Buziba crept as silently as his clumsy feet could muster behind the trail of the dark lion. He had seen him in the distance, it was hard not to against this bland terrain, and had told his mother he wished to go see what it was. She had objected of course, in concern for his safety, but he had managed to sneak away while she slept. His adventures always had her naps to thank. Granted, he knew he scared her, but some things were just more important. Some things a boy needed to experience first hand. And that's all he'd been doing after all, experiencing. He hadn't been causing trouble, simply putting himself out along the path where he might chance a look at passing males. One of them had to be his father, he just knew it. This one, maybe not, he was too dark. But still something about him drew the cub in. He looked haunted, like one of those stories mother sometimes told at nighttime when he and his siblings wouldn't calm down.

Ataji was not unaware of the cub following him. He had ignored it, initially, because cubbins would soon return to their mothers, so he presumed. But it had been a while, and this cub showed no sign of returning. Ataji was angry, filled with hate, and woe betide any annoyances right now. With an irritable snarl to himself, Ataji began to stalk towards the cub, a slightly predatory way, like most lions, prevalent in his step. He was trying very hard to keep himself in check. The poor cub was just that - a cub.
