This meeting is for Eriot, and will be overseen by Nigel Price.
Location: Zakaria's Basement
PostPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 5:45 pm

There was something strange about the being that he was summoning - that was the first thing that Nigel noticed as he called forth the magic needed to perform the ritual. There was a lingering presence on the person, as though whoever it was had once been something far greater. The lingering signature baffled the redheaded mage to no end, but he refused to let it distract him from his current task.

Strange presence or not, this person was the guardian meant for the vial that was resting in his pocket. It seemed as though they were springing up like daisies now! Strange, since he and Zak hadn't been able to unload a single one for the past few months - now, it was as though they were giving one away every day! Which they were, and that fact suited him just fine. The sooner that they got rid of all these things, the better. "Hello - I believe I have something that belongs to you." Or something that would SOON belong to him, whether this person liked it or not - either one worked for him.

Eriot staggered a bit as he just APPEARED in a random location. He'd been in his home, working on figuring out how to make pudding... Cold milk he had understood, but what was beating? And what was a whisk? He never got to find out. He felt the summons before it happened, but only a split-second before it happened. And then he was yanked from the warm kitchen, and thrust into somewhere small, cramped and.... a basement? Honestly? A basement? It had to be - felt that way at least. He still had enough wherewithal to know THAT much.

And a man was talking to him. A rather... attractive man, but a stranger nonetheless. Something that belonged to him?

Now that his stomach had caught up with the rest of him, he put his hand to his head, and shook it a bit. Not used to such rapid travel, but.... Hang on a second...

"Belongs to me?" he asked, words a bit breathless as he was still gathering his bearings. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that it's yours." Nigel had taken the vial out of his pocket by now and was rolling the object in his palm. The redhead regarded the man before him for a moment before lightly tossing the vial of liquid to him. "It wants you - and before you ask, no, you're not supposed to drink it." That was the last thing that he needed to have happen, really. Though, he WAS kind of curious as to what WOULD happen if someone drank the contents of one of the vials...

But there was no way of experimenting with that without killing one of the vials, so that was out of the question. "You're going to need infant supplies. I would suggest that you stock up on them as soon as you can." Unless the guy already had some, but Nigel somehow doubted that. "You're going to have your hands full for a while."

The man caught the vial, and looked at it curiously. He wasn't upset by the news, nor was he completely prepared for it... but he would deal. And he'd deal as well as he could. Hearing the news wasn't all that shocking.

"Alright... Where can I buy these... supplies, and can you provide a list? Or... perhaps tell me what I need them FOR?"

He scratched the back of his neck with his free hand, and studied the vial in the other. It was... small... and liquid. Didn't exactly LOOK drinkable... Why would he want to anyway? Whatever... He curled his fingers OH so gently around it, and closed his eyes, giving a gentle nod to the man.

"Thank you... So much. I don't know why I feel like I should say that, but I do. I believe you have just... done something incredible for me, although I do not yet know what it is."

Now, Nigel hadn't been expecting this - he was being thanked? That was a new one. He'd been expecting some form of resistance, or maybe some yelling. Gratitude? That was definitely a new one. Had he summoned some kind of crazy person? If so, he was going to feel sorry for this kid. He was able to hide his confusion, however, and figured that he might as well answer the strange man's question.

"Any department store will work, really - diapers, bottles, a crib. General baby stuff." He didn't know all of the specifics - he'd sent Meggie off to do her own shopping for Shade, after all. He'd wanted no part in it, though the little brat had managed to swipe his debit card before going. He still needed to punish her for that one. "Ask a sales person when you go in. I'm sure they'd know better than me." Well, at least this one wasn't going to turn into a screaming match - perhaps Zak enjoyed those, but Nigel just wanted to get this over and done with. "You're welcome, I suppose." It felt strange to say that.

"Again... Thank you. Thank you." He lifted those cyan-blue eyes of his, and gave a soft smile in response to the help. "I suppose I should let you get on your way, but I will offer one thing in return for your generous gift.... A gift of my own. I may not have a lot of power left, but..."

He reached into his pocket, and curled something into his hand for a moment, before opening it. He'd taken a normal, everyday marble he'd been playing with in his kitchen, and infused it with light. It was a mottled-colored marble too, so it was pretty as well as functional. He walked over to drop the gift into the man's palm.

"I do have enough power left to at least thank you properly."

Nigel blinked at the mottled marble that had been deposited into his hand, rolling it across his palm. It was almost like a trade, he thought, and neither of them really knew what it was that their new 'gifts' were going to do - well, the summoned man might have an idea, considering that Nigel had probably given him a pretty big hint when it came to the baby clothes. Curiosity picked at the redhead though; what would its function be? He supposed that he could figure that out, later.

"Really, you...don't need to thank me." By the Goddess, this guy was taking well to being summoned so abruptly, handed a strange vial, and being told that he'd need to get himself some baby supplies. The mage pocketed the marble and gestured back to the summoning circle. "If you want me to return you home, then you'll have to step back onto that; I just need to reverse the spell." Really though, why should be complain about a meeting that was actually going SMOOTHLY for once?

Eriot reached out to take the man's hand in his own, and covered it with both of his. He smiled at him, held his hand for a few moments, and then retreated back to the summoning circle with a deep, low bow.

"Thank you again... I hope I will see you again soon.... Please think of me fondly if you think of me at all..."

He paused a moment. "The marble is a familiar spirit... It will boost your magical prowess as long as it is on your person. It may indeed... make summoning things - people - easier for you."

Nigel wasn't entirely sure as to how he should react to this unexpected gift. Perhaps he should just be grateful - the man's trinket certainly sounded as though it would be handy to have. "Very well - I'll be sure to make good use of it."

"Good luck." With that, Nigel summoned forth the magic needed to send the new guardian back to his home, the summoning circle once again swirling with energy as he cast the spell. Within seconds, the young man that Nigel had summoned less than five minutes ago was gone, as was the vial.

With any luck, the guy would have no problems with the child once it emerged forth from the vial.
