This is a poem I wrote my sophomore year according to the theme of the book Pride and Prejudice. I took it to a poetry slam since I was recording the performance of two of my friends, and it ended up winning first place... sweatdrop Lol Your thoughts and comments?
As I studied the small glass orb That held my consciousness I found the highest layer. I tugged the tightest strings And strengthened my existence That had been running thin. My fragile pride which rose above Had somehow slipped between All the layers now surpassed And shattered on the cobblestones At the bottom of my mind.

This piece, although short but sweet has left me with a sense of wonderment right down to the very last line. This is actually quite a remarkable glimpse into the human mind as if to say we build up enough courage, fairing well only to succumb to a forthright downfall in an untimely demise according to our outlook of uncertainty and pessimism. This piece deserved first place, great job. :]
