Ambergris was a dying town and Marra almost hated driving through it any more. In her mind, she still saw well maintained buildings, streets with a minimum of potholes and cracks, lawns and parks that hadn't gone to seed. Thinking about it made her scowl.
She drove faster. Sure, she could ignore the encroaching decay and sprawl and retreat back into her small oasis of sanctuary. Once she was done with this small task. The town might be dying, but her business was still surprisingly lively.
Her fingers absently twitched around the radio's dial. Nothing like a good distraction as she drove to pick up yet another stranded motorist. Poor roads and a desert to the north, never helped. It was almost as if people didn't know how to take care of their vehicles. Her scowl deepened, then lightened just a fraction, as a radio station finally came into tune. "-oment's gone. All my dreams, pass before my eyes a curiosity~" Whistling to the song, Marra drove to the location specified in the call, her tow truck bouncing along the dilapidated road.

Trust her, Nikki didn't really want to be stranded, at all. In fact, this was probably the last place she wanted to be stranded in too. The SUV she had taken from the Rocket garage was now on the side of the road with not one... but two flat tires. Not to mention, someone forgot to replace the spare that had once been in the back of the car. What the hell?! Why her?! Of all things, why did this have to happen now?
Now here she was, standing on the side of the road and leaning against the black disabled vehicle. Her arms folded across her chest and a sour look on her face. She had to call HQ to get someone to pick her up and/or take care of the vehicle. A Drifloon floated nearby, the Ghost Pokemon being her protection from the many ghosts in the town. The balloon was floating near the popped tires, one of its heart shaped "feet" held under its mouth which was shaped in the form of a sideways 3.

The smell of frustration was like a fine wine to Marra's senses. Well, maybe it would be if she were a drinker. Smoking was her vice, and she thought longingly of a pack... that she'd left behind at the garage. Frustration was much less flavorful when it was your own.
However, she could clearly see the SUV that was her job for the day, as well as the annoyed lady accompanied by a purple balloon outside it. She pulled her truck in front of the stranded vehicle. This would be pretty standard, it looked like. Parking, she exited the vehicle, muttering a "Stay put," to the white pikachu curled on the passenger's seat.
"Hey, there," She greeted, with an attempt at a smile that fell far short of the mark. "Looks like you need a lift. Marra, from Saller's Motors." Marra nodded to the SUV. "Let's see what we got here."

When the truck finally pulled up, the blonde heaved a sigh of partly relief and partly aggitation. Standing up fully, Nikki slid her hands into the pockets of her jeans.
"That's an understatement. These roads are a mess, I managed to blow two tires on a particularly vicious pot hole."
Changing the tires would have been no problem if she'd actually HAD them. And there was nobody nearby that sold them.
Bobble, now entranced by the newcomer, floated around Marra's head for a moment before his attention went to the truck. "Flooooon," he crooned while drifting to the passenger's side window to peer in. "Floon!" There was a Pikachu in there! How exciting! "Floon floon!" He tapped the window, trying to get the other Pokemon's attention.

"Yeah, they suck. Budget mostly gets spent on roads closer to town." Marra shrugged in a 'Whatcha gonna do?' manner. "I can make a note of it, submit it to the city committee, but it probably won't be fixed until hell freezes over," she commented, sounding surprisingly cheerful at that. After all, busted tires were good for business.
Kneeling, she poked around at the first flat tire. "Well, the axel and rim seem fine. Tire's screwed though." She headed over to the other one, giving it a quick glance. "Looks about the same."
Proping an elbow on the hood of the SUV, she craddled her chin in though. "I can probably scrounge up two tires for you. If you need a new spare, you might be out of luck. It's all what's left in town when we get back." With that pronouncement, she headed back to the truck to start the labor of hooking the SUV up to the tow truck.
Laboratory flicked an ear at the taping. Blearily, he cracked open an eye to peered at the window. Wait, what was that giant purple blob in his vision? He blinked, pawing the sleep from his eyes and took a look. Hey, that wasn't a balloon! There were so few people in town any more, he never got to meet any new pokemon. Especially not floaty ones like that. Yawning, he uncurled with a lazy stretch and padded up to the window. "Pi pi pii~" with a practiced paw, he jiggled the automatic window control until the window started to lower. He wanted a closer look at this floating puffer and it seemed to want a closer look at him too.

Nikki sighed, for this town was completely useless. Why did anyone even live here still if this place was in such disrepair? But then, she had lived in Kodo before Team Rocket, this was probably the kind of place she would have lived in. Thus, she couldn't complain too much.
Instead, the girl watched as the other inspected her tires, and rolled her eyes slightly. Yes, it was obvious the tires were screwed, she could have told her that... in fact she kinda did.
"I guess I have no choice." After all, she only needed two tires to get back to HQ. She would simply have to note the lack of spare when she returned. They could replace that instead. It would be their fault for calling such a crappy towing service that only had two available tires.
Nikki continued grumping to herself as she watched Marra hook up the vehicle to the tow truck. What a wonderful day this was turning out to be.
As soon as the window was down, Bobble leaned in closer to peer at the Pikachu. What an odd color it was! "Floooon!" He greeted while offering his "foot" to the electric rodent. He didn't get to meet new Pokemon very often either, and most of his teammates were either hostile or uninterested in him.
