I'm not. I really do love Japanese culture, especially geisha, and I have read the book, but that's not my only reason.

I saw the movie, and I read a few articles pointing to the fiction of the movie. Now that school is almost over, I really want to read "Geisha, A Life". I primarily joined this guild to learn more about geisha - and so far the RP is fun!

I have a fascination with Asian culture as a whole, but I admire the poise and discipline required in order to become a geisha. So, when I saw a member's signiature/link, I had to follow it to see what this guild was about. I loved what I saw, soI joined. It wasn't just because of the movie, although I did find it fascinating. Oh, I also believe that geisha are beautiful!

I have been facinated with Geisha ever since i was a little girl and my great grandfather would speak of them and tell me tales of when he was in the military and spent time in Japan. He showed me old black and white photo's and i always thought they were beautiful and graceful and mysterious. Ever since I have always wanted to be a geisha but of course that is an impossible feat for a westerner.
Even still i have read all i could and have researched Geisha Beyond the Book and the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" It was a beautiful written piece but so incorrect on so many details. I feel bad for the few geisha that are left in the world today. Their secrets have been exaggerated and tarnished to a small degree and yet i think in some way the book also helps promote their beautiful art and way of life.
