Celeste smiled "Oh I see." she chuckled to herself, she didn't buy anything that her was saying. "So that jingling in your pocket wouldn't happen to be gold?" she teased and reached into his pocket. Very unladylike on her part but why not have a little fun? Celeste smiled wickedly, but her expression was soon masked as she looked at the few pieces of gold that she held in her fragile hand. She looked up and Derek and her eyes demanded an explanation. Celeste only thought that the jingling was keys or something else. But never did she actually think that there was gold in his pocket. She dropped the pieces to the floor and with a clank she back away. Celeste then ran to the exit of the Masquerade ballroom. This earned her a few strange looks from the other people at the party. But Celeste didn't care she just ran out the doors and into the dimly lit maze garden.

He then ran after her to prevent her from telling anyone about ever having met him. If that were to happen, who would take care of his family. Derek was the one that gave the orders, and his family followed obediently, if he got caught, they'd be lost. More importantly, he was the leader of a band of thieves, his punishment would only be death. If his family saw his death, they would lose hope. Derek was the best of them and if he were to die, so would their hopes."Wait! Please!" Derek finally caught up to her in the maze garden. She was fast, but Derek had longer legs. He, gently, grabbed her elbow and spun her around. "If you speak a word, I'll die." It wasn't much of a threat, but Derek wouldn't threaten a lady, even for his life. Instead, he went for the sympathetic truth.>>---------------------☁--------------------->

Celeste's elbow was grasped ever so gently and she turned rather abruptly. "Your a thief!" she spat out. Celeste gave him a look of disgust and "Even if you do die who would care? Your just a piece of filth, a rat that runs around steeling other peoples earnings!" she said with venom behind ever word. But as soon as it was out she wished she didn't say it. "I apologize." She told him and directed her head to the ground. Looking back up to his eyes she removed her mask and told him "Our family is falling into debt." She informed him "So if I tell your secret you can tell my family's. The outcome of my family's will us falling in rank and becoming the laughing stock of the aristocrat's. But I have to say yours sounds worse." she half laughed.

I'd rather be a thief feeding my own just what we need than a rich man storing enough food and material items for thousands." Derek removed his mask revealing a face that was exceptionally handsome. Celeste was a beauty in Derek's eyes. Derek being a thief of many, had been pretty good with the ladies, but Celeste.... She seemed different. "I apologize as well, and your secret is well kept with me." There went the proper grammar. It slipped out every once in a while. He'd rather have the habit of talking proper than have the habit of talking improper. Celeste smiled. When she looked upon Derek's face she saw that he was incredibly handsome. This surprised Celeste, she imagined him to just be a stupid, and ugly, thief. But when he removed the mask she was shocked. "Thank You." she said to him and sighed "Why are you here in the first place?" she asked him suddenly "I mean I know your steeling, but, why?"
Celeste started to walk over to the fountain that was at the center of the maze.

He had to scoot a foot or so to sit down because he didn't want to sit on her flowing dress. It was just as beautiful as she and he already stole from her family. "Well, we needed to find some money. Celeste put her hand gently over Derek's folded ones. "I have a dowry. I can take some money from it?" She suggested "I would rather give some of it to you than have a husband spend it on his liqueur, and gambling." she confessed. Celeste pulled her hand away and blushed the lightest shade of pink. She realized how un-lady like all that must seem. In realizing this she blushed a deep pink.

Even if he may seem like one to others, he wouldn't allow to think of himself as a fool. He looked intimately at Celeste, waiting for the catch. The main reason for her generosity. No lady would allow her money to go to a complete stranger, especially one who happens to be a thief, money from her dowry instead of her husband. Derek grew suspicious at her blushing. He convinced himself it was an act. "Husband? Surely a woman at your age must'nt be married yet?" He decided to test her story. Derek was always like this; cautious, suspicious... Celeste looked back at his face "No, but i'm betrothed. To a complete and utter idiot. All he does is gamble, smoke and drink!" she confessed throwing her hands up in the air. "Someone cant be that bad.' I tell myself. But he is!" she sighed. "I would do anything to get out of the engagement." She muttered more to herself than to Derek. With that she folded her gloved hands in her lap and looked down into them.
