Rammah listened to the accusations fly between the kitsune and young Shasta the mech. Onatah had her two sense to add in, but it mattered not to the older wolf. They could bicker and fight and whine at each other they wanted, nothing would get done with them just standing around. "Perhaps the rest of you should choose your words more carefully, lest they be misinterpreted by the one you speak to," Rammah turned to Onatah, raising her head and her tail slightly, a low, warning growl in her throat. "You may wish to protect others from the pain you have felt, but think about your situation before hand. I meant what I said. Kitsunes are nothing but trouble makers," Some more hurtful than others. "They are thieves. It is simply who they are. There is no wrong in stating what is known as fact, Onatah." It was the first time Rammah had mentioned the wolf's name out loud, and she was not pleased.
The aging she-wolf stepped past the three others, shooting a snarling glance over at Shasta. "Every creature ever put on this earth has the ability to help heal this dying world," And her voice was a low growl. "Even someone such as yourself," She bared her teeth, but continued walking away after. "Wolf Mother watch over you," She muttered.

Onatah looked between Shasta and the kitsune, it seemed whatever was said turned into a fight between the two. there was nothing she could do to help it, afterall you could lead a horse to water but you couldent make it drink. she started to walk away, she wanted no part of this. she found herself at a small stream, clean of any toxins but you could still see bits and pieces of sediment running through. she looked at her reflection, it was surprisingly crystal clear and you could see her, black mane and all. the feather decorations she wore hung down, they were supposed to be a symbol of her status given by the few humans who still cherished the wolves. she looked down at her reflection and winced.
maned wolves are extinct
they were always endangered, even before the humans started taking their home. they were hunted for their fur, or thought to be a fox by the farmers and shot. but one day, the announcment came
maned wolves are extinct
in fear that they would be captured and given to the scientists or zookeepers to be used for breeding, and only breeding, the few left hid. but it wasent good enough. the memory of what the humans had done to her parents burned in her mind, etching itself in further into her memories. she couldn't help but keep falling into the hole that those humans had left behind.

you are the only one of your kind
you are extinct

Rammah walked up next to Onatah, but kept her eyes on the stream the flowed so clean and free. "I'm going to let you in on a little secret," Said Rammah. She knew what Onatah was, knew from the very beginning. Little escaped the watchful eye of the she-wolf, emotions included. "Remember when I had asked you about the Wolf Mother?" She asked, looking up into the sky, the clouds a silvery lining that blocked out most of the sun's harmful rays. "I..." She stopped. Would this child even believe what she had to tell her? Or would she scoff and continue to live in disbelief like others had? The white wolf shook out her fur and took in a deep breath, turning to look at Onatah. "Look at me child. Listen to what I have to say and I pray that you believe me. Should you ask for proof, I will give it to you until you believe,"
Rammah stepped in the shallow waters of the flowing stream and she faced Onatah, straightening her posture and looking the maned wolf in the eye. "I am the Wolf Mother," She spoke with a grace gained through ages and a stream of light seemed to cast itself on her, giving new light to her white fur. "Your parents were well loved, Onatah, your kind a great help in the aid to this world."

Onatah's reflection was rippled and distorted by the small waves in the water that came from the other she wolf, the one who had stepped infront of her. she looked up at her, she claimed to be the wolf mother. but...impossible...
but she looked the part. and she had seen what happened when the wolf walked, and now with her fur catching the light just so, it seemed almost real
"but...the Wolf Mother is dead! the endings to all the stories are different but theres always one thing in common- that she died" she said. she wanted to belive that this was THE Wolf mother standing in front of her, the on her parents and her family and the whole pack used to idolize. but at the same time her mind refused to believe it was true.

Malia laughed once without humor. "But I didn't harm you, now did I?" she chimed in mock cheerfulness. Malia turned on her heel and began to walk away, her tail swishing in triumph.

Her reaction was expected, but Rammah was not deterred from explaining herself. "Death can be interpreted as many things, dear child," Said the she-wolf, her golden eyes glowing softly. "Instead of remaining in the heavens and watching the world die, I decided to descend and become mortal in hopes of healing the earth,"
A soft tear stained the white fur of her cheek, but Rammah fought to keep her composure. "I will continue to prove myself until you believe," She said, dipping her tail into the flowing water. A small lily pad formed from the surface of the water where her tail had touched, a flower of brilliant pinks and purples blooming in the middle of the vibrant water leaf. "But know this, young one," Her eyes softened and looked almost sad. "I cannot heal this world by myself. It takes far too much energy from me. If I were to see this world healed, I need creatures like you to aid me,"

Luna was bored, and saddened now that she had seen the town. It upset her to see the dead places, though she knew that it had been a along time. Deciding to break her routine, the silver wolfess decided on a hunt, to see what kind of oddity she could catch herself. She walked past the broken wooden buildings, and began walking off into the tall grasses that bordered it. She had to increase her size, only a few inches or so, to see above the growth.

Onatah listened to Rammahs plea and although she wanted to believe, her mind was against it. so she could not outright say she did, but she could feel it. she looked up at the wolfess, "if anything im here to help" she said. but even she herself did not know how much time she had left.
momma told me not to over use it. she said Denny overused it, and look where he is now. but Denny didn't know any better. Denny just wanted to help. and i told her i wouldent. and she told me-
her thoughts were interrupted when her big ears caught the sound of rustling grass in the distance, first the rustling sounded like something her size. but then the rustling somehow turned into something bigger, how strange was that!

Walking towards the murmurings she could hear, Luna's silvery head poked above the greenery and then she could scent the others near. Deciding a wolf noticably taller than normal would be an odd first meeting, the wolf hoped she was interrupting nothing as she changed back to normal with a leap or so through the grass, following her nose.

Onatas ear flicked to the side and back. knowing somebody is near and yet not knowing who it is always bugged. her. and then the sound started getting closer and it changed back to her size. what was this thing and why was its movement so weird? it confused her so much! she coudlent take it, she looked to the direction she heard the sound, "who's out there!" she called, hoping for an answer.

Bounding from the tall grass, Luna appeared in front of the two in a rather comedic manner, popping from the undergrowth. "I'm here..." She said, tilting her head curiously. "Who are you?"

Onatah backed away from the wolf that had seemingly popped out of nowhere, stepping back too fast and tripping over her long, spindly legs. she mumbled a silent "ow" before getting beck up, stretching and looking at the wolf. "a wolf who is kinda ticked about tripping, thats who. and you?" she asked. just where had this wolf come from without her hearing anyways!

"Luna." The silver she-wolf smiled in greeting, then smiled wider to hide laughter. "Be careful~" The other has really long legs, and looked a bit like a fox's relative, she noticed. "Are you from around here? What's your name?" She had forgotten about hunting at the moment.

Onatah gave her a glare, "you dont need to tell me twice" she said, looking down at her long legs. they were great for running or jumping or standing tall, but backing up was a no-no. "im not from around anywhere really, i travel from place to place. and as for my name its Onatah, some just call me Ona." she said. her parents hadnt given her that name, no. in her pack nobody had a name, everybody just knew eachother. its was those Indians, they were so kind. they loved the onatah, or Earth, and they loved her, and she had earthy powers, so it just fit. oh, those were the days. sadly though, those days with the Indians were short lived. stupid humans, ruining everything that was good.

"Well thats a lovely expression!" Luna chuckled and smiled, then listened to her in silence. "Ok, I like Onatah! Does it mean something?" She tilted her silver head in curiousity at the other canine and wiggled her tail. It was nice that day, and her thoughts of a hunt vanished completely as Luna plomped onto her comfortable haunches.
