Aggron
Rock/Steel Type
Rock/Steel Type

"Aggron are huge, black and gray, monstrous bipedal Pokémon. They stand on their hind legs and may use their arms to attack opponents and pick things up. They have a thick, long, black tail that they can swing at enemies and they have large armor plating on their body and head. Their face and head is covered in gray armor, with the uppermost, pointed plate possessing two pairs of holes on its upper section, with horns protruding from the foremost holes. These horns, which it uses to dig tunnels through bedrock when seeking food, grow a little longer at a time and can be used to determine the individual Aggron’s age. Aggron’s forehead plating extends past their upper jaws in a small point. Like its pre-evolutions, Aggron has sky-blue eyes, and a nostril-like hole on the tip of its upper jaw. On the rim of its mouth are several pointed, fang-like protrusions, and the nape of its neck and back have gray-colored armor sections. Aggron have pointed black bands on their shoulders, and gray bands on their arms and legs." - Quoted from bulbapedia.
Did you Know?
Despite being part Rock-type, Aggron does not learn any Rock-type moves by leveling up.
Abilities
Sturdy - Prevents 1HKO moves
Rock Head - Negates Recoil Damage (excluding Life Orb)
Since 1HKO moves are banned, the ability is useless, so always go with rock head.
Base Stats
HP 70
Atk 110
Def 180
SpA 60
SpD 60
Spe 50
Aggron has very good stats, yes he's slow, but 180 Def and 110 atk is nothing to scoff at, he can double as a physical wall or a attacker. and 70 HP & 60 SpD is good enough to let him live a switch in to a resisted attack.
Speaking of resistances, lets look at how his typing stands up defensively.
Weak: Fight (x4), Ground(x4), Water
Resist: Normal(x4), Flying (x4), Ice, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark
Immune: Poison
OUCH! 4x weakness to both fighting and ground (two commonly used types) does not look god for it, but 3 weaknesses really isn't that bad. And when you look at its resistances he can switch in on alot, Including Stealth Rocks!
Sandstorm: Given the presence of sandstorm, Aggrons Rock typing will net him a 1.5x SpDef boost. bringing his seemingly low sp def to respectable levels. With this boost, Aggron can very easily come in and shrug off the damage.
Prediction: Aggron is a pokemon that can be very good, ot very bad, what it really comes down to is prediction. Knowing what pokemon to send him out against, and what attacks you shoudl expect is the key to a successful Aggron.
So, lets get down to some actual builds.
----------------------------------------------------
Suprise!
----------------------------------------------------
Jolly @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Speed
Moves:
Head Smash
Low Kick/Brick Break
Aqua Tail/Fire Punch
Ice Punch
As I mentioned before, Aggron is slow, so who's gonna expect him to go fast? This set allows aggrong to reach a speed of 327.
This is enough to beat a base 97 speed pokeom with 31 IVs & 252 EVs in speed and a speed boosting nature.further more, he can outrun anything that is 110 base and lower if they do no thave a speed boosting nature.
Now, this may not sound too impressive, but lets look at some of the pokemon we can deal with...
Zapdos - alot of zapdos prefer to run defensive sets, you can suprise them with a head smash, and probably take it down in one hit.
Electrivire - They'll except to outspeed and take you out with an EQ or a corssChop, surpise them and take them out instead.
Yanmega - as long as the yanmega doesn't have speed boost you can ourun it, but beware these guys commonly have focus sash's as well as Hidden Power fighting or ground.
Lucario - they'll except to take you down with a Close Combat, and instead take a fire punch, most likely killing it.
Others: Roserade, Rotom, Articuno.

Rock Polish
-----------------------------------------------
Adamant/Impish @ Life Orb
Ability: Rock Head
4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Speed
Moves:
Head Smash
Low Kick/Brick Break/Ice Punch
Aqua Tail/Fire Punch
Rock Polish.
Okay, so the previous set didn't seem very impressive to you?? Well this set boast great speed.
after a rock polish, aggron reach 398 Speed, this is enough to outspeed a jolly MAX speed jolteon!
Adamant nature boosts the damage you deal, where Impish increase you defense even further.
This set not only has amasing speed, but allows you to switch moves, unlike a choice set.
Like I said before, aggron has 2 4x weaknesses and lots of great resistances, the key to this set is predicting yout oppoent. Wait for an appropriate oppening, and send out aggron, aggron is good at forcing switching, use this to your advantage and get up that rock polish.
now, proceed to sweep.
Team options
If you want your aggron to live, its very important to switch him out and not let him take the deadly fighting/ground attacks...
as such, some great partners to have around are...
Gengar, Rotom, Zapdos, Gyarados, Dragonite
Gengar is immune to Fighting and ground
Rotom is immune to fighting/ground and is a good counter to water types
Zapdos is immune to ground, resists fighting and a good counter to water types
Gyados, immune to ground, resists fighting and water (all 3 of aggrons weaknesses)
Dragonite, immune to ground, resists fighting and water.
Gyarados and Dragonite are good at forcing a switch after comming in mostly unharmed on the switch. Use this switch to your advantage with both of them, and get up a free Dragon Dance! (with the Gyarados/Dragonite)
