Jan. 2nd, 2011Since he'd failed to occupy his time with fixing his watch, Rai had grown bored. He was home alone in Lawrence's house, an unfamiliar territory, with absolutely nothing to do. Succumbing to this bordness, he had taken to laying apathetically on the couch, watching TV. The hours seemed to tick by slowly, it was getting intolerable.
"What is that guy going to come home?" he whined, flopping around on the couch until he was upside-down on it, "Oh my god I can't believe he expects me to stay here all day."
For a moment, he thought about going outside, but then he remembered the snow and how much he wanted to stay out of it. At least, for now anyway; all he had to wear were pajamas, and he's not sure what Captain Genius did with his shoes, so for now it was a bad idea.
So... what now?
Rai let himself roll off the couch and on to the floor, where he slugged around until deciding to stand to his feet. "He's gotta have something for me to do around here."
There was nothing to do downstairs, as he could tell, so he decided to head upstairs instead and into Lawrence's room. If anything, maybe Rai could find something embarrassing of his to hold over him. Haphazardly he began digging through drawers, not sure exactly what he was looking for but certain he would know what it was when he found it.
"Hm, what's this?" from the back of the drawer he was digging in, Rai tugged out a colorful pair of boxers.
"Pffffhahaha!" as if he couldn't have been more amused by it, he tore out every other piece of clothing that wasn't like the fruity boxers until he found the whole set. Nevermind the mess he made, this was in the persuit of... something that wildly amused him.
He didn't need a reason.
"These are the stupidest things I have ever seen." he said through a giggle, looking over the collection.
Come to think of it, when was the last time he'd changed his underwear? That was a disgusting realization, but he doubted that when Lawrence changed him into his new get-up he'd taken the time to change his underwear too. That would have been just silly. He frowned.
"No, you know what, I haven't showered lately either..." there was a long pause before he made a loud, pseudo-barfing noise.
Rai wasn't the kind of guy to get dirty easily, but that was still gross to him. It also presented a new adventure for himself: find the bathroom and take a bath.
"But I still don't know what Clark did with my clothes..." he hummed to himself, looking over the scattered mess of Lawrence's clothing he'd just thrown about, "Yeah, he won't care."
- - -
By some work of God, he'd managed to get off of work early tonight. It must have been the slow day, but he wasn't going to question it in case he jinxed himself. Lawrence looked forward to coming home and relaxing, like he did every night, and the added company of Rai was even a nice thought. Yeah, he's a loud and obnoxious kid, but he's got a cute side to him. Over time, he'd probably end up growing to be pleasant to be around, that would be something to look forward to.
"Well, that's assuming he sticks around..." Lawrence mused to himself on his way home, "He'll probably leave once the snow melts. I guess I don't blame him, if he does, that'd be what I'd do anyway."
He frowned thinking about that, they hadn't known each other very long- or really gotten to know each other very well- but there was still a connection there that made Lawrence not only upset at the idea of Rai leaving, but feel like a creeper. He shook the thought off.
"I wonder what he's done all day."
When he'd finally reached his home and walked in the door, the first thing he did was roll his eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. A trail of clothing and water puddles lead from the stairs to the kitchen, for some reason, and then through the living room to the bathroom door. It really didn't take a lot of brain power for him to guess what happened, though he still didn't know what to say about the water puddles throughout his house.
Being careful not to slip or trip over his clothes, he went to the bathroom and knocked, hearing Rai's voice on the other side,
"Occupied!"
"I kind of guessed." the enthusiasm in his voice was unsurprisingly absent, "What's with the mess?"
"Oh, that! Well, I couldn't decide what I wanted to wear, so I had to make a few trips. Then I forgot the underwear, so..."
"... My clothes?"
"That's right."
"... And what about the kitchen?"
There was a long pause, then what sounded like an muffled 'ouch', "I- uh, that was actually an accident. I went the wrong way."
Lawrence rolled his eyes up, fighting the urge to yell, and hit his head into the door. The sound made Rai jump as he did it three more times before walking away to clean up.
"Psh, I don't know why he sounds so upset," Rai huffed, squeezing a sheep-like sponge, "it's not like he can't just clean it up. Sheesh."
- - -
After an hour passed Rai emerged from the bathroom, clean and drowning in the over-sized clothing he'd picked to wear. Lawrence thought he looked a little silly as he eyed him from the couch, wondering why he didn't just put on his own, cleaned, clothes he'd left for him on the nightstand.
"Feel better now?"
Rai smiled, looking as if he accomplished an amazing task, "Yes, I do. I really needed that." he blinked and smiled more suddenly, "Hey, you cleaned up the clothes and stuff! Good job!"
"Yeah, I did, but you know, I really shouldn't of had to." he turned his gaze back to the TV, the passive-aggressive showing clear as crystal in his tone.
Rai's ears tipped back and he stuck his nose in the air, "Well it's your house right? So it's your job to keep it clean!"
"Guests should pick up after themselves as courtesy to the host."
He swaggered to the couch and leaned over the back of it, giving him a look that Lawrence could only describe some sassy teenaged girl could give, "Then I'm sorry; there, happy? I'll pick up next time."
Lawrence blinked at him, no readable emotion on his face, then gave him a pat on the head with a sigh, "Thank you. Oh hey, here..."
Rai hopped over and on to the couch and watched Lawrence take a bag off the coffee table, handing it to him with a small smile, "I got these on the way home, I thought maybe you'd like them or something."
"Wow, you got me something?" his eyes lit up, eagerly opening the bag and dumping it's contents out into his lap.
"I got them out of a claw machine when I stopped at the store." he informed, managing to get out that much before he was seized into a hug.
He blinked, caught off guard and surprised for a moment, and hugged him back. This was a little heartwarming, he thought, not being able to hold back the smile growing on his face.
"Tomorrow," Rai said, still clinging to Lawrence, "I wanna go shopping for some cool stuff."
"Shh, shut up." he said softly, his smile wanting to break, "You're ruining a perfectly good moment."
There was a long pause of silence before Rai whispered, "I borrowed your strawberry boxers, by th--"
"I said stop."

Journal Entry 9Jan. 3rd, 2011Lawrence had to go to work again, so I'm like home alone and stuff. I wanted to go shopping today but because he works I can't. Lame. >:C He promised we'd do it another time, and I'm totally holding him to that.
But he said I could go out if I wanted! The snow has kind of melted, there's still a whole bunch of it but not as much as before, so I dunno he's not worried I'm going to get lost and die in it I guess. Psh. He showed me where my clothes were (nightstand! why didn't I think the nightstand!) but he also gave me this awesome fluffy coat of his and said I could wear a pair of his boots if I really wanted. So you know, I might do that later.
I dunno, I kind of like being in the house. It's warm and stuff.
Ah whatever I'm gonna go out. I've gotta go get a new watch anyway, and I want to build some snowmen.

Jan. 8th, 2011"Come on, wake up already!" it was probably only seven or eight in the morning, but Rai didn't have any patience. He squatted next to the couch, shaking Lawrence to try and wake him up.
Today was Lawrence's day off, and he had promised shopping, Rai wasn't going to wait forever for it.
The shaking didn't seem to be doing much, all Lawrence did was swat at him and turn over, curling up more into the couch. Rai stood and huffed, his hands on his hips, "Fine, you want to do it the hard way." there was a pause, like he was waiting. Nothing. Alright then.
With one good spring, Rai leaped on top of him. It was definitely enough to wake Lawrence, since the impact jolted him awake, cursing and shoving at Rai.
"Wh- what on earth are you--?!"
"Shopping!" he grabbed him by the shirt collar, pulling him close, "You promised shopping!"
He tried to find his glasses on the table beside him, pushing Rai's hands off of him, "So you jump on me?! Rai, we need to have a talk about the things you think are 'acceptable'." finally he found his glasses, putting them on and adjusting them.
Rai huffed, trying to mess up Lawrence's hair despite the fact it was already a mess, "I don't care! I just wanna go right now, before you change your mind!"
Lawrence rolled his eyes, "I'm not going to do that, and besides we have to get ready to go anyway. We both have to eat and take a ba--"
"I already did that, I'm ready to go!" his cheeks puffed out.
"... How long have you been up?" he cocked a brow at him, lifting him up and setting him aside so he could stretch and stand up. "Never mind. Just give me some time to get ready, okay?"
"Whatever." Rai crossed his arms, pouting.
As Lawrence passed him to go upstairs he patted his head, trying to remind himself that the kid only meant well. It didn't change the fact he wanted to strangle him, deep down, but it calmed the urge.
It didn't take long for Lawrence to get ready, though with Rai's constant nagging the entire time it certainly made it hard. He'd followed him everywhere, waited outside each door, hounding him relentlessly. Already it was going to be a very long day.
"I thought about it hard," Rai continued, though really it was the only part Lawrence had caught of anything he'd said, "and I decided all I want are new clothes. I mean, I've only got the one pair, it gets old."
"Mm-hm." was his half-hearted response as he put on his shoes, "You're ready to go?"
"I've been ready, sheesh." he huffed, crossing his arms and turning his nose up, "I've been waiting for you, like, the whole time. I told you that."
He sighed, rolling his eyes, "I don't get why you didn't do it yourself, you went out, didn't you?"
"What, a few days ago?" Rai blinked, "W- well yeah, but you said we'd go shopping together! So, like, you know."
Rai looked to the side, suddenly inverting on himself and rubbing his arm, obviously not wanting to say he just wanted Lawrence's company. That's what he assumed it was anyway.
"That's cute." he snorted, tapping his foot on the ground to adjust his shoe, "Let's get going then."
In a blink Rai grabbed Lawrence's arm and pulled him out the door, he only had just enough time to snatch his coat before the door was shut behind them and they were on their way.
- - -
"Just clothes?" Lawrence asked as they passed by a few stores.
"Yeah, what of it?" looking at him, his ear cocked with his eyebrow. "I told you, I've only got the one outfit!"
"I know that, I guess I just took you for a..." he rolled his hand, trying to find the word, "more materialistic sort of person."
"Pshhh! Please!" he snorted, rolling his eyes, "I'm sooo, like, simple and stuff."
"Maybe not in the way you're thinking." he held the door open for Rai, getting a punch to the chest as he walked past him.
Immediately, Rai began tossing through clothes. The employees didn't bother greeting the two, seeing as Rai wasn't paying any attention to anyone and Lawrence looked as if his costly girlfriend had just drug him here against his will.
"You have money to pay for food," he picked at a shirt, nothing was his style here, "so why didn't you buy some clothes too?"
"Food before clothes, duh." a snort came from a rack of clothing, which he assumed Rai was hiding in, "I only have so much left, you know? But like now that I'm living with you, I can totally buy clothes."
He raised a brow, glancing slowly up, "That so? So you're staying permanently then?" his attention went back to more shirts, "Don't remember agreeing to that."
Rai didn't say anything for a few beats, but quietly his voice picked up again, now in a different location, "W- well... you didn't. Neither did I. Um..." another awkward pause, "It isn't what I meant you know!"
Not noticing Lawrence standing beside him, Rai practically ran into him when he went to move. The tall man leaned over, his expression neutral,
"If you want to live with me, you can." he blinked, "You'd just have to get a job, something to occupy your time and pay me back for anything you break."
Sparks shot out from his cheeks in embarrassment, he shoved Lawrence out of his way, "I haven't broken anything yet!"
"Exactly." he sighed, walking to the wall and leaning against it, "... What do you want to do?"
When he didn't respond right away, it didn't surprise him. Lawrence didn't expect Rai to have made up his mind about something like that, especially when he didn't know him very well yet. If that even mattered to Rai. The boy grabbed a few clothes, quietly, and stomped past him, stopping when he knew all Lawrence could see was his back,
"Let's not ruin a good day, okay?"
With that said, he continued walking again. He shrugged and kept against the wall, waiting for Rai to finish having his fun.
What did he want, anyway? Well, he wanted Rai to be comfortable and happy in a warm home, that much was certain. He'd spent a good portion of time thinking about it to come to that conclusion, so he figured if Rai really wanted to live with him, it wouldn't be that much of a problem. His house was big, with a little arranging it could stand having two people in it, and the company was definitely welcome, and the kid really wasn't that bad to have around. Despite his bad habits, anyway. Lawrence had wanted to ask Rai a while ago how he felt about living with him, but considering the circumstances it seemed too awkward. It still seemed awkward, but the snow was melting fast and he couldn't keep on dodging it forever.
"Eh, I won't bother him about it."
- - -

Yep, this outfit looked awesome. He was going to buy it.
Rai took a few more spins in the mirror, admiring himself for a while longer. Just as he was about to remove the clothes and leave the dressing room, his whole body became hot, like he was embarrassed about something or angry. He looked at himself in the mirror again and rubbed his cheek,
"Oh yeah, I was supposed to think about that thing..." he said to himself quietly, "I wonder if he expects an answer by the time we're done..."
What did Rai want to do? Staying with Lawrence was nice, yeah, but it was weird at the same time. What would he say if Rai decided he wanted to live there? Was it actually okay, or would it end up like the last time he stayed with someone?
Remembering that made him frown; that last time. He really tried as hard as he could to not think about it.
Letting out a loud, frustrated and strangled scream, Rai stripped and put his other clothes back on, storming out of the dressing room and to the counter. Lawrence had heard him and looked up from where he was, blinking, what was his problem all of a sudden? Shrugging, he walked over to join him, eying the things he'd chosen.
"I thought you wanted to show me all the outfits."
"I'm staying you know!" he looked at Lawrence suddenly, "Forever!"
He blinked. That was... well, he couldn't describe it. "If that's what you want."
"So- so don't go anywhere! And don't kick me out, I'm super good at living in places!"
His cheeks sparked, that was stupid to say.
When they left, the walk home was quiet for almost half the distance. Rai had kept his head down and his eyes away from Lawrence. After some time, he'd taken a deep breath and stood up a little more straight,
"I don't know what it is about you," he began, sounding timid, "but you're really, like... like it's really easy to wanna trust you."
Lawrence looked down at him, staying quiet.
"Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm gonna trust you with my life or something, but like I... you're kind of the first person that's really stuck with me so long. Maybe that's what makes me feel so weird." he put a hand over his stomach and made a face, "I'm not used to that."
He waited a moment, "... You're an unfortunate kid. The more I get to hear about you, the more it makes me want to give you a hug."
"A hug?!" his sudden outburst made Lawrence snort.
"You don't have to tell me everything right away, but if you feel like it one day, you can you know."
Rai paused, turning his head down again, "You're not going to leave..?"
"No. I won't do that." he took a deep breath, letting it out slowly and watching the cloud of air form in front of his face.
He stumbled slightly from a sudden impact; Rai latched himself to Lawrence's arm, tightly, with a pout on his face.
"I'm not going to let you! You're stuck with me!" he hugged his arm tighter.
What a kid, he sighed and rolled his eyes, "Fine with me, promise."
