The Frustration of His Heart A Private Role-Play
The place was a deserted part of the Seventh Division. Ever since the grand event that happened between the Espada and the captains of Sereitei, this particular spot of the Seventh Division was covered in cold, damp weather; no Shinigami would even go near this place because a semi-heavy reiatsu pressure covering the area. The place was a common rocky terrain littered with tall trees enough to cover the sunlight in daytime. Now, the place is covered in deep mist that hides a lonely figure...
For several days now, the Seventh Division captain, Shizuka Hatomi, had been sent letters by countless members of the Seventh Division. They are concerned about the strange phenomena covering the lonely terrain just by the said division.

A travelling cloak was draped loosely around her shoulders, but she drew it closer to herself, needing the warmth that it could provide. She paused, a chill running up her spine at the sight of the deep mist that drew a shade on this area. It seemed like something was amiss after all. “An unnatural occurrence,” she breathed. Her sixth sense had decided to chirp up with the reply that this was most definitely the truth. “Completely unhelpful,” she muttered in a irritated voice. This time, there was no reply, but she didn’t really care for one at the moment. This silly special ability of hers was most useless in the long run, since it seemed to drift in and out of existence. Throwing the hood of her cloak over her head, she scanned the mist, looking for a sign of anything at all. As she had realized now, she shouldn’t have put this off for so long, since she had been reluctant at first to even bother with a place like this, as her own work and recovery was gradually taking over all the time she had to spare. Yet, she hadn’t been able to, and didn’t want to, in any case, ignore the letters that she had received about the area from members of her very own Division.
To tell the truth, she was not familiar with this area at all, only having glanced at it briefly when she had been assigned the role of the Captain of this particular Division. After all, she hadn’t expected an abandoned place to be extremely important, unless she somehow required more space in which to conduct her usual matters or for her subordinates. There was more behind this than she knew and that was what she had come here to figure out. Feeling the presence of an unknown Reiatsu, she concentrated, releasing and carefully controlling her Reiatsu to throw off any side-effects of the pressure. She came to a sudden standstill, her feet digging in as she stopped herself right on the edge of the mist. Entering might put her in a disadvantage, since she was literally be blind and there might be things that she would not want to encounter there. However, there was little time in which she could spend examining the area, so it was the quickest way to sort this entire thing out. Stepping forward, she grimaced at the lack of sight that was thrown upon her as she slid her zanpakuto out of her sheath, ready to fight if it came to that. She activated her Shikai silently, before calling out, “Is anybody here?” Her loud voice rang clearly through the mist and if anybody was there, she was certain that they would be able to hear her. She tensed her muscles, her eyes flicking from side to side as she tried to discern anything solid from this area.

((Damn, I don't know if this RP goes after the meeting or before the meeting. D: What do you think, Angel? And yes, you were meant to post.)) Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
"Why did he come back, Shizuka-taichou?"
Linuen's voice was cracking, sounding like he had been crying for days. But despite the falling voice, the Third Seat looked nothing like breaking down at all. In fact, he looked horrible. He looked so horrible that he looked murderous. His hair was unusually unkempt, despite the normal ruffled appearance from most days, and there were dark lines appearing below his eyes. His irides, however, did not look like the common soft-blue color but instead were red, blood red, in fact. His expression etched at his face were no depression or something that was caused by lack of sleep, it was rage. It was also notable that the charm that was always attached to his right ear, the one which his Sensei gave him, was missing. And in his right hand, was his Zanpakutou, smoking softly emanating of ever coldness.
"Tell me why..." Linuen Frost said again, his voice on the verge of breaking down. His eyes went watery but in no way tears fell at once. "WHY DID HE COME BACK?!" He screamed at her, at the top of his lungs. At once, his Zanpakutou changed appearance and became a spear, therefore showing his Shikai.
Linuen screamed at the top of his lungs again, his voice full of anger and frustration. "WHY?!" He yelled out louder than ever. Suddenly, there was a burst of massive reiatsu. Linuen had no control over it. At once, a convergence of tremendous force formed around Shizuka's surroundings. And then within a short moment, gigantic spikes made of pure ice burst forth from the ground and then attempted to impale and destroy Shizuka's body into thousands of pieces.

Clenching her teeth together, she forced herself through and then past the emotion, grasping control of her mind again. It took her several seconds to isolate the emotion away from herself, during which she had to seal away most of the anger and repeatedly tell herself that it was not hers. Rage was one of the worst emotions and the most draining, especially if she had allowed it to continue to take over. Focusing her energy into keeping a blank slate of emotion, she wondered what the source of this rage was. As soon as she heard a familiar voice nearby, she turned her head slowly, blinking several times, as if not being able to believe the sight that lay before her eyes. Her surprise vanished soon after, as her shoulders slumped, her hands shaking and her eyes tired and full of sadness. “Must I lose you as well?” her voice was trembling, “I-I-I-I don’t understand what you’re talking about, Linuen.” Who was ‘he’? She couldn’t understand what was going on. All that she knew was that this person was the cause of this entire problem and she needed to somehow sort this entire thing out.
However, as she knew very well from the initial wave, she was in a precarious situation. Usually, there were at least several people around her, with varying emotions, and she would have been able to balance herself between them. Yet, here she was in a deserted place and there was only herself and Linuen here. She could not be of any use in balancing and there was a chance she might lose herself as well. Her own control was slipping and there were countless emotions there, which she had held back purposefully, that were rising up slowly. Flinching as he shouted at her, she watched him helplessly, a single tear rolling down from her left eye. “I don’t know why, I don’t know anymore than you do,” she replied in a tired voice, unable to do anything and feeling completely worthless. As the Reiatsu flared, she felt as if she had been dealt a slap to the face or had cold water thrown over her, as her mind instantly jumped back into action, overriding the negative thoughts that had been seeping and contaminating her. Feeling that there would be a coming attack towards her, she whirled around, shifting dimensions. She darted through the area, before shifting back and on the opposite side of Linuen. There was a large cut trailing up her left arm as well as other injuries, which were scattered over her body – a direct result of her distractedness. “Talk to me, Linuen. I don’t want to fight you. Not here, not now, not ever.” she pleaded desperately with him, trying logic and hoping that he would listen to her reasoning.
| Well, I think before the meeting might be best, since something might happen at the meeting later on, which we won't know about. Might be easier. XD |

Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
All Linuen saw was his face. He did not know. And above all else, he didn't want to accept the fact what that person got himself into. No. Was it going to repeat all over again? Was it going to be that everyone he cares for will die? With all the ruckus happening all over Soul Society, it was likely that person might die... if not of battle, then of Linuen's hands for his anger. Why did he come back? He was sure of it... Linuen was sure of it... Meanwhile, Linuen didn't know at all why he was losing control. Why? Was it the rage? But he really couldn't control it. It was like eating his core. He wished to see his Sensei... and guide him...
He gasped for air and the blew a lungful of cold air as soon as Shizuka stepped out of that skill of hers. "If he's going out there..." He spat bitterly, his deathly gaze boring into Shizuka. It seemed unlikely of Linuen. It was not him at all. "I'm going to kill him myself!" He screamed at her. He didn't know why he acted like this. It's so...
"You're still not telling me, you stupid boy!" Alestha cried out loud from inside him. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Get over it! These emotions does not hold my power from being kept! You useless fool!" She screamed in frustration. "I can't control anything down here!"
Linuen tightened his grip of his Zanpakutou. "You... You're all going to leave me in the end..." At that, the dense mist became denser than ever. It became so heavy that it became strenuous to Linuen, too. He gasped for more air as his reiatsu fluctuated all over the place, indicating his further lose of control.

That was the only word that she could use describe the situation that she was finding herself in. Emotions, ones that she had thought were locked up a long time ago, were slowly inching back into her mind and it was getting harder and harder to resist. She could barely look Linuen in the eyes right now and it was killing her slowly. Noticing a flutter of gray out of the corner of her eyes, she lifted her head, seeing Getsuei. Her spirit didn’t seem to be pleased at all, which wasn’t a change at all, and simply mouthed, “Pathetic,” before disappearing. That one word felt like a cold bucket of water had been thrown over her and her grip tightened on her sword, as she sharply inhaled. It would be a risk and potentially damaging, but it was all that she could do now. Calm washed over her as she manipulated herself, cutting off the flow to any extremes of emotions and effectively restoring her normal state.
It was a different girl that looked straight at that hate-filled glare of Linuen, meeting it with her own level gaze. There was no time to be weak, to dwell over past things. This was the present and something she would need to deal with right now. “Cut this nonsense out right this instant,” her tone was sharp, rebuking him and reminding him of his duties, “You’ve been driven mad and if you calm down, it will be fine. Don’t force my hand against you.” All she knew about this was that there was a ‘him’, perhaps somebody close to him. Grief did this to people and it was likely that this would have happened as a result of both of those that he treasured, dying. First Kei, then Adachi. Focusing on that thought, she let out a sigh, before striking one last blow with harsh words, “What do you think Kei would think of this behaviour? Get a grip on yourself and reality!” She watched him carefully, waiting for a reaction. It would be soon that she would have to act, since this mist was already causing a problem for her and the Reiatsu was just barely manageable. “Alestha,” she called out, seeking a different course, “Help me anyway you can. Either it’s going to be you probing his mind or it’s going to have to be me.”

Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
Alestha shrieked at the top of her lungs. "NO! You don't understand!" She cried out loud towards Shizuka. "You really don't know the nature of my powers, don't you, onee-chan?!" She asked, her voice bitterly harsh as she spake the words towards the Seventh Division captain.
Linuen cracked his neck and then gave off a heavy sigh, his gaze still boring towards Shizuka. "My powers..." Alestha began, her voice suddenly becoming hesitant. "Was created due to the bitterness of Linuen during the times of his grievance for that stupid Aoi's death. Did you know that Linuen was originally a water-type Zanpakutou user? Yes, he was... he was exactly like that foolish old man!
"Linuen had the ability to unusually project his emotions to everything. Everything. When I was created, I immediately thought it was the true power of this boy - the power to project and change his very form in accordance to his emotions." She continued, her voice slightly trembling as Linuen's breathing became harsher and harsher by the minute. "But no... it was not" She paused. "He was nothing but emotionally weak. I was created by his soul to protect himself from the pain of emotions he was cared for - the emotions that hurt him the most, too. The water became cold. The water became hardened. The water became bitter. I was created."
Linuen laughed sinisterly; it was nothing like the calm ones that he usually portrayed. It was evil. No, rather, it had no emotions. "But..." Alestha said, her form now appearing behind Linuen, a hazy figure of smoke, so fragile-looking, so weak... She never looked so sad. "He learned to find those emotions once again... again... all the pain. He figured the way to happiness and it was there all along, too - the pains were hand-in-hand with pain. Sadly though, it was the pain... it was really the pain...
"Emotions makes me weak, onee-chan. No, emotions kill me. Or at least, strong emotions kill me... particularly, the pain..." Alestha said, her voice getting weaker by the second. "But you know what to do, right? After... all... you're... a... ca... p..." And the voice faded.
The bitter coldness of the whole place snapped. The temperature massively degraded. The coldness heightened. The sinister form of Linuen became more and more twisted. Within a moment, icicles began to form around his body as if he was freezing, yet, he smiled sinisterly at Shizuka. His first victim. "Finally, she's all done for..." Linuen said, his voice deeper than before. "You can't be serious that you have been ordering me around, are you, Captain-girl?" Linuen cackled devilishly, the temperature of the place fluctuating to absolute zero and below. Literally, the trees and ground and the entire area looked like a massive formation of icicles but Shizuka would have been spared by her reiatsu.
"It feels great!" Linuen exclaimed, his grin not falling from his face. "It's so... ragingly delightful!" He added and then, massive chucks of ice fell from the skies heading towards Shizuka, attempting to bludgeon her in a split-second.

It reminded her of the sibling that she would never have and of the painful past, when she had desperately wished for one. Listening intently and hoping that there might be some sort of clue to the manner that he was in, but unfortunately, there wasn’t much that she could wrangle from it. Instead, she focused her sights on Linuen, her glare becoming more pronounced as the seconds ticked by. It was interesting that he was apparently emotionally weak, since she had the ability to seal it away if she wanted to. Perhaps she should have asked a while before, so that they wouldn’t have to go through this situation. Pain was something that was necessary though, for people to be able to realize who they were and live life to the full.
Pay attention. Concentrate on one thing. Getsuei’s reprimanding voice filled her head as Shizuka, on the outside, shrugged her shoulders helplessly. “Emotions make her weak, so how is that supposed to help me, Getsuei? I deal with emotions, but I cannot seal them without permission. You of all people should know that.” she seemed to argue with herself in furious whispers. The reply was swift and short, Think about the cause, you silly girl. Cause of this? She didn’t know that and she doubted that she would be able to find it soon. Before she could speak again, her spirit butted in for the last time before retreating into silence again. Not that, I meant the cause of Alestha in the first place. Confusion flittered across her face, before it vanished, replaced by a sudden understanding. “Oh. That’s what you meant,” she breathed, glancing briefly down at her sword for one reason or another. Deciding to leave that as a last resort, as it would be emotionally and mentally draining on both of them, she winced slightly as the cold increased. Her Shikai was not going to help her now, so she called, “Tekateka Getsuei. Bankai.” Her Reiatsu flared, dropping on the area in its full force, before she suppressed it again.
As the chunks of ice headed in her direction, she merely shook her head, darting forward and neatly dodging them. She appeared in front of Linuen, not attacking, but trying once more to reason with words. “Kei Aoi,” she uttered blankly, “Did he mean nothing to you? Are you destroying his memory now? Just like that? I wonder what he would do, if he saw you like this. Death is a natural process, we will all have to go through it one day even though one might fear it. Hell, I was scared when I was near death, but just accept it.”

Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
The smirk on the berserk Linuen faded as soon as Shizuka merely moving to avoid his first strike after gaining, illegally, the powers of his Zanpakuto after "killing" her into silence. His mind was clear and his thoughts and powers were going on a straight path but he didn't expect this... something troubled the boy deep inside him.
Then, all of the sudden, Shizuka was before Linuen again. Immediately, he pointed the tip of his spear against the neck of the boy's captain, threatening to kill her with a simple snap of his spear. As began talking about Kei Aoi, memories, death and fear. Yet, somehow, as if the real Linuen was plunged in a deep river, he gave off a sinister laugh as if he found Shizuka's words amusing. Kei was nothing to Linuen... he was just a crybaby that longed for guidance... and now, he had power. But...
Linuen's face became contorted with anger and fury. "What do you know about the pain I experience, b***h?!" Linuen screamed at her face. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MY SUFFERINGS?!" He exclaimed at the top of his lungs. As if coming from a distant land, Alestha's cry of pain weakly sounded. Yet, he grew stronger than before once again. Then, he waved his spear in front and immediately sent hundreds of shooting icicles towards Shizuka, attempting to gain distance between them...
Wait, why did he want to gain some distance?
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" Linuen cried at the top of his lungs once again, shooting farther from Shizuka as if finding her presence scary. "HE'S DEAD AND YOU'RE ALL GOING TO BE! EVERYONE!" He screamed once again and this time causing the entire field to explode with countless massive ice spikes from all around.

Her instincts were screaming at her to run or at least, hold her sword up ready for a fight, but with some effort, she forced herself to stay still. It was a gamble and a dangerous one at that, but she had to know how far he would go in this state. In any case, hopefully, she might have been able to have a few seconds warning from his thoughts and that should be enough for her to be able to protect herself in time. His flow of thoughts were matching his manner quite well and she had a feeling that she wasn’t going to be able to win this battle, or she was going to have to let something go in order to balance another. The rage was clearly written on his face, especially in his words, and it was ripping her heart in two. However, the pain was soon replaced by a cold anger of her own as he shouted at her about a particularly touchy subject.
There was little time to dwell on anything, as Linuen had chosen that moment to attack her. Although there was a split-second warning, there was still the chance of a mistake or a random attack that might hit her. Throwing herself away from him, she made a quick mental note that Mangetsu wasn’t needed for the moment. It seemed as if there was just the tiniest spark inside of him that opened up a rare chance – that that she was going to take full advantage of. Flipping herself upright, she began dodging as well as weaving her way out and in of her other dimensions, all in an effort to stop herself being hit. In the end, she ended up only a short distance away from him, albeit hovering in the air in order to avoid the ice spikes on the ground. The cuts over her body, especially on her feet, had multiplied rapidly, but she ignored it for the meantime, categorizing it as only a nuisance for now.
With that dealt with and out of her mind, she slowly turned to face Linuen, her face an expressionless mask as she uttered in a cold and detached voice, “I assume then that I did not feel anything when the last Captain Commander and Tenth Division Captain died. Nor when I heard that the Twelfth Division Captain had went missing, as well as countless others. Or perhaps you’re referring to Sujoo here? Apparently, I do not know pain at all.” She twirled her blade in her hand before clenching it tightly, “Yes, it can be said that I do not completely know suffering as a result of that. Yet, how come I can feel everything when I change to Shikai? I’d call it a curse without a second thought, if it wasn’t for the fact that I can help people. Alright, maybe these feelings are fabricated, stolen from others and not my own. In any case, Shakkahō,” She shot an attack at him, hoping that he might be caught by surprise, before continuing, “True, I never really knew Kei Aoi very well, or some of the late people that others grieve for. But I should let you know something – my own mother, just before I entered the Gotei 13, died. Just a thought to keep in mind, eh?”

Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
Upon hearing the Kido run out of Shizuka's mouth, Linuen Frost jumped backwards with a short gasp as the Kido shot through the air. At once, he struck his spear at the ground and then released a massive burst of reiatsu. Suddenly, a tall wall of ice about five feet wide sprang from the earth and then shot upwards for about ten feet. The Kido then struck the ice wall and then caused a slight melt at the surface of the barrier. Linuen screamed in frustration and caused the wall to crumble into thousands of pieces, also unusually causing a rumble deep in the ground.
"Don't mislead me, woman!" Linuen exclaimed in anger. "Don't confuse me with words and let's get this over with!" With that, Linuen sprinted towards Shizuka carelessly and with a swift motion, thrust the spear towards Shizuka. At once, a strong, ice-based energy shot towards the target and caused a massive explosion of cold aura along the way. The trees, which turned to ice earlier, broke into pieces and then were thrown aside at the massive attack from Linuen.
"You'll never understand! NEVER!" Linuen cried at the top of his lungs. Once again, Alestha's tortured cries of pain resounding deep whitin Linuen's soul across the eerie, frozen forests. "Seeing your friends and loved ones before you die... YOU... WILL... NEVER... UNDERSTAND!"
And then, another wave of massive energy rippled throughout the place which caused the ground to break into thousands of pieces. And all of the sudden, Linuen's arms limped and he dropped the spear. But before hitting the ground, the crystallized spear broke into thousands of pieces. A solitary tear fell from Linuen's right eye and then immediately turned frozen. He gave one sigh as he looked around with an unfocused gaze. And then, he slowly fell down.

To tell the truth, she wasn’t sure exactly how far she was going to have to go to get some sense into Linuen, but the only lucky thing was that her zanpakuto wasn’t built for offensive purposes. On the other hand, it did make fighting a very long and tedious process and she was most likely going to have to attack sometime soon with something more powerful, rather than the simple Kido spells that she knew. “I’m not misleading you, I’m not confusing you, Linuen, I am merely stating what is the truth to me. Whether you chose to accept it is up to you although I wish to help guide you on the right path.” As he ran towards her, she was not fast enough to completely dodge the attack and was thrown backwards by the strange energy, a sudden coldness enveloping her. Hitting a piece of ice, she winced at the pain, forcing it to the back of her mind and slowly standing up.
Rolling her neck from side to side and checking out her other muscles, she turned back to focus at Linuen. “I understand more than you think I do,” her voice was cold as the ice that lay scattered across the ground as she glared at him with defiant eyes. Tightening her grip on the zanpakuto, she strode forward, deciding that this had gone too far and that she needed to end this as soon as possible. However, she was again hurled backwards, although this time she had the sense to merge into her other dimension halfway, as yet another energy-based wave expanded outwards. As soon as she steadied herself, she re-emerged, airwalking as she didn’t intend to cut her feet anymore. She darted forward, catching him as he fell, despite the fact that this could all be a trick in the first place. Gently patting his head, she looked up to the sky, her defences lowered and with a heavy sigh, she asked, “Linuen, why? Why do you do this?”

Linuen Frost Third Seat, Seventh Division Sereitei, Soul Society
"He shattered his own memories to prevent extensive damage to my soul and for me to regain control over my own powers." Alestha said, reappearing before Shizuka. However, unlike the negative-seeming aura of the Zanpakuto, she looked extremely wearied and tired; she looked like she had one week of sleepless nights. Alestha's hair was ruffled and her clothes were ruined. Her piercing blue eyes bore into Shizuka as the girl looked at the captain of her owner.
"As I told you before, Linuen Frost had an unusual ability to project his emotions to the real world. That was his ability." She continued, walking towards Linuen's limped body against Shizuka. She gave the boy one, long saddened look before he turned to the latter. "Linuen had the extreme ability to manipulate his emotions to everything he thinks is appropriate for a certain event. First, there was Kei Aoi's death. He changed. Then, there came the death of the captain-commander, which caused a slight disturbance to his feelings, too. And then...
"There was Tyrus Ares." She struggled to find the words to say to Shizuka. For a moment, the Zanpakuto looked like she was going to burst into tears but she did not. She gazed at Shizuka like she ever did earlier, emotionless-seeming once again. "Tyrus Ares was the last living representation of Linuen's past. My master... though I find it difficult to accept to label him so... was not entirely supportive of Tyrus' membership of the Gotei elite; those were his thoughts too when he became emotionally attached to his mentor."
"It is the suffocating feeling that the last of your loved ones are beginning to disappear due to war and strife. Linuen have had no control to that surge of emotional turmoil. He was weak." She continued on. "And since I was created to protect his emotions; and his emotions grew too strong for me to control that my grip overloaded and I was not able to manipulate Linuen once again.
"So, as a last resort, the boy shattered his own mind into thousands of fragments just to save the last of his emotions once again... through me..." Alestha paused and then looked at Linuen and then back at Shizuka again. But this time, the Zanpakuto's cheeks were smeared with tears of sorrow as she gave a pleading look at the captain. "Linuen Frost may never ever be the same again if this continues. "Save him... Shizuka-taichou." And then, Alestha broke into helpless sobs.
