There was nothing Zak liked better than royally ******** with somebody's day; especially when his was not going as well as he would have liked. His favourite chair had fallen victim to his apprentice's hell-child, said apprentice hadn't allowed him to use the brat as a sacrifice, and had then proceeded to disobey everything he'd said to her. It wasn't until he had finally found a wording that she could not argue with that he got her down into the bloody basement to help him, and even now she was sitting frostily in the corner, casting hate-filled glares at him over the books she was sifting through.
"Oh, enough of your scowling, and put the name in the center." It could have been phrased as a question, but that would have been open to interpretation, and he'd had enough of her scheming for one day.
Scowling even deeper, Kalinka moved to write the name of the man who the Vial that Zak twirled in his fingers on the center stone of the summoning circle, stepping out as her master began to activate it. The familiar glow of her Master's magic filled the room, and she shielded her eyes from it as a person began to appear in the center. Bade Winters. She wondered how he was going to take it.

Bade himself had been having a fairly bad day. Today was a job #2 day, his gig as a barista and probably his least favourite of the jobs he had done in the past two years. The pay was minimum, the people were annoying, his co-workers were idiots and to top it all off he always came home reeking of coffee, which he hated. Today in particular had at least two people freaking out at him because some part of their order had been made wrong. Sure, that was a valid complaint but some people managed to be adults about it. He really wished some days that he could punch someone in the face.
So when his shift ended he sighed a huge sigh of relief. He was so looking forward to home that he booked it right away, not even bothering to change out of his work clothes. His mood brightened a bit when he thought about what he was going to do when he got home. A bath was in order to get rid of the smell and he was looking forward to the dinner Arthur (his landlord and boss at the best job he had worked in his life) had offered him for a job well done recently.
Yes things were looking up for him... at least they were. Right up until the part where he was suddenly somewhere else. One minute walking home and the next... well not. As he looked around and took note of the two other people in the room he thought to himself, 'could this day be worse?'. Out loud he added, "Where the hell am I?"

"Here we go." Kali sighed, rolling her eyes as she threw her hands in the air and turned away.
"What part of be silent did you not comprehend? Quiet! I'm doing business." Zak hissed over at her, ignoring, for now, the young man in the room. When his apprentice responded by merely making a face, he scowled, and whirled away from her. She'd pay for her attitude. Just not now.
"Hello, Mr.Winters. I believe I have something that wants to belong to you." He said, extending the hand which held the green grey vial of liquid. "You're going to need some parenting supplies. Or a good stone to smash this with before the child emerges. Your choice. Consider it a magical abortion." As per usual, he tossed it across the room - and got a book to his head for his efforts.
"By the goddess, what was that for?!"
"Quit throwing babies, you a**! It could smash, and it could die, and then it would be all your fault! GOD. See, this is why you're not allowed near Faust. Move. Move! Get out of the way, you a**, I will handle this." With waving hands and a deep scowl, the curvy red head ushered her Master away from Bade, and the vial.
Which suited Zak just fine. Attitude or not, he hated doing these damn deliveries. He'd been having an idea for a catapult of sorts; but of course, stupid Nigel would never agree to it. Him and his...ethics.
"I'm so sorry. Would you like to sit? Or something to drink?" Kali asked, turning back to Bade once Zak was safely scheming in his armchair."I know this can be a lot to take in..."

The conversation had confused Bade decently, he was vaguely aware of the comments about how this thing belonged to him and the comment about the parenting supplies and magical abortions, but it didn't make a lot of sense to him. As it turned out the concern for the safety of the vial was valid as it turns out, Bade very nearly fumbled the vial. For a moment he was very near to dropping it and probably would have if it were for the fact that people threw things at him without warning with a stunning regularity. Yeah his co-workers were jerks.
He looked down at the vial for a moment when he was sure he had a tight enough hold on it that he wasn't going to drop it. Inspecting it distracted him a little while the other two occupants of the argued and not looking back up until the girl turned back to him and spoke.
He frowned about at her, because really how could he be happy in this situation. A lot to taken in was putting this lightly and sitting and a drink were the least of his concerns. "I'd rather you told me what the hell is going on," he said, his annoyance showing through his voice.

"Please, just have a seat, and calm down, okay?" Kali kept her composure in the face of his annoyance, gesturing to a chair that hadn't been there before, seeming to have come from absolutely nowhere. Which it had; she had summoned it.
"I'll try to explain this as best I can. It's a little bit complicated. See, the vial you're holding in your hands contains a magically constructed child; we call them Implings. Each child seems to reach out to their parent, though there's no guessing why they choose the people they do, or how. They just do. And when it becomes apparent, we call them here. That's why you're here. That vial in your hands chose you; now, you're responsible for it." She gestured toward it.
"You're going to need baby supplies. And a lot of patience. This is a big responsibility, but there's a reason this kid chose you. He, or She, will appear sooner or later. As soon as the vial and your skin come into contact, the spell is activated. Be very careful. Implings are not...normal children." She offered him a smile. "If you have any problems, you can contact us." From nowhere again, she produced a business card, and held it out to Bade.
"Don't ask for Zak. Don't ask for Nigel. If a man answers, hang up. They won't help you. They'll either laugh at you, or tell you something you definitely should NOT do." She shot a look at Zak, who shrugged, grinning rather wolfishly as he reclined in his chair.
"My names Kali." She smiled. "Just call if you need anything, okay? I'll try to help the best I can."
Zak rolled his eyes, folding his arms and sighing exasperatedly. "Oh, goodness, I have realized the error of my ways. Can we send him away now? You're making me sick with your nicey nice routine."

He took the seat that was offered after all, if only cause his feet still hurt from work. He hadn't seemed to really notice that it had come out of thin air. He listened to her spiel in silence, though still very obviously not loving the situation he was in, but it was the best he could do politeness wise for now.
So as it turned out, his day could get worse. Being told you were going to have a child forced on you, a child that is apparently more of the freak side of the spectrum didn't exactly put him in the brightest of moods. He wondered momentarily if they got many positive reactions for this kind of thing.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. I can't have a kid. I'm working two crap jobs just so I can feed myself, there is no way in hell that I can look after something needier than a house plant," He shook his head, almost violently as if to get his point across, he could not do this. "I can't look after it, so take it back, or something. I don't care if it called to me or whatever, I don't want it."

Before Kali could respond, Zak let out a barking laugh from where he sat.
"Now, see, that's not how this works. How this works is, whether you like it or not, you've got that happy little fun wrecker. And I am not about to take it back. It's not my responsibility. It's yours." He said, crossing his arms. "Like I said. You can feel free to smash it. Then it shouldn't bother you. The question posed now is whether or not you can handle the blood of an infant on your hands." It was not, he knew, something pleasant.
"Go on." He said, in a dark whisper. "If you so adamantly do not want this, get rid of it."
"Don't you dare!" Kali snapped, temper flaring. "There is a CHILD in there, Bade. A living creature! And it chose you. It needs you, for whatever reason, so it can survive, and live! You can't just abandon it! And I certainly won't let you murder it! It's just a baby, for goddess's sake." She glowered at him, clenching her fists. "It's unpleasant, yes, and it is hard, I know, but you have no choice. I didn't have one either, but Faust...he's a gift. And so is whoever is in that vial. Just give it a chance."

He had never really considered the smashing the vial option, because yeah he didn't like people but killing kids was not really one of the ways he went about avoiding. He was starting to get really annoyed about it right about now. He had actually been trying to be pleasent (because when people magicially pull you off the street it probably doesn't pay to be an a*****e to them) but all of that was just about over. A minute more and he might actually try and pick a fight.
But then he heard it the one word that would sell him on this idea. Abandon. As much as he didn't like thinking about it, he knew what that was like, personal experience that sucked. If this kid really had picked him (for what ever stupid reason, and it had to be stupid because there was no good reason to want Bade as a parent) and he just turned his back on it he was no better than the woman he hated for doing the same to him.
He looked down at the vial in his hand for a moment, before finally looking back up and through gritted teeth saying "Fine," there was a bit of a growl there too, making it clear that he was excepting but not happy about it. "But so you know this kid is going to be the most maladjusted kid there was, messed up beyond belief because I'm not fit to be a parent. Just so you know."

Kali opened her mouth to speak, but Zak cut her off, rising from his chair and sweeping his cloak-like coat out of his way.
"Hey. Not my problem. You've got the vial now. S'all I wanted. Now. Hold still, or a piece of you might end up getting left behind." Now that he was getting his way, Zak seemed to be in a much better mood; he was actually smiling as he lifted his hands, the floor beneath Bade bursting to life with light and a roaring sound, the acrid smell of magic rising as he banished the chair Bade was sitting on.
"Goodbye, boy! Don't come back!" He smiled, before clapping his hands; and effectively closing the portal behind Bade.
