Audrey sat on her little stone seat, talking to what appeared to be no one. The only thing present was a small patch of coral, and even that looked sad and pathetic. "It really is a nice day. The sun is shinging through the waves so wonderfully, don't you think?"

"Almost blindingly so," Solaris agreed from behind her. He had just surfaced for a bit to feel the sun on his skin, and he had heard an enchanting voice. Without thinking, he had answered... and then he had laid eyes on the pink vision that owned the voice and balked. A girl..... that wasn't his sister.... oh dear....

Audrey jumped and spun around toward the voice, startled. "Oh...hello! I didn't hear you come up behind me..." She smiled somewhat bashfully, "I'm not in your way am I? I can move, if you'd like...or leave." She nervously looked back to her small spot of coral and then at the stranger. "Just please don't hurt the coral."

"Oh, no! You don't have to leave. I'm sorry, I just... ah.... heard your question and habit.... I apologize."

The sparkling pink merpony sighed with relief. "It's ok. I...just didn't know anyone else was around. It's not that often that the coral talks back. Especially this coral." Her smile lit up her face, "But I'm very glad to meet you. I'm Audrey."

"Solaris," he introduced himself with a small smile. "I can understand what you meant about the coral."

"It's not doing very well at all...I've been coming here every day for a week now and it's still not perked up...I'm starting to think it's not going to." Her smile faded as she looked sadly at the coral. "It's such a shame too..."

"Shame?" he prompted. He had a suspicion he understood what she meant, but experience had taught him never to assume when it came to females. They were far too unpredictable. It was best to know for a fact what they were trying to say than to try and interpret it himself.

"Yes," the merpony nodded. "This coral is used for medicine when someone has scale rot. It helps to grow new scales and ease the pain." Audrey sighed and tapped the water above the coral. "It's not something I'd like to see die."
