Why do most fans bash people who call Hisoutensoku "Unthinkable Natural Law", yet absolutely nobody seems to notice that:

a) "Great Fairy Wars" is a translation as well - it's probably better to call it Yousei Daisensou;
b) "Selenite" might be a more accurate translation than "Lunarian"; and
c) Flan's weapon is called Lævateinn, not "Lävatein"?

People hate the title UNL because it's an inaccurate machine translation. At least the translation of "Great Fairy Wars" is an accurate translation, plus it summarizes the plot in a nutshell as opposed to UNL which doesn't match up.

As for Lunarian, that's a term that's already been around, so people tend to use that since it's familiar. I remember the term as far back as the Super Nintendo and Final Fantasy IV. Lunarian is just a general title tacked onto humans (or beings of human form) who live on the Moon.

I've actually never seen someone spell it "Lävatein". I've always seen it spelled the proper way. Even Castlevania spells it the right way.

The more correct translation for Hisoutensoku would be "Lacking Perception of the Natural Laws of the East" or "Lacking Perception of the Rule of Heaven in the East". Of course that's much to tedious to say, so I just say 'Soku personally.

I've actually never seen someone spell it "Lävatein". I've always seen it spelled the proper way. Even Castlevania spells it the right way.

How nice. It's been the opposite for me. I've seen it spelled with a single N and/or with "ä" or "a" most of the time. Either that or, only once or twice, approximations like "Levantine" or "Leviathan".

Hm, I prefer to say Hisoutensoku because I think it sounds pretty.

A: Easy. "Great Fairy Wars" is proudly displayed in-game. "Unthinkable Natural Law" is a babelfish of a title that is quite literally the name of a certain robot (and translating names is just silly).

B: Who cares? Roman vs Greek, or you could just go call them "Moon People" for all I care. It's all the same.

C: A lot of people don't know how to properly spell Old Norse words (heck, a lot of people have trouble spelling in English even).

Technically "Unthinkable Natural Law" is "Lacking Perception of the Laws in the East", lacking perception is lacking the understanding of something. So it might not be the same, but its rather close. If you cant understand something, and you cant think of it, its not the same but is similar in ways.
