What is your favorite aspect of the guild? The roleplaying style? The fanworks and fests? The free coffee and donuts?

The characters. I love how many interesting and different OCs we have. I love that cliche is welcomed and we don't criticize each other for having our bleeding wrists, emo-tastic, neko boys.

I love all the places we have to post in and how open the possibilities are to have whatever atmosphere you want without really having to fight for it.

I just think the Guild is awesome because every other roleplaying guild I've taken a peek into either has really strict rules, stupid character limitations and boundaries that leave you with a very narrow path you can take as a writer.

Yeah. I remember being in roleplays before this. Trying to join in on forums/guilds or just IM conversations. BAck in the day when you could name your Slotroom/Card Room in Gaia that was where I roleplayed the most heavily. But nothing ever became in depths. It was always the same story, worded a bit different perhaps. Everyone seemed very predictable. Maybe I just tried roleplaying with people below my level; either way, I lost interest quick in such things.

When I first saw the Ask Threads in the HP subforum I knew right away I wanted to make a Voldemort. Everyone was having so much fun, just being silly. I loved how it became a huge community and just kept growing until it was shut down.

I think this Guild maintains the same spirit of those Ask threads. The freedom to just have fun and make whatever character you want. It can be serious, or sexy, it can be whatever you want.

I think about our characters, what we're going to roleplay next, the plot of it all every single day. I can't imagine what my mind would be like without them.

Not to mention I have met my best friends here.

My favorite aspect would have to be how expanded the environment is - we actively write fanfiction, discuss backstories, make banners and icons. If you look at other roleplays, there is scattered backstory discussion, but it’s in tiny blips and doesn’t allow you to really share the character you’ve created, and allow others to enjoy all the little details. I genuinely love knowing your character’s favorite snack or their childhood memories, what songs inspired you when making them, what they felt when my character socked them in the face. I love to read our drabbles and fics, getting so many different perspectives, and looking forward to things written for me or the comments written on things I’ve written. We’re not just a roleplay - we’re the Santa’s Workshop of characters. Batteries ARE included.

@Kitty: Yeah, I really hate the “no epic powers” s**t these days. I was once that way - it’s a control issue, actually; and if you look at thread creators who don’t just list it as a rule but natter on and on, they’re bitchy, controlling women - and it frustrates me to see it now. Obviously we don’t want you blowing up entire cities - but, s**t, if it’s a city none of our characters are in, what the ******** does it matter? Some characters are super powerful - some are normal and boring. Who the eff cares, yo.

I mean, there are obvious lines to draw - auto-killing characters without permission, interfering with plots you weren’t invited in, taking over the Ministry without discussing it first - but most people are smart enough to avoid that… We hope.

@Nny: Yeah, the sillyness enticed me too n_n I wish I hadn’t been so high-strung at the time, maybe I could have enjoyed it more lol.

Yeah, I think it’s kinda neat that the guild allows you to be as casual or as in-depth as you want with your character. You can leave it to Ask Thread level nonsense or dig your claws into the real meat of the guild. That allows me, for example, to have “background characters” - avatars I just have to complete a family for relevant scenes, but wouldn’t want to expand on much through fanfiction or tons of discussion. Some roleplays forbid you to pay less attention to a character over another, or forbid you from having more than one or two.

WE LOVE YOU TOO, NNY.
