Deathbug's emerald eyes snapped open and her ears flattened against her skull. Had she been human, her form would have been slick with cold sweat, but she was only feline. And a frightened feline at that.

She stayed where she was, claws deep in the earthy floor of her den. The familiar sights and scents of her usual remedies were comforting, but her mind was a racing blur. It had been some time since Starclan had brought a vision to her and it was one of dire importance, that much she could tell right away. Every fiber of her being quaked, but the usually stoic tried to keep her head clear. She needed to remember every movement, every detail, and every word of the message that had been brought to her.

After a moment of sitting in the stillness of her living and treating quarters, the Medicine Cat stood and flexed her claws, before sheathing them. She felt the need to speak, but with who? Her first thoughts turned to her brothers and sisters or her parents... But she didn't want to burden them, not with this. There would come a time when everyone would know, that much she felt deep within.

No...

She didn't feel as though she'd tell one of the leaders, either. Not at the moment. Instead, she would turn to one of the Deputies, one who had been appointed about the same time as she had to her position as head medicine cat. She trusted Patchpelt. And it was to Patchpelt she had decided she would go to as she slipped from her den into the openness of the clan's camp, bathed in what moonlight filtered through the dense foliage.

Patchpelt yawned and stood up trying to stretch the exhaustion out of her muscles. She had slept restlessly and couldn't seem to shake the morning chill from herself. Still, she couldn't let that get her down. Not when there were things for her to do. She trotted out of her den and paused, taking a moment to enjoy the quiet air.
