah~ Family outings. My mother was fond of those." Kyoko still was, but they usually happened when Anbu was out, which suited Anbu FINE. Besides...Anbu still got to take her baby brother places. She looked to Kellie and nodded. "A pleasure to meet you. And it's not surprising he makes friends easily. He's rather easy to get along with." And wonderful to talk with. Mischievous ALWAYS caught Anbu's attention.
Nagendra moved to sit beside her, kicking his legs back and forth, "Exactly! See mom? I'm a good kid." Somewhat, but small lies never hurt anybody. Kit was just watching, and within a moment, she kind of gave up. Pointing towards the plaza a little ways away, she murmured, "I'll be...over there. Have fun."
Anbu smiled in a way that, oddly, looked trustworthy. "I'll make sure he stays out of trouble." Or didn't get caught anyways. Once his mother was out of sight, Anbu looked at Nagendra, her smile turning into her usual dark one. "So, have you enjoyed your present?"
He grinned in a very similar fashion, leaning back, "Oh, I love it." Pulling the piece out of his shirt, he showed her, "I wear it alllll the time, not that mummy dearest knows." Oh yeah, did they mention he was a brat?
Anbu laughed slightly. "Sneaky little boy, aren't you? Though I'm not sure you'd have been able to pull off anything like what I did at your age. You seem quite proud of the fact you're male." She smirked. "Have you gotten any new baubles?"
He grinned and pulled three new things out of his pocket, handing her one, which...was a rather fancy pair of emerald and diamond earrings, "Nah, just the fact that talking anyone into anything is easy as ********~" He smirked. "These are for you, Anbu! A present, late, but still!"
Anbu was genuinely surprised. The only ones who had really ever given her anything were...those in her 'family' and Arius. She smiled and took the earrings carefully. "I don't mind the fact they're late at all. They're beautiful. Thank you." There was a sincerity to her voice that wasn't always there. Even she could be caught off guard.
He nodded, tucking the others back into his pocket. "Yeah! No problem! I've gotten good at nicking things from people. That, and charming the sales ladies into giving em to me. Although...guys are a bit harder...."
Anbu carefully put the earrings on, nodding. Since she didn't really have pockets, putting them on was the best way to make sure she didn't loose her precious gift. "I think it has to do with the fact most men around here seem to be hard-asses. Unless presented with a pair of boobs." Something she personally took advanage of.
He nodded, "I don't have those, but I like them okay! They're kinda nice to look at." The boy grinned sheepishly, gently ruffling his own hair. "Well, I like guys just as good too, though....both are really nice, after all!"
Anbu chuckled. "A boy after my own heart. Nothing wrong with liking both genders. Each has its own qualities of interest." SHE was quite happy to admire both men and her own gender, though managing to KEEP her interest was something only three her 'age' had managed.
He grinned and leaned backwards, "I haven't seen anyone I like though. I mean, I could like Rhiloss, but he's kinda mean sometimes." Making a face, Gen was toying with a ring he'd nicked, sighing, "I want somebody to like...I mean...Kit's okay and all...but....she's kinda....ugly a bit, isn't she?" It was mean, but true.....
Anbu shrugged. "She likely has her own qualities. What one person finds attractive is not neccessarily what another likes. Besides...she's your mother, in a way." She stretched, her arms going over her head. "I'm sure you'll find someone, even if it's just as a friend. I personally have been quite captivated by three people myself. Though...I'm rather uncertain where I stand with them. And one of them is a complete and utter flirt." She cared a great deal for Ari but...well, he was the embodiment of his oil.
He pulled a face. Nodding, slightly, he grinned, "I can get that. I've met a few people like that. They're kinda cool." He actually was fond of flirts. Because the boy wasn't really interested in relationships...yet. Which Kellie had said, a while back, "thank god'.
Anbu grinned. "They are indeed. He and I are very good friends, and have known each other for some time." She still remembered their first meeting, and the CHAOS it caused their parents.
He nodded, closing his eyes, "Mmn....I hate sunny days....they make me so sleepy sometimes..." Yawning widely, the boy's tail flicked back and forth, and he muttered, "I dunno why..."
Anbu chuckled and ruffled his hair. "Considering you resemble a serpent or dragon, that's not surprising. If you want to take a nap, that's fine. It's a nice day." And she wouldn't be bored, since she still had her book.
He smiled softly, and curled up with his head on her lap, "Kay.....Thanks, Anbu. It'll just be a short one....the-" A yawn cut the young draconic scent off as he stretched, tongue flicking out slightly, "sun's just so....warm..." WIthin moments, the boy looked nearly innocent in his slumber, a tiny snore coming from him. Nothing better than a friend's lap to fall asleep on.
