It was only a matter of minutes before Todd had finally spotted who he was looking for. Well, one of the wolves he was looking for, at least. Dawn had started to arise overhead, so the den site was still dark as it was shaded by the trees. But even with the darkness around them, Todd could spot the grey colored wolf from not far off, watching Hati zombie-walk his way over to a tree and plop down beside it. Cocking his head to the side some, Todd was curious as to why the hunter was so down, but knew now was not the time to inquiry it. Instead, he huffed a bit, and began to approach the hunter slowly. "Hati, he began, calling the name of the other wolf. Todd stopped not too far off, keeping his stance tall by holding his head high and his tail erect. It was not in attempt to dominate this male -- but more so just because that was how he was. Being the alpha male, he dominated everyone in the pack. And that meant his stance was to remain such if he wanted to show he was still deserving that alpha rank. "I want you to come with me to find Elliyon," he added.

"She seems to have run off, and I suspect it is out of jealousy of the newborn cubs. However, with it being dark out, I cannot let her remain out on her own for long. So I want you to help me find her." Honestly, Todd was in the position right now to not take no for an answer. His eldest daughter was missing, and that meant he wasn't about to let anything stop him from finding her. If Hati disobeyed and did not help, then that would be dealt with later. But for now, he had one task and one task only: find Elliyon. So, without another moment wasted, Todd turned on his heels and began to trot off into the brush. He put his nose to the ground; inhaling deeply in attempt to pick up the scent of where his cub had went. There were new and old scents everywhere, but to find the newest one would be a challenge.

It actually took the alpha a few minutes to find the newest scent; smelling it trail off into the forest alone. Growling low in his chest, he began to follow it, hoping that it wouldn't be long before he found his daughter. Oh, how he hoped she was safe. She may have thought that he didn't care, that he had the cubs to worry about and all that.. but honestly, Elliyon was his eldest cub. She was his first pride and joy; his only surviving pup from his first two litters. How could he not care? Jade had other priorities right now, as nature intended her to take care of her recent litter and not the old one. Elliyon was old enough to understand, was she not? Becoming a young adult... well, she would need to get over the little jealousy acts. Then again, any cub would experience them. It was just the matter of coming to the realization that her parents did care, and that they weren't intending to ignore her. But newborns took a lot of attention... and even though Todd was attempting to spend as much time with her as he could, it was still taking away a portion of what Elliyon was used to. Perhaps they would need to have a father and daughter talk when he found her...

Coming up on the scent, it was getting stronger and stronger. And soon enough, the brown wolf heard voices in the distance. Growling low in his throat, he quickened his pace until he burst through the bushes... only to find Elliyon speaking to their new ally, Acheron. Narrowing his green eyes, the alpha curled his lips up to bare his teeth; his hackles bristling and standing on end. He kept his dominant posture, snarling and snapping his teeth before quickly approaching to put himself between the two. Yes, this black wolf was considered his ally now, but no, Todd did not trust him with his cubs. He was granted access to be at the den site, but that would mean others were around him and he was not alone with Todd's family. But out here? Well, there was no one around if Elliyon needed saving from this new wolf. Todd did not trust him that much. "Take your leave, Acheron," the alpha demanded. Not to leave the territory, but more so just... leave them be. He snarled again, snapping his teeth at the black wolf in warning.

The week had gone been long. Things had happened that Dakota wasn't all too proud about, but he could probably speak for the rest of his pack when he said he was getting irritated that his wolves were dying. Either someone in the pack killed them, or someone in another pack did. But all in all, Dakota was just getting angrier and angrier as time went on. Shiva, Anika, Atreyu. Shiva and Anika were both killed by forest wolves -- well, one forest wolf and one mountain spy. Atreyu was killed by a rogue, as it was said, but a rogue that lingered within the sea pack territory. Basically, everyone was dying, and Dakota wasn't entirely sure what to do about it than what he knew best: be hard on people. His pack had grown weak, and he was quite dissatisfied with the fact. Sure, Shiva had it coming to her since she had abandoned Dakota during a fight with two strong wolves. And Anika was dumb enough to walk right into enemy lines with no plan and no back up. Atreyu... was just Atreyu and deserved it, perhaps. But in the end, it was just showing that his numbers were becoming limited, and they were dividing rapidly. Little did he know that he was possibly going to lose more wolves in the future, though.

Being in the alpha den for the time being, Dakota had taken some time to himself to think. Morning had set over sky, and the weather was cool and clear. Summer was still here, though it was sure to grow colder soon enough. Still, Dakota took the time in the alpha den to think things over; get a sense of a plan in his mind that he was able to take. What to do, where to go, how to win this everlasting war. His pack had grown weak, and that had caused the deaths of many of his wolves. He had to find a way to make them strong again; find a way to make them act as one -- as a team. And to use their heads in battle, rather than just their instincts. A combination would have been best, no?

The sound of someone outside of his den had caught his attention, though blue eyes just opened to blink a few times. It was then that a voice came through the small opening to his den, and Dakota lifted his head in order to look over at the opening. He could already tell who it was just by the sound of their voice -- as he had become quite fond of the female outside his door. Bringing himself to stand, the alpha male carried himself through the opening in his den; squeezing his body out and shaking himself out once he was free. The shake was followed by a stretch, though. First the front, then the back. And once things seemed to be settled with himself, Dakota turned to face the red fae before plopping his read on the ground and waiting to hear what she had to say. Surely it was something of interest.

Talk of the kill pile being low had certainly been brought to his attention yesterday, as it had been a while for all of them to have eaten. Dakota's stomach growled at the mention of the kill pile, though, and he turned his head in the direction of where it should have been at. Yet, there were a few scraps and bones laying in a scattered position. That was not good.
"I've noticed," he said, turning his blue eyes back to the red female before him. Oh, she was quite attractive. "It seems to have become a problem. In which case, we'll need to start stocking up the pile again. I, for one, am unsure I can handle Notch howling anymore. Though I've taken him under my wing, I might end up snapping his neck." It was a joke, of course. ...Or was it?

Bringing himself to stand again, Dakota gave the female a quick look over.
"Gather the others for a hunt. Everyone except Dmitri, Notch, and Rasputin. You're leading it, Potema." Moving forward a bit, Dakota nudged his maw at Potema's chin; seeming to do it playfully. There was meaning behind it, though -- as it was a small amount of affection. Something that might just encourage her. "I'll be standing back to see how you do. You're not only leading the hunt, but you're in charge of everyone. We'll see how your leadership skills turn out." And, with that, Dakota turned to go find Dmitri. He would need to speak with the healer for a moment before the hunt happened.

Being domesticated at one time, Kodiak knew of loss. He knew of hurt, and betrayal, and he knew that nobody stuck around forever. Whether it was their own choice, or the choice of destiny... Kodiak knew by personal experience that nothing stayed the same. He had lost his family; his mother, sisters, and his masters. They had been killed, and he had run off like a scared child rather than trying to protect them. It was not only his loss, but theirs... for all of them had lost their lives that not. All but Kodiak. And even as he came into the wild, he was unsure of what to do. He'd learned to handle himself. To hunt, to fight, to be a wild animal. But deep down, the pain of losing everything he'd ever known was still there. It was not intentional, no, but it was still enough to make the wolfdog wary of ever letting anyone close to him again, Losing so many loved ones at once could do that to a canine, ya know? Make him scared to lose more; scared to hurt. The lone life was not something he enjoyed, but it was better than being betrayed, or being hurt later on, was it not? Oh, how he dreaded the day someone hurt him again... Little did he know, that hurt was coming sooner than he thought.

By the time the hybrid had awoken, the air was cold. He and his companion had slept all day, it seemed, as the sun was already hiding behind the horizon, and the moon had taken over the sky. Different colored eyes opened slightly, blinking a few times before Kodiak's head raised from where it had laid during his slumber. His maw opened; a large yawn coming from it. Boy, that was a great sleep. Having filled their bellies, he knew that the two were likely to continue on sleeping until they were ready to get up; and for Kodiak, that seemed to be at this very moment. Shifting his position a bit, Kodiak rolled some to lean against his female companion that was beside him... only he fell right onto the ground. The male lay there for a few moments, still as the night, blinking a few more times as he had before. Throughout his sleep, he had leaned and rolled against Sasha multiple times, and she had always been there to do the same each time. But now.. he hit the ground? Bringing himself to sit up, Kodiak's eyes glanced around; looking to the spot where the female wolf once lay before glancing around once more. Where was she?
"Sasha...?" he called, his ears perked in attempt to hear for any return noise. And yet, there was nothing. Kodiak was alone... again.

Perked ears slowly lowered to flatten against his head, and the malamute mix just remained where he was, as if he were expecting his female friend to come trotting back to where she had been before. It was clear Sasha had left while he was sleeping, but why? Maybe she went to get a drink of water... yeah, that sounded good. Water. Surely she would have went to get a drink before coming back to him waking, yeah? Lifting himself from the ground, Kodiak stretched his body out. His rear went into the air, and then his head; his back and legs being stretched and making a few popping sounds from being stiff during his slumber. Once the stretching was complete, the wolfdog then shook his pelt out. The loose skin and fur moved around; some fur flying off in the process as the shake began at the tip of his nose and ended at the tip of his tail. Ah, that felt better! Now... it was time to go seek out his female friend. She had wanted him to stick around, no? They had basically made a deal of staying together for a few days... so surely she didn't run out now. So, with that thought, Kodiak began to head toward the closest area of water.

It didn't take long before the hybrid arrived at a small area of water. He looked around, trying to see if Sasha were nearby getting a drink, but there was nothing. His ears went flat against his head again, but he moved forward and grabbed a few laps of the cool liquid. And as soon as that was done... he went straight back to the kill they had made before they had fallen asleep, hoping she would be there waiting for him. Needless to say, there was nothing. No Sasha. No sign of her, even... and that hurt.

Sighing softly, Kodiak's body posture lowered. His tail fell limp, and his ears went against his head as his eyes lowered to the ground. Where had she gone? Why had she left? Did he do something wrong? It felt so nice to spend the night with someone else... another canine who didn't scare him, or be scared of him. Someone who brought down a nice kill with him, and someone who cuddled with him when he slept. Oh, how amazing it felt. At first, he had been skeptical of Sasha. Secure, and hesitant on going anywhere near her. But after a bit, he had to admit... she was cute, and funny, and nice. Something about her was making him loosen up a bit around her. But now... that changed. She left when he was asleep. Didn't say goodbye, didn't do anything. Maybe she had her reasons, maybe she didn't. But whatever the explanation was, Kodiak was not happy. No... he was sad. Very, very sad that he once again opened up to someone and lost them.

Sighing lightly, Kodiak was about ready to give up. He was ready to just lay here and rot, or just move on with his life or something. But right now, the idea of laying here sounded pretty good. He plopped his rear onto the ground, his eyes raising to the dead doe that was nearby before closing again while his head lowered. Kodiak was not a happy canine, no... he was sad. But just when he was ready to give up, the sound of a howl rang through his ears. It was in the distance, but it was not too far away. Perking those pointed ears up, the hybrid listened to its song; hearing its tone and beautiful noise. It took a few moments before Kodiak finally got up the courage to respond. Maybe it was Sasha? Maybe something had happened? Bringing himself to stand, the wolfdog's tail wagged behind him for a few moments before he himself raised his nose to the sky and let out a return howl. The sound was loud and determined; Kodiak was answering the call of another canine. Whether it was Sasha or not, he did not know. But he could only hope...

"He became quicker of movement than the other dogs, swifter of foot, craftier,
deadlier, more lithe, more lean with ironlike muscle and sinew, more enduring,
more cruel more ferocious, and more intelligent. He had to become all these
things, else he would not have held his own nor survived the hostile
environment in which he found himself."

Caydence was usually a social cub. Though she'd never really been around other cubs her age, she got along with the adults quite well. Some said she was mature, others just said she was cute and fun to watch. And of course, there were some grumpy ones who never wanted her around. But Caydence was the type of girl to rarely ever let things get her down. She was bubbly, hyperactive, lovable, etc. Yet, when something new like this situation came along, Caydence grew... scared. Or alert, rather. She was unfamiliar with this new boy, and she didn't know if he was going to be mean to her. Although, for the most part, the girl stood her ground and would be mean back if someone did something to her, this sort of changed things. The adults were different. They wouldn't hurt her (at least not the ones from her pack), and they mostly backed down if they were mean to her, considering Rafe was her father. But with Kye... well, this new pup seemed far too bold and upfront for Caydence's liking. He may just cause problems later on. And Caydence may just have to teach him a lesson if he got too close or upset her.

Backing up more towards Rafe, the young girl continued to growl and snarl at the new pup. She was unhappy, there was no doubt about that. And when Rafe nudged her forward some, she snarled a bit louder and tucked her tail between her legs before backing up against her father once more. She didn't appreciate being nudged forward, as she was clearly trying to back away from this intruding boy. But, nonetheless, she just corrected the push and backed herself further against her father's legs. There was no way she was getting near this new kid! This... mean, ugly, stupid, rude boy! But hearing the words 'play nicely', Caydence knew what that meant. When Rafe needed to go off somewhere, he would mainly say something along those lines, and that meant he was going to be moving away from her some. Of course, that wasn't always the case, but she felt now as if he was going to leave her here with this monstrosity. With this... boy!!! Ugh!

Perking her ears some, Caydence glanced over to her father for a moment before focusing her attention back onto Kye. He'd called her "weird", and then was asking what was wrong with her. Ugh! How dare he! Narrowing muddy eyes some, the small cub curled her lips back again and snarled at this new pup.
"There is NOTHING wrong with me! But there's something wrong with... with..." The words weren't coming out. Was she thinking of an insult? Something to say back to him that was rude? She really didn't know. Her eyes darted to the ground some, moving back and forth as if she were searching the dirt for the best thing to say. Nothing was coming. Nothing at all. But after a second, those muddy eyes rose up once again to look at him with a hard glare. "Didn't I say to leave me alone!" she shouted, growling at him some before she started to move away from him. Oh, she was hoping and praying to the moon that this kid wasn't about to follow her... where ever she was going.
