The travel route between these two countries is a long one, having to navigate the many small islands that surround the Water Country, cross the vast ocean, and make a very roundabout turn to avoid the many lesser villages. In order to save time however, most captains stop and dock in the Tea Country. As a peninsula marked by forests, mountains and fishing villages along its coast, The Tea Country has no official ninja village and is a very peaceful country, although it is well known that they have strong ties to the Fire Country as their only neighboring power.

Hanako Kaguya

Hanako Kaguya had spent a good deal of time in the port waiting for the ship to stock up supplies for the journey and to load the cargo from the caravan she had been riding on along with the body of her fallen friend and Arina, who had been mostly keeping to herself since the things had occurred in Rain that had lead to their current circumstances. It was a bit of an issue that would likely need to be addressed, but not at the current time as the Mist kunoichi of bones had decided to loan out her services in the martial arts and ninjutsu to the fact that having ninja on board would make the captain a little more at ease in the threat of pirates or thieves who tried to take over the vessel and or steal the cargo on board that was scheduled to make a few stops at Tea Country and then to Water Country. It was a valid form of exchange, since Hanako was not exactly loaded on cash and she did not feel like trying to burden Arina with the issue. It was best to leave her to her own devices for the moment and let her friend process the events in her own way.

There was also the issue of the genetic material from Kaito taking hold inside of the White Rose and blessing her with certain aspects she had not had before. Hanako had never been one to experience cravings or the need to eat, but out of a desire to feel good. The appetite was usually a beast controlled and regulated by a strict regiment of caloric monitoring, but that had all changed now. Hanako was simply indulging in drink and food more often than the usual, and to those who knew her, they might find this lack of strict adherence to a set way of doing things to be way out of character. It was simply the fact that her body now had stores of calories to build up and lay in wait to be used for chakra. It was a technique of the Akimichi clan, and now one that had been integrated into her body through the bloodline theft ability she had mastered. The other fact she found impressive about the change in her genetics was that her ability with taijutsu seemed to be enhanced. Her body was faster, and her muscles stronger. Was this purely related to the DNA inside of her body? It was likely the explanation, but from a spiritual standpoint, it was as if Kaito were giving her the strength to make up for his absence among the living.

The ship was finally ready to set sail after a day of loading and preparations in the port at Wind Country and it was finally time to make way into the winds and waves, a brand new adventure. Kaito's body was stored carefully in the cargo hold of the ship, still preserved in the vines, and nourished daily by Hanako's chakra, as their former enemy had suggested in order to keep the effect active until they reached their destination. This long way around was sort of a pain in the a**, but it was in the group's best interest if they were to avoid any more troubles and ill fortunes. The ship made off from the port with a good start and with a good tailwind behind it, pushing it forward on the open ocean toward their first destination, The Land of Tea. Specifically, Dagarashi Port, a port outlet in the Land of Tea, managed by the Wasabi clan. It would be a routine stop, with an exchange of cargo, and then on the way to Water Country, were the payload was due for the trade between Wind and Water's wares, and then the ship would proceed back in it's nearly eternal loop of trade, but the return trip would be made without Hanako and crew.

With the exchange for her and Arina's services as guards on the boat, Hanako had to find ways to entertain herself on the voyage, and the main way of entertainment was by training. The deck of the ship was pretty spacious, and perfect for her to do her basic routine about. The first part of the routine was chakra focus meditations. The air of the sea was crisp and brisk on this particular day as she sat on the bow of the ship and closed her eyes as the thoughts of the world around her seemed to melt away, and she held a hand up, focusing on the air and the water molecules inside of it's apparatus. It was dense with moisture, which was perfect for anyone, who had the affinity with water jutsu, to focus on training and gathering denser particles to create water element jutsu with. The exercise would be mandetory if she were to become stronger with the element for which her country was famous. Very few could actually call themselves true Mist ninja without some basic proficiency in the jutsu element of water style techniques, and Hanako was determined not to be a disappointment to the legacy before her. Breathing in and breathing out, she continued to gather the moisture into the palms of her hand, letting it coalesce and dance about before she released it, and then began again from the beginning, working in repetition. Like any proper method of training, be it spiritual or physical, one needed to repeat the process over and over again in order to bring about perfection to the technique being utilized. It was also a valid way of passing the time, as the journey was sure to take a week or so at best, and the best rarely ever presented itself. The current circumstance that the young Kaguya female found herself in was one example of just how much things worked out in her favor, or rather than, how often they did not. The training and making use of the time given to her was the only way of redeeming, what would otherwise be seen as a total waste of time in an inefficient travel route.

Hanako Kaguya

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. It had been a while at sea, and Hanako Kaguya, the White Rose of the Kaguya Clan, had been hard at work with her training and adapting to the Akimichi DNA flowing through her body. There was little need for her to worry about any threats as the weather had been less than acclimating for clear skies the past few weeks. It had been anything but clear, as it had remained a vast and stormy mess. It was as if the ire of the sea gods had been awoken as the boat made it's trip with a fallen of the Water Country. Kaito's body was like a cursed omen to some of the sailors, but they knew better than to voice their opinion openly as it had landed one of them with a broken nose, and a stern word from the captain who was more than grateful to have ninja on his boat as free protection. Anyone bad-mouthing the free muscle on the merchant captain's ship was quickly corrected, much to Hanako's relief as it made the journey that much more tolerable to endure. It was hard enough having to deal with the loss of a dear friend, but transporting his body through treacherous seas and at the cost of her providing free services in protection for the ship in passage was a burden all in it's own, on top of regular training.

It was on this day in particular that Hanako had put herself to work on training her bones, and working on perfecting the Bloom Armor technique. She had to make it stronger, and push it's power to a new limit so she would never feel pain. Her bones needed to be stronger and her willpower tougher. Resisting influences from the outside while pummeling it with the full force of her lethal taijutsu was the end game with her particular style of combat. As the ship rocked back and forth on the waves, the bone shaping kunoichi stood on the deck, summoning the bones through her skin and trying to remain steady while doing so. This environment was providing the perfect spot for adapting to adverse climates, which was a factor she might have to face in actual combat. "Breathe in and out, let the calcium infuse with chakra.", she muttered to herself as she pushed her technique. Two horns, like that of a demon began sprouting from her forehead, and bloom-like sprouts of bones jutted from her collar bone. It was becoming more apparent and visible, as she worked with the technique, that the bones were becoming more pronounced and the armor was becoming more refined. It was a constant work and effort, but with each attempt there was improvement. The idea was to keep perfecting the Saku Yoroi no Jutsu until she could evolve it into a stronger and more potent form of defense. The fact that it was one of her signature jutsu meant that she felt it would need to be the best it could be in it's particular class of techniques.

As the time passed by, and the storm raged about Hanako while she trained and practiced on the shifting and swaying deck of the ship, she felt herself getting hungry. So she made her way to the galley, as if on instinct and raw intuition. The call for food was one she could hardly ignore anymore. The feeling of hunger was a more frequent feeling with her since she had absorbed Kaito's genetic material and made it apart of her own. "Damn, he loved to eat for a reason...arg.", she groaned as she feasted on some bread and potatoes, full of calories and carbohydrates for energy. It was a good break for her in the galley at this point. Training and eating were her main forms of activity next to sleeping anymore. Arina had likely been taking care of the body they were transporting and Hanako had decidedly left her to her own as she had lost not only her friend, but apparently a family member to Sai's attack. She pitied the girl, but knew eventually she would either have to get back up on her feet and press on like Hanako, herself, had...or wallow in her misery and let it drag her down like a rock to her ankle into the bottom of the sea of depression.

With her meal out of the way, Hanako went back out onto the deck, but not to train this time. She was there to watch the ship as it progressed on it's destination to the Land of Tea, were they would make port and exchange wares for the first part of the trip before continuing on to Water Country were she would eventually return home. Her heart longed for the Village Hidden in the Mist, and for her family. The ache she felt with the loss of Kaito and the fact that they would have to adapt to her new addition of techniques had her worried. She was not up for the conversation and explaining the reason why she had suddenly began to fill out in her womanly assets instead of maintaining her lean, athletic figure.

If anything, Hanako was only looking more and more like the attractive woman that many would find desirable, but at least with the exercise and constant training, she was not getting chunky and fat in the wrong areas. There was a pride and dignity that had to be maintained, especially with the fact that she was still on the path to becoming the strongest Kunoichi of the Mist Village and there was no room for a lax looking body. If people were to look up to her, then she would have to have the appearance of nobility and the attributes of charisma, even if she could be a stone-cold b***h. The idea was to inspire girls of the village to look and act like her. To become strong kunoichi and to bolster the ranks of the killer breed of female ninja in the realm normally dominated by men.
