Hey, guys. I'm gonna post this a little early because I have to work tomorrow, but here's this week's PotW: Stantler. I didn't use the random number generator this week, and instead looked for a more Christmas related pokemon.
Did you know?
Stantler is the only normal type pokemon that can learn both Imprison and Calm Mind by level up?
Lets start with the base stats:
HP: 73
Attack: 95
Defense: 62
Special Attack: 85
Special Defense: 65
Speed: 85
Eesh. Not much room here to experiment. This guy clearly belongs in the NU tier. Though, one thing does make him fairly decent: Frisk.
The ability frisk is rather useful, as it reveals your opponents held item. Of course, you could always use Bannete for that, but... they ARE two different pokemon, after all.
Lets look at some other good things about Stantler:
Hypnosis+Dream Eater: Pretty self explanatory here: Put your opponent to sleep, then take their health as your own.
STAB Giga Impact: Does some serious damage to anything not immune to it. Choice Band increases this damage.
STAB Return: For those that don't like the recharge period of Giga Impact.
Presents: Every sleigh needs something to make it go, right?
And, now for the downsides of this pokemon.
Trick: Sadly, Stantler cannot learn it. Therefore, you cannot trade items with the foe, which is where Stantlers ability would be useful.
Other ability: Okay, seriously, how many pokemon have the Intimidate ability?
Low defenses: This guy's easy to OHKO, unfortunately.
Well, that's it, folks. For the record, I wouldn't recommend using Stantler for anything, but the choice is up to you. Anyway, have a Merry Christmas everyone. See you all again next week.
