>Subject: Re: CHILDREN OF THE GIANT
>
CHAPTER 1

Staring out into the star filled blackness of space Koraito allows his tears to run down his cheeks. No one was awake now to see the pain which filled his heart. He had put his young children into their bunks all rocked to sleep in his enormous arms. His club like fingers fumbled to close the shield over the viewing portal. He lumbered over to the oversized chair customized for someone with his large frame. Sitting, he picked up the latest dispatch from the communication device installed on his star ship to keep him in contact with the home he will never return to, Earth.

Koraito with wet cheeks sniffed, nose now congested. He rarely let his emotions show, but he missed her, his love, how hard it will be to live without Gaianako, the only woman who changed his enormous hardened divisive heart into that of a father and a loving husband. He started reading the oversized print.

>Dear Dr. Miyaki, Greetings from The World Peace Organization. A monument will be placed in museum of science in honor of your achievements for our planet. Your service to Earth will not be forgotten. The following excerpt will be placed on the plaque. If you could please read and advise if this meets to your satisfaction. The WPO has attempted to be as factual as possible.
>
>2012- Unknown. This Monument Is In Honor of Koraita. Born Ryo Miyaki, nick named Koriato for his large stature, he Created of the First Harmonic Ossilator which is located in Central Asia. Koraito was the first genetically manipulated human created by the combined work of the scientists Dr. Sarinu and Dr. Haria. After War Of Wars the Earth was at the paramount of Famine, Pestilance and Polution. Without hope of a solution and heading to mass destruction, these scientists insight unlocked the human potential. Koriato, created to think in ways that were multidimensional was not limited by the finite thinking and he saved the planet at the brink of destruction. Koriato creation of The Harmonic Ossilator replenished the atmosphere and the soil while purifing the poluting contaminates. Koriato left the Earth in 2030,in a specially designed space lab, to work on a cure for his own condition of Giantism. Diagnosed with giagantism at the age of 16, Koriato was able to see the success' of his device.
>
>> Well, thought Koriato, this was more flattering then he would have expected. He read on:
>>
>> Koriato left behind his wife Gianako.
>>
>> Just the mention of her name made his heart pound. At the time he met her she was 9 years old, she could have passed for a boy, no chest then, she walked around the boys barracks with her shirt off and no one cared, chuckling to himself, wow did she ever develop.
>>
>> Upon returning to Earth these children heroes were then recruited in a campaign to stop the eminent world war. They were instrumental in having each country submit to a newly formed one world government. The result of their success was that most nations gave over their independence to this new government with the rest anticipated to join. Bean and Petra spear headed the government’s effort to unite the citizens. The effectiveness of Bean's military genius served the Hedgeman both to frighten and encourage many countries to volunteer their independence and become part of the Free People Of Earth rather than getting defeated by an army under Bean’s command. Bean and Petra's bonds continued to grow. They fell in love and married.
>>
>> That was a nice touch, probably Peter’s idea, he always like to keep his heroes human. Peter, “dictator of the world” formerly “The Hedgeman”, his first title, now the unelected President of the Free People of Earth. Bean could see his hand in this biography. Bean thought, “Don’t complain you helped him get there, remember better than the alternative, death and perpetual war.”
>>
>> Bean and Petra had children and some shared their father’s disease of growth deformity now diagnosed as Anton’s Key. In his 20's and a giant, Beans heart could not handle Earth's gravity. If he were to stay on Earth he would die of heart failure within a few years. With all wars ended Bean wrote a heartbreaking letter good-bye and left Petra with his remaining children who did not have Anton's Key. Bean took with him his children that if left on Earth would suffer his same heart condition.
>>
>> Bean paused; his tears starting to flow again, he should never have given that letter to Peter to give to Petra, how much pain did he cause her. His mind then wandered back to his most pressing burden that the children with him would suffer as giants encumbered with a failing heart. With a sigh and sniff, he finished the last sentence.
>>
>> For his service to the Earth he was provided an ultra fast space craft with the capacity to hold him and his children: Ender, Carlotta, and Ramon.
>>
>> Finishing the biography, Bean, felt empty, his whole life summarized in such a small amount of space. Bean knew Peter wanted all the Battle School graduates off the planet. They were all given a biography for his new history. Peter had convinced his Minister of Colonization, formerly Colonial Graff, to send these capable war heroes on Colonization ships to govern and to develop the planets formerly controlled by the defeated alien invaders, the Buggers, with the long term goal of establishing interplanetary commerce. There ships, unlike Beans, all held about 100,000 colonists who had savored the idea of being led by a hero of Earth.

>>CHAPTER 2
>>
>>
>> Bean woke up, his feet were hanging over the bed; his neck was jammed against the bulkhead. “Another day, another inch grown,” he sighs. He knew he was not actually growing an inch a day, but night after night with restless sleeping and banging his body into various parts of the ship, it sure made him think he was growing that fast. “Well,” he wondered, “what time is it? I'm sure Ender, Carlotta, and Ramon are up by now. They don't seem to need as much sleep as I do. Even though space travel and near null gravity has helped me remove all that unnecessary muscle I put on while in Earth's gravity, I still feel enormous.”
>>
>> Bean sat up and stretched, “To think, I was once so small I was told, I could walk between someone’s legs without touching their... well anyways.”
>>
>> Scratching his tightly curled black hair, “What shall I teach my children today? These little geniuses of mine have finished every book in the library and have been spending a bit too much time on the nets. I would have been just as precocious at their age if I had such resources as they do. Instead my toddler years in Rotterdam were spent trying to find food and avoiding the child predators and bullies. It wasn't until Sister Carlotta found and rescued me that I even saw a book. Years wasted for me but not for my children.”
>>
>> Bean swung his long legs onto the deck and stood up. Looking up to the ceiling he visually measured the distance from his head, no noticeable change from the day prior. This had become a pattern for him, a ritual and he had to admit an obsession with his growth. Looking around the stateroom, “how long till I fill up this whole ship or accidentally step on my little ones?”
>>
>> Reaching for his cloths, “I must continue my own study of how to cure this disorder. I can't depend on those scientists back on Earth. With the remaining time I have left, I must learn to understand the genetic manipulation that created this mutation.” Just then the idea came to Bean, “I can have the children start learning the essentials of chemical communication between cells and possibility of introducing a suppressor protein.”
>>
>> Carlotta’s singing could be heard in the forward compartment, “Funny little girl she has such a fondness for microbes, I will assigned her this task. One thing for sure this ship will not hold 4 giants. Ender, he is fascinated with space travel I will assign him to study galactic mapping and look for a low gravity planet for us, if I'm alive.”
>>
>> Bean thought back to his son namesake description of one of the games that was at Battle school. Bean had never played it because he realized it was a tool to study the mind of the students there. He described to Bean that towards the end of the game it took him to the skeletal remains of a giant whose bones formed houses for the villages and stables for horses. At that Bean wondered, “Will that be my future? Well, if it is at least my death would serve a purpose”. Now finished dressing, Bean focused on the last child, “Ramon can work on the long term problem of feeding 4 giants. Though he, his brother, and sister have 14 years before their size will classify them as a giant, it needs to be worked on. Time does go fast.” Bean headed down the hall to the forward compartment of the ship, “Well, time to assign task but most importantly time to get food in this cavern I call a stomach.” His voice resonated through the ship.
>>
>> Bean found his 3 toddlers exactly where he had expected them. Carlotta, singing to herself, over in the kitchen area was looking through a microscope, standing on a chair to reach the counter, her hair in curly cues around her soft slender cheeks glancing up to watch bacteria dancing on the vides. Ramon, laying on his belly, on the ground, his big brown eyes focused on the object in his hand. He had spread out a group of holographic building blocks. From the look of it, had designed a 3 dimensional replica of the ship and appeared to be applying various modification, uh oh looks like he wants to change our living environment, Bean smiled.
>>
>> Ender was not his sight, he glanced up to the ships navigation and yes, his oh so small body barely able to reach the control console, there he was peering out into the blackness of space. Bean called the children together and helped them up to the dining chairs. “They are no bigger than my hand,” he grimaced, “if I'm not careful, I could lay my hand down one day and when I lift it back up, find I have squashed one of them. I must remember to be alert to how and where I use and place this behemoth of a body.”
>>
>> Bean explained to the children their learning assignments. “Carlotta, you will study communication between cells, bacteria, and viruses. Specifically, your project will be to create a virus or protein model that can be introduced into the body of a living creature and transform it or at least inhibit certain cellular activity such as independent growth. Ender, you are assigned to access fleet data about what they discovered when they sent their Armada to the different Bugger worlds, access data on gravity and environmental factors noted from satellites and probes that had been sent about the surrounding non colonized worlds. Your specific assignment is to set up an ecologic environmental model that could support our family with the resources necessary to continue to grow and thrive.”
>>
>> Ramon’s eyes were wide with excitement waited for his assignment. “Ramon you will be the projects coordinator. You will combine the information attained from your brother and sister and assist in their collection of data. But, I want you to focus on reviewing recovered Bugger manufacturing and industry technology that the battle groups have collected and recorded, include in your search food sources and any industry that could provide future energy and nourishments possibilities. Your specific project will be designing a remote control space craft capable of housing a robotic unit able to collect samples from inhabitable planets.”
>>
>> Hard to believe, shaking his head, these assignments would be a life’s work for many groups of scientists, and I am assigning this to three, 2 year old children. No not 2 year olds, as my sweet ones are apt to remind me, almost 3 year olds. He could visualize their small fingers point at him in correction.
>>
>> Bean reached over to a larger version ansible, a lot larger then on most ships, and turned it on. The ansible, he remembered his conversation with Colonial Graff, a communication device that uses philotic waves to instantaneous cross galactic space, with images and data streams that allow access to data from across many different sources. A technology deduced from the way the Buggers communicate except they could do it without machines. He stopped, and looked at the device; it won’t be that much longer when I won’t be able to manage these switches with my paws. And yet, still be quite a long time before the children hands will be large enough to do it for me. Shaking his head, “I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it”.
>>
>> On the ansible he placed his request: the latest star charts especially from those of the buggers worlds, plant genetics and agricultural crop manipulation, and finally cellular biopsychology, most importantly the entire classified work of Anton and confiscated work of Velescue. With this underway, he needlessly verified that children had already eaten, and they had. Before he could get started in his study, he really did need to grab a bite. Well, he knew, a lot more than a bite...
>>
>>
>>CHAPTER 3
>>
>>
>> The days in space were spent very quickly, if you can actually say a day with no specific sun or moon to determine day or night. The only thing determining day or night was the automatic ship lighting system which was meant to correspond to Earth. “I wonder”, Bean thought, “we have been voyaging for over a year we will be arriving at one of the Buggers worlds soon it would be a good time to take the children out to experience real running around. If the gravity is too high on the planet I could just send them down with the shuttle. This would make history come alive for them as well as their studies. They are absorbing material at a faster pace than I imagined, and better yet they can not only recall it, they can use and combine data with such creativity. Anyways, I could do with an adventure if not in body then in mind.”
>>
>> Slowing down from the near relativistic light speed took or seemed to take an extreme long time to the children. This would be the first time in over a year they would be on actual ground, since they left Earth. Excited about having the opportunity to collect real samples, the objectives laid out by Bean were to verify data obtained over 80 Earth years ago and collect samples... However, the children were equally interested in feeling the wind and sun on their face. Unfortunately the gravity on the Bugger world was not entirely different from Earth fixing it so that Bean could not go with them. The children had completed ample simulator and real life practices with the shuttle. Ramon had modified the controls to make them reachable, transferring them to a portable computer so control of the ship was possible from his chair. The planet surface was warmed by 2 suns, and had a wide variety of unusual insects and strange animals similar to those on Earth but different also. Ender had located an abandon Bugger village that had a combination of catacomb caverns and above ground machine shops. There were 8 medium sized space craft that were found in one hanger but where the work had stopped in various stages.
>>
>> “Well,” breathed Bean, “the children made it to the planet surface, “I can’t help but be a doting father, always worried though I know their intelligence and body development far surpasses what I had at their age. I was so malnourished that people thought I was a baby, but back then that too had been to my advantage. I could use my very small size to get food handouts over the other street urchins. I had been living on the street with thieves, prostitutes, gangs for 2 years and survived with no training and with eating only scraps every 2 or 3 days, my children however, though born premature, are well fed, well educated, and physically trained, so why worry, yet here I am still worrying about their first trip outside”.
>>
>> Bean stood up his joints hurting. “I've lost so much, so many people, and I’m so worried I won’t survive to see them established when they have to face this gigantism problem. I love them as no one can understand, even more than I loved their mother, Petra. All those years on the street I never believed I could love anyone, having no one love me. Rotterdam is not a place for a child to learn of things that would be useless in a battle of survival. Use, get used, no attachment that was the rule. I still am so amazed that I held the love of a woman, and such a brilliant and beautiful one as Petra, I miss her and my other children. She has the 5 normal children that I will never see; I miss and love them too. Look at me, tears running down my cheeks again; if I don’t stop the kids will have to swim up to this deck. Well, clear these blurry eyes, and get back to the monitor”.
>>
>> Bean wiping his cheek, reached down to the monitor and before speaking cleared the sadness from his voice. Trying not to think about how nice it would be if he could hug someone back, his children could hug on him and kiss him but he knew he was way too massive hug them or kiss them back. Ender, Carlotta, and Ramon he hoped they knew he wanted to hug them back.
>>
>> The view from images sent by the children showed a fair amount of over growth of vegetation during the 80 years that passed while Bean was on his more than a year long near relativistic travel it had taken to get to this planet. Time is space was different then time on Earth. He noted that the Buggers must have had to deal with predatory creatures as many sharp spiked pole looking fences surrounded most of the installations that his children found. Ramon, finding a break in one of the fences noted a type of fruit on a tree in the distance. He found some hand holds and climbed the tree to recover the fruits. Bright red yellow blooms in various degrees of development were collected as well as samples of bark, leaves, and fruit. Ramon started to climb down. While heading back to the installation a bore like creature came from behind Ramon in a heave spearing him in the back and knocking him down. He screamed out but his sibling could not hear him. He felt blood draining down his back and saw it soaking onto the ground.
>>
>> Only Bean could hear the cry’s of his child, feeling helpless in space he frantically depresses and re-depresses the switch to contact Ender or Carlotta both respond to the frantic cry’s of their father and ran down to find their brother unconscious on the wrong side of the fence. Ender instinctively pulled out the stunner his father had forced him to bring with him and stunned the over grown pig. Carlotta angrily reached her brother staring at the porcine creature with her brother’s blood dripping from its snout.
>>
>> In the distance, rushing of bushes could be heard. She remembered that certain creature lives in herd and if she doesn’t move quickly these will come to devour her brother. Ender aided her to drag Ramon’s body, just as multiple beasts started appearing from the brush. They had to get Ramon to the other side of the installation fence. Obviously sniffing the blood on the ground the porcine monsters went into frenzy and started charging after them. Ramon’s unconscious body made it to the other side of the fence with no moments to spare. The group began charging the fence. The pig monsters were too large to get through the breach. With each charge into the spikes, their blood splatters into the installation and on the 3 children which then increased the packs frenzy. Finally reaching the shuttle they set the course back to space.
>>
>> When the shuttle pulled into dock Bean stomped in scooping Ramon into one hand and rushed him to the infirmary. Equipped with erythropoietin, a blood enhancing agent, he adeptly began the process of resuscitation. Ramon’s heart rate was barely registering on the cardiac monitor. His respirations were shallow, he was barely breathing. He had learned field medicine and the process of resuscitation was difficult because with the wrong amount of pressure he could have easily crushed Ramon. He added oxygen to his dying child. Carlotta worked to stop the bleeding gash in Ramón’s back while Ender began an intravenous line and started central warming.
>>
>> An hour later, Ramon heart rate had stabilized, though still unconscious, he was breathing on his own. Ender and Carlotta, sitting on the ground exhausted kept a watchful eye on their brother. Carlotta was the first to get up and began to collect the boar’s blood and tissue samples from off Ramon when she had finished, she also removed the samples from off herself and Ender. Bean followed her movements as she worked methodically placing the samples in tissue growth containers and tissue culture dishes then in the incubator. Bean regretted he had allowed the trip and was concerned about Carlotta’s quick change in behavior. Bean slowly approached her.
>>
>> He rubbed her back with his finger trying to understand what she was thinking and console her. Smiling up to her father, she reassured him that she was ok and that she had come to realize that those beast that attacked her brother, were mindless and couldn’t be held responsible for their behavior. She explained distractedly, that the samples for her experiments could only be salvaged for a short time.
>>
>> Within a week, Ramon was up and working on his experiments he was recovering remarkable well thought Bean. He requested his father to have Carlotta and Ender to return to the planet and disassemble the 8 craft and bring them up to the ship. Bean reluctantly agreed. When the alien craft were on board, he returned the ship to relativistic light speed. Bean decided it would be a while before he would allow anymore explorations, the children understood, but felt they had enough samples and data to keep them busy for quite a while.
>>
>>
>>CHAPTER 4
>>
>>
>> Upon departing the planet Bean hoped no colony ship would land on this planet. Bean knew immediately that this would be one of the first planets that the first colonies would come across. The colony one the battle school graduates. Well, thought Bean, these new worlds will have many new beasts that will need to be dealt with. I wonder how many colonists will be lost because of these monsters. What am I saying; I wasn’t thinking, feeling too sorry for myself. At any other time I would have been aware of the danger immediately and taken precautions to ensure his my children would have been protected from this menace. I have always been able to handle any challenge. I will be prepared better, next time. Bean sent his findings by ansible to Peter.
>>
>> Relativistic travel continued on the ship for the next 2 years without incident. Ramon was back to normal building, researching, and experimenting. Each child had seemed to have forgotten what had happen with the encounter with the porcine on the planet, Bean thought, but he could still sense a small change in their behavior. The most notable was with Carlotta, she seemed to feel that it was unfair that all creatures didn't share an understanding of how their behavior can affect others. She would wonder what would those creatures do if they understood they could have killed a thinking being wasn't there a way to allow intelligent communication between all creatures. Following up on this thought process, directed her research. At 6 she had created colonies of bacteria that could communicate and function in a type of communities. She hadn't yet understood how to suppress unwanted behaviors or to allow for a transformation of the bacteria when the environments were too hostile but she felt this she was on the brink of a breakthrough.
>>
>> Ender had already completed his mock automatic space ship. A type of remote control craft that would be able leave and return to the landing bay without placing anyone in danger. Bean was relieved. The mock ship was too small to be use full but it was functional, Carlotta and Ramon continued to urge their father to take the ship out of relativistic light speed to test a larger version almost complete. The next Bugger world would be the perfect test site, they urged. Bean, however, refused. Stating though their work was going very well the time it took to slow and regain speed afterwards should be delayed until they had a plan of experiments that would be performed. He also expected them to be ready should unseen danger show itself so that they should have contingency plans ready should their experiments be interrupted. The years passed as the children continued to grow and learn.
>>
>> "Happy 9th birthday" Bean hobbled up to his 3 children carrying a synthetic cake. He had read birthdays were very important to children. And even though it would be unlikely his children would ever have an opportunity to interact directly with other children he wanted to continue this tradition.
>>
>> Ender, Ramon and Carlotta would never admit they liked this birthday ceremony, firstly they'd argue because their birthdays were all different, though they knew they were all born on the same timeframe. Velescue had managed to get Beans and Petra’s embryos that they had frozen and he had them implanted them in surrogates before his arrest. The 2 surrogates who carried Carlotta and Ramon delivered at a different time then Beans wife Petra, most likely because while though Petra took care of herself, she was a military commander and ran an entire country's army at the brink of a world war. She continued up until the last days before delivery. The surrogate’s lives were essential uneventful, making Ender perhaps 3 months older than his siblings. But, Bean thought, perhaps they were missing their other 5 siblings and wondered with all of this relativistic travel which led to hundreds of years pass on Earth, would any of the great nieces or nephew still is alive.
>>
>> It had only been 8 years on this voyage but for the people on Earth not affected by relativistic time differences created by traveling at near light speed, 500 years had passed. No one with his blood line was probably even alive. Bean shook his head and gave the children his most loving smile. "9 years old I have never seen such a bunch a little rascals like you...now blow out the candles and make a wish, or I sing to you... “The voice of Bean the giant singing would be a little hard on the ear, the 3 children obeyed smiling but in their eyes there was sadness. They could see how gigantism was crippling their father. His joints couldn't take the strain even in the low gravity of space. He was proportionate in size so not grotesque, and though he had lived past the death prediction of 20, now being 28, it was hard to see that his endless growing had made it hard for him to do much on the ship. They all realized they must find a planet suitable for their father before he runs out of room on this ship. As it was the children had already had to help modify many aspects of the ship just to accommodate his living arrangement. He didn't even have a bed any more. The hanger bay had been converted to his sleeping chambers. “Poor dad and one day poor us when we go through the same problem, but with no children to help us!” Bean heartbreakingly overheard Ramon say.
>>
>> The children continued in their work. "Dad, Dad!" Carlotta had never been this excited. Her experiment had taken a turn that had even surpassed her expectations. She found that bacteria could be programmed like a computer and taught to work in the sub cellular environment to effect minute changes which have a much larger rippling effect that is communicated to other cells causing metamorphosis. The effects she in a rush explained have such far reaching effects. This effect could be transferred to viruses which can handle harsh environments and could be used to terra-farm marginally inhabitable planets to provide the resources to create an environment that could support 4 giants.
>>
>> Carlotta went on to show how she could use the genetic material she found on the 1st planet to transform a new world... she begged her father for an opportunity to attempt her experiment.... Ender had already located an uninhabited planet that his remote control space craft could populate and Ramon had created the essential ecologic environment. Soon the other children were at his side with matched anticipation.... he finally gave in to their desire to take the ship out of near light speed... he had wished his research had taken on as much success as theirs... but his pain levels were beginning to interfere with his ability to think. He did not let the children know he was noticing that his increased brain size allowed him to tap into power such as telekinesis... not much but still taking up as much of his interest as genetic restructuring of creatures into a different creature... though he planned to add this aspect of his research into the children application of their work...
>>
>> Bean and the children equipped the remote and sent to the first planet... they were beyond all the known Bugger worlds.... the probe was designed to send holographic pictures back with it...
>>
>>
>>CHAPTER 5
>>
>>
>> Ramon spoke excitedly out...”Dad I have included as part of the ecological experiment to limit the number of species to a dozen or so with Carlotta's virus we can convert them into types hospitable to us. Ender then added the planet I have chosen for the experiment represents the most hospitable one I can find. It only has primitive life signs appreciated so that it should represent the perfect test site.”
>>
>> Beam beaming down at his oh now so small children...now preteens his booming voice GO AHEAD, YOU HAVE DONE VERY WELL. I HAVE STUDIED CARLOTTA’S VIRUS AND ADDED THE ABILITY TO CONVERT EXISTING CELLS OF ANY OTHER LIVING SOURCE INTO THE FORMS DESIGNED BY YOU THREE. THE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE CARRIED RAPIDLY TO WHATEVER IT CONTACTS. WE WILL REMAIN IN ORBIT FOR 1 MONTH THEN I WILL SEND YOU DOWN IN PROTECTIVE SUITS TO GET SAMPLES BEFORE I RE-ENGAGE LIGHT SPEED. GRAVITY ISSUES NEED TO BE STUDIED. THIS IS THE ONLY REMAINING ELEMENT IF ALL GOES WELL. REPRODUCTION MUST ALSO BE CONSIDERED. I WAS THE RESULT OF A TYPE OF CLONING EXPERIMENT WE WILL CONSIDER THIS NEXT IF YOUR EXPERIMENTS PROVE SUCCESSFUL.
>>
>> Bean turned his head to the control panel and activated it with his mind. The children now knew that he had gained this ability. Their small hands still had limitation and his gigantic hands were of no use. The small craft hit the atmosphere in an amazing reentry blaze but in a low populated area it landed with ease. The virus was dispersed in hours remodeling the planet species and modify genes as was designed the combination project of Beans and Carlotta's.
>>
>> The month passed quickly... the children watching halos of amazing changes taking place on the planet surface. Species not able to adapt simply disappeared others the virus paired into a single life cycle. Ramon piped up “that is my doing. It will allow better control of the planets geological changes...” Bean assembles the children and with weapons in hand he allowed them to take the shuttle down and collect Enders small remote vehicle and collect samples. The remote had been taking samples during the entire month, but the children convinced their father, they were better suited to choose the samples that showed the most promise and to determine the next course of action based on first hand observation... Bean smiled and sent them off. To his relief within 3 hours the children returned jubilant. He placed the items in quarantine and sprayed the children with the antivirus that they had prepared for just this opportunity. Bean returned the craft back to light speed and went to lie down, fatigued and aching he tried to mask his surety that his end was near. What did Valascue say, that madman who created me, place my brain in a jar and be an entity of pure thought...perhaps such a ghastly future will lie before me if only to see my children find a cure for this condition...Petra would be proud...I told her for the children sake I wouldn't give up...must sleep.
>>
>> Every so often Bean would have the children take the ship out of light speed and try modification of the virus on different planets...but he was having a difficult time getting around now...mostly bound to a modified hover craft he rarely placed his full weight on his failing legs...They still hadn't found the ideal planet to live, clone, survive...I don't know how long I can continue to hold out he thought to himself...he turned to see the children...preteens looking at him...his mental abilities had showed itself again...he had broadcasted his thoughts to his children without even meaning to.... smiling to looked down at them...no need to talk with my mouth now...you all can hear my thoughts....I believe there is a plane of existence beyond the body...I've sensed it many times...I have been reading the Bible your name sake, Sister Carlotta, had left behind... I believe heaven is a real place...and I know I must go very soon...I will not allow myself to become a living brain...you have all the research I have done on modifying your body's to reverse the change done by Valascue but I am too large for the transformation...take my research use it settle a planet...continue your work...we will never be apart...
>>
>> Remember….I am in you as you and all your brothers and sisters we left on Earth are with me...your beloved mother, Petra, my heart my focus...I will be joining them...be glad for me...care for each other...I must sleep...I love you all...Bean returned to the hanger bay and while removing himself from the hover craft...collapsed...holding his chest...the pressure unbearable...unable to breath...he reached out with his mind and sealed the bay doors...before losing consciousness he focused on the panel to open the outside door...God accept this your son into your loving arms, Christ who died for all the sinners...forgive this sinner...present me to the Father as an adopted heir to the kingdom...AMEN...
>>
>> Ramon, Ender, and Carlotta watched as their father floated out into space...looking back and forth to each other they had never experienced loss....they didn't know how to respond.
>>
>> Ramon was the first to speak up..."Well I have noticed a variance in the response between the viral vectors....some fail to penetrate the bi-lipid membrane of some plants which seems impossible...so I have calculated a way that the viral vector and incorporate substrate proteins thereby coating them self’s to allow them to enter and remodel the cellular matrix the way we designed..."
>>
>> Ender looked out into space..."Yes, the various planet ecosystems can pose problems to the planetary conversion if they can resist our modifications of the genetic matrix...I have noted a singular pattern of increasing complexity of structures....we, I believe are moving toward a more advancing vegetative process as we proceed...most likely in a direction opposite of Earth planetary spin....and orbital placement...proceeding in a continued plotted projection we should the next suitable test site..."
>>
>> Looking at the 2 dismayed...Carlotta exclaimed, "Solving the problem of our own genetic manipulation must take precedence over terra-farming...we need more specimens...I propose that if we cannot find sufficient life species when embark on a cloning process to create workable model for the required genetic modifications."
>>
>> All three were quiet but nodding consent...they decided to focus on finding more complex living specimens....but agreed to begin a cloning process simultaneously since this would be the next process anyways...
>>
