History: Kennet was born into the Harperhall; and there isn't much more to tell. He was raised knowing the ancient songs, and with the exception of his father, who favored the spoken word, most approved of his choice of focus; stringed instruments. Having had four years with studying with almost as many masters and teachers, Kennet feels he has a good enough standing in the craft; though he wishes to chase his dream of becoming a dragon rider.
Even as a small child, Kennet desired to be more than just a Harper. He wanted to be a dragonrider. As he grew older, he understood why. He wanted the freedom dragonriders seemingly had, the ability to do what he wanted, be with whoever he'd like. Though he had been an apprentice for three years, and felt he had good standing due to his parents, he felt the call to be elsewhere. Not so much literally feeling a call as hearing stories about dragonriders and wishing, more than ever, to join their ranks.
He was searched when a rider came looking for various tools; and naturally, Kennet always being one to help, offered to fetch them for him. The man's dragon seemed to take a liking to Kennet; the boy had just the right amount of awe. Kennet had a habit (and still does, occasionally) of placing dragonriders above everyone else. When he was Searched, the dragonrider had the sense to speak with Kennet's parents. It took quite a bit of convincing for them to allow their oldest son to leave the Hall; but it was decided. Kennet promised as soon as he Impressed, he would return to the Hall to visit.
Appearance: Kennet has brown, thin hair that seems to fit with his narrow facial features. He has large brown eyes like vats of chocolate. He has freckles due to often being out in the sun. In fact the boy, despite his thin build, has a certain air to him. He has a flare for charm, though he could hardly be considered handsome. He has an upturned nose and boyish features altogether. His fingers were once thin and nimble, but now thick and caloused from playing stringed instruments. His legs appear too long for his body, causing the boy lanky and taller than some of his peers.
Personality: Kennet believes he is perfection personified; and nothing any dimglow says is going to change his opinion. Everything on Pern was put there for his use; and naturally, everything he does is perfect. This overzealous, confident man believes he knows the answer to everything.
Generally, he does. Even if it's the wrong answer to the question at hand, at least he has an answer. He takes great pleasure in correcting those around him. He loves poking holes in people's logic; though that can be easily turned around, and people can poke holes into his due to his being gullible. He loves to tease. He has a sense of humor that knows no bounds, extending even to his own mistakes, and has a warm, playful smile.
Being a harper, Kennet has a certain love for news. Unwittingly, he has become a source of gossip for those he considers friends. He is an avid talker; and will assume friendship with almost anyone he meets. He tends to be gullible and though he is constantly warned not to trust everything he hears, he tends to do just that. He wants to see the good in people more than anything else, sometimes failing to see reality. Trusting and open to a fault, it is quite likely that once he is started talking, one would not be able to stop him until he gave his entire life's story--with great dramatic effect. He is fond of telling stories, and with the addition of a dragon or two, a beautiful daughter of a Lord Holder, and a quick mind, Kennet believes he can make any story interesting.
One thing that must be known about Kennet is that he is a flirt. A terrible, dramatic flirt at that. He finds great pleasure acting as if he takes everything to heart; bringing much more emotion into a situation than is needed. He never seems to care much who he's flirting with; as long as they are human, and female. Due to this, Kennet has a very--well--inflated view of himself. He believes he is Pern's gift to women, and so, spends most of his free time with them when not practicing his guitar. His great flaw is definitely in that he's vain.
He genuinely cares about what other people think about him. If he feels that someone does not like him, he will confront them, perhaps to inquire as to why. With his mindset as it is, he will not willingly admit to having any flaws; and thus possibly does not see when he upsets others. He is sensative and has a need to be accepted by all; though he generally expects them to due to his vanity. It upsets him greatly when he discovers that someone does not enjoy his company; he is most certainly an attention seeker, and will at all times, strive to be the center of attention.
He tends to be clumsy, animatedly talking with his hands--which often leads to something falling or--well. It usually ends up with the boy apologizing profusely in both cases, hoping he didn't cause a bruise.
Despite his flaws, Kennet respects authority; especially those on dragonback. Though he wouldn't admit it, his greatest wish is to join their ranks and become a rider. The stories he heard growing up as an apprentice harper appealed to him as a child; and the freedom they seemingly have is one he only dreams of.

Hello and welcome to DRoP! There's just a couple of things I need you to tighten up a bit before I can accept mister Kennet. <33
Firstly, I'd like to see a little bit more history please, especially since you've mentioned that he has good standing in his craft. What made him want to leave his craft, knowing that he'd have to make up for tons of lost time if he doesn't Impress, to chase dragons? Why did his parents let him go? How was he Searched? I just need a little bit more for character motivation purposes and such.
Secondly, can you highlight to me the two things you consider his flaws and tell me how at least one can cause conflict? I can see gullible and vain right now, but my concern is that you've got a character that can only have harm done to them rather than one that can be harmed but can also do harm to other people (on purpose or inadvertently). Basically, you want someone who can be held accountable for the bad things they do to others. You only need one of these, but since you have gullible as a flaw I'd like something with a little more strength to help boost the conflict potential.
Otherwise, looking very good!

I'm a little unclear as to why Kennet feels the need for so much freedom, since harpers lead some of the freest existences on Pern, and certainly less regimented ones than dragonriders, unless perhaps he doesn't know that most of being a dragonrider is working and doing duties that are dangerous and difficult. I can understand how he would get it into his head to idolize dragonriders, given how heroically they tend to be portrayed, but the typical dreams of becoming a dragonrider would probably fade as he settled into his own craft. Otherwise it seems kind of like a kid never growing out of wanting to be a princess when she grows up. Or is it less that he really wants to be a dragonrider, but has said that's what he wants for so long that his stubbornness has convinced him to continue saying so even though he's doing well as a harper?
