Hi! I, um, need something new to read. Yeah, I got a book for Xmas, but it wasn't great... And by "wasn't great" I mean "couldn't even get myself to finish the first chapter". And I usually burn through books like a wildfire. I read a four hundred+ page book in less than a week, so yeah. i need something to read, or I may die.
Does anyone have any books you think I'd enjoy reading? >w< I like to read thrillers, action, sci-fi*, fantasy... And any combinations thereof. Series I read and enjoyed were Maximum Ride (up to Saving The World And Other Extreme Sports.), House of Night (up to Hunted) and Alex Rider (up to Scorpia.). Some individual books I loved were... Well, I don't read individual books that often but I loved The Roar. I forgot who it was by, though. Oh, and The Black Tattoo. :3 Oh, and I absolutely loooved The Giver, but I wouldn't read a lot of stuff similar to it.
* But not all sci-fi. Nothing like Star Wars or anything, and the book I couldn't get through (apparently Sci-Fi as well) was The Hunger Games. So that's a no-go. .__. it's surprising, because I read more of Twilight than I did The Hunger Games, and I hate Twilight.
** Also, no Percy Jackson. I never liked that series. I got it for my birthday last year, read the back of the book, then put it in a box where I wouldn't have to look at it.
*** My philosophy is, "If It's Popular, It Sucks". It hasn't failed me so far. But if you want to recommend popular books, have a go at it... I'll probably find them in the book store, read the back, and put it down then walk away.
**** Fantasy... Don't recommend it even though I like it; my definition of fantasy and yours are probably completely different. gonk

I just finished reading the 'mystique trilogy' by Traci Harding. I don't know if you'd like it or not, but I loved it, and I'm not normally into that kind of book.
It's sort of sci-fi I guess, can't really say much about what it's about without giving stuff away but it involves psychics, reincarnation and time travel. It's fast paced most of the time but gets really involved in the third book and has a couple of information dumps here and there - but if you can deal with those then I highly recommend it, it's exciting and intelligent but also fairly light hearted.

Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony. (Can be read in any order.) Blue Adept series by Piers Anthony.
A Madman's Tale by John Katzenbach. The Blackstone Chronicles by John Saul.
The Belgariad by David & Leigh Eddings.
That's all I've got. Anthony crosses Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Katzenbach and Saul write the most suspenseful stuff. I actually recommend most of Saul's work. Eddings writes fantasy, but I would totally suggest giving it a try.

hhhmmmm well, I think your taste in books seems quite different from mine, but perhaps you would like to try the Thirst series (currently 3 books, with a fourth to come this summer) It's quite action pack, and gets some what confusing around book 3, but I love that series to pieces. And then Beautiful Creatures, which is also a very good series so far, kind of sci-fi/romancy and there is lots of action in there (don't worry, it's not anything like star wars) The first chapter is a little odd in that book though. My friend says it's because the main character is male and both authors a women.
Good luck book hunting~ Lemmie know if you find anything super good, I'm always looking for more good books my self ;D

Ugh! Gosh, all of my best books are fantasy! I'm a heavy fantasy reader!
A Spell for Chameleon - Piers Anthony (Part 1 of the Xanth series that makes me SQUEE 'cause I live in FL xd ) Yeah, it's fantasy but it makes me SQUEE!
Heir Apparent - Vivian Vande Velde
2001: A Space Odyssey Arthur C. Clarke (Yeah, the movie was kinda mind-numbing but THIS BOOK IS FREAKING AWESOME!)
Black Beauty - Umm. . . What's her name. . . Really, you can't go wrong with the classics!
The Tamarack Tree - Betty Underwood
The Martian Chronicles - Ray Bradbury (this one gave me many giggles)
If you haven't got into the series already: Artemis Fowl (Most fans of Alex Rider and Maximum Ride love this too! I know I did!)
And if you don't mind adult subject matter and screwing around with well known fairy tails and Shakespeare, with a hint of Soylent Green. . . . I recommend: Beauty - Sheri S. Tepper
