Alessa and Gabe are certainly a bit of an odd duck couple and the process of them getting together was long and progressive. No love at first sight for these two! They started off rather badly, mainly because they met in their animal forms (http://my.deviantart.com/messages/#/d3eh6v9) . Since Gabe is a Nix (water demon with a sea serpent form) and Alessa is a rabbit Nagaul (shapeshifter, animal based on day of birth), you can imagine it was...a little abnormal. He tried to eat her initially and that just didn't go well. He did apologize, but the whole thing left Alessa rather ruffled and begrudging, even if he was less so. He, in fact, found her amusing, mainly because she chattered so incessantly. They became reluctant (at least on Alessa's part) friends when she needed some singing lessons and they made a pact without Alessa really knowing what that meant. He marked her so she owed him a favor, essentially, but it was something he never ended up claiming, because after befriending a gryphon boy and werewolf ghoul, they fell into a more relaxed friendship as a part of a group. The bantering, which had sprung from their first meeting, however, never died out. It simply changed a bit. His remarks were less biting, perhaps a little less critical, while hers were less offended and less angry, more teasing and playful.

You'd think they'd get together sometime around here, right? Not quite. At this point, they were both dating other people. So, while they become comfortable friends, they weren't extremely close, if only because they were a bit occupied with their significant others. Realizing their two other friends were attracted to one another (Gabe was dating the werewolf, Alessa and the gryphon), Gabe broke up with his girlfriend because he knew he loved her, but wasn't in love with her. A while later Alessa was separated from her boy for similar reasons. It was after this where they really started to bond, starting with how Alessa comforted Gabe after his breakup by forcing him to traipse around with her playing dorky games like shoots and ladders and blowing bubbles and what have you. When it was her turn, he settled her down with a nice apple cinnamon pie, because he had known she'd be in his shoes soon. They began to spend more time with each other and, eventually, Gabe came to the realization that he loved her. After banging his head against the wall multiple times at the karmony of it (karma and irony), he accepted it and...didn't really do anything in particular. It was tricky because she was oblivious. It didn't help that she made him do things such as give her swimming lessons, alone, in a pool, while she was wearing a bikini. Or that, once, when one of the nastier girls they knew got her horribly drunk, she came to his room and was practically straddling him in his seat. Completely innocent, drunkenly affectionate straddling, but still. There had been absolutely no tension on Alessa's part; no unusual blushes, no sudden cuddling, nothing. After that incident, though, things changed for Alessa. Not drastically; she didn't notice anything consciously, but she did suddenly become more aware of their closeness and more abashed to it. It might have gone fine if Gabe hadn't hinted he liked someone and she demanded to know who it was so she could help him out. Not ready to confess yet, she imply told her some hints, one being "her name starts with 'A'" and sang her a small song. But, dense and narrowly focused as she was, Alessa never thought it was her. Instead she thought he had his eye on some girl somewhere and he just wasn't willing to tell her who.

As time passed, it slowly began to bother her more and more until eventually she realized she'd fallen for him, even though she wasn't 'supposed' to because he 'liked to someone else'. Scared to death of this, and not wanting to hurt him and his chances with his 'mystery girl', became completely withdrawn from him. If she could avoid being alone with him she did, she avoided touching him in any way, and she was distant and quiet. Gabe, having no idea what was going on, decided if he was going to lose her anyway, he was going to at least go down fighting and confess to her. He had to corner her in her room and tell her. When he did she was upset, angry at him for not telling her sooner because, damn, it had hurt to push herself away from him. It was only after some comforting that they got together.

There's still some (a lot) of the teasing, but it's lighthearted and where she would, in the past, get angry and frustrated with him for teasing her, she now usually no longer does, instead either trying to play along or... feeling embarrassed about the situation. He, for his part, has changed the biting tones he used to have. So think loving, but still with a teasing edge to them. They're intimate, but any intimate interacts usually start with poor Alessa highly embarrassed, nervous, and a bit defensive, until she relaxes. Important aspects of their relationship include the fact that Gabe is one of the few people Alessa will ever trust to ask for help. She's hugely independent and tries to do everything herself, but with Gabe more often than anyone she'll ask, knowing she's not inept because of it. And while Alessa won't put up with crap, when he needs it there's no one more fervently compassionate than her.

A bit about them on their own...

Out of the two of them Gabrian seems to hold the slight upper hand in that he's less easily ruffled, much more calm and honestly, has long since actually decided he actually sort of likes Alessa's company. As such he only gets on her nerves out of amusement. He's elegant, refined, and thrives off of verbal banter (he can argue points into the very ground without getting frustrated, much to Alessa's er... well, frustration, actually). He's sly and sharp, managing to be particularly smart when he wants to be. On the other hand... he's also a bit of a drama queen, and can be a jerk is things don't go his way. He can also slip into nastier remarks if his feathers ARE ruffled (which he later regrets). He's also, despite being a serpent, actually a ... gentleman. Most of the time anyhow (he IS only human demon, and male). He dislikes physical fighting and loves music. He's, btw, a Nix. A water fae (in this ic setting, fae are categorized as demons) that sort of resemble mermaids when they are female. As males, they... apparently take on either serpent, or fish forms, or human forms (Gabe takes on a snake form). They play the violin and can sing - the music they make is charming to beasts and humans - it is said they would drown human beings when they were under the effect of their music. He has a huge weakness for cute things, so he has a hoard of animals and pets and takes rather good care of them.

Alessa is a strange combination of rational and emotional. It works in the sense that Alessa is very reactive to her emotions, reacting impulsively, especially in high tension situations. She then tends to apply reason to whatever her qualm is. If reason doesn't hold up she does her best to fight her emotions off, but if she can find any excuse that her emotions are valid, she goes with it. This means she can be angry at you with a terrible excuse, but as long as its an excuse, she'll stick to her guns. She's stubborn as a mule and ridiculously independent. She hates being babied or coddled (one reason she probably never could have stayed with her earlier boyfriend), believing she needs to be strong enough to take care of herself, especially since she's an herbivore shifter. She is, however, extremely compassionate and generous. She helps out her friends regardless of the situation and, for a rabbit, she's fiercely protective of them. She tolerates a lot and what she doesn't tolerate she's very vocal about. She is, however, rather touch-shy and doesn't take compliments well, because she isn't used to them. When afraid, she tends to talk even more than normal, "ranting" acting as her form of fight. She loves to cook and bake and spends a good amount of her free time in the kitchen.

Other fun things to know:
-Alessa does not always have a tail in her humanoid form. In fact, she usually only has it out when she's happy and its an involuntary reaction.
-Apple cinnamon pie is a running OCC joke with them...almost as if its a uphamism for their relationship. This is because in their original confession Alessa was making such a pie. Than later their friends (different players, not me or darkuangel) decided Alessa smelled of apples and Gabe of cinnamon...so it's just funny. Plus it's each of their favorite desserts, for some odd reason.
-Gabe can't cook worth a lick. In fact, he and their other friends are banned from the kitchen less they burn it down.

It's hard to distinguish where the line between friendship and something else starts or ends. In fact, it's so blurred that these two characters have yet to realize the fact, and if they HAVE noticed it, well, they've not yet chosen to address it or act upon it. Despite having a rather rocky beginning, Morton and Coralie soon noticed they were what one might call.... birds of a feather, actually and decided to make the most of it.

Out of the two, it's quite possibly Coralie whom wears the metaphorical 'pants' of the relationship. It's not that she's strong physically (in fact, Morton far surpasses her in this aspect), and it's not that she's a particularly dominant personality. It seems more due to the fact they have come to a silent agreement that Cora is the unspoken leader of their trouble making duo (until there's actual danger ahead, during which Morton steps in without so much as a breathe of hesitation) because her mind is far sharper when it comes to... well, general trouble making, actually. Cora is not mean, however; in her eyes, life is just meant to be fun, and if it means she has to cause some general (harmless) trouble to make it all that much more interesting, then, well, she will. She means well, deep down. She's also so chill and laid back over things that it's possible she doesn't realize that things don't slide off others as easily as they slid off of her.

Then, there's Morton, who can be a strange, strange guy. On one hand, he's just as laid back and chill as Coralie, to the point he can often be found with his head on the girl's lap while she gives him head scratches (which he loves). He's not only like this with Cora though; Morton is generaly happy, carefree and rather sweet with almost everyone he meets. He is so happy and naive that he will likely proclaim himself your friend on the spot if you reach out and pet his head. He also has VERY little sense of personal space; in fact, Morton has no IDEA WTF personal space even IS. He will happily walk over to Cora, flop his head on her shoulder in the middle of class and expect no one to bat an eye. He will happily climb up the girl's dorm room, enter into Cora's room while it's dead at night and not think twice about it. On the other hand... he can, at the drop of a hat (or rather, at the first sign of REAL trouble), adopt an almost guard-dog stance and personality. You do NOT want to ******** with Coralie if Morton is around to see; due to being a gargoyle, he has a deeply rooted NEED to protect that what he cares for. Be it Cora, his room, or that large boulder over there. YES THAT BOULDER IS HIS, MAN. Didn't you see he wrote his name on it? EEEESH!

It's not that Morton is stupid and that Coralie is smart; in fact... despite being as intelligent as Coralie is, Morton is simply quite content with letting her lead (unless he feels the need to jump in, during dangerous situations). So she wants to go to the ends of the earth? Sure, fine, he'll let her lead the way! Sounds interesting!

The fact they're so laid back allows them to be rather physical with eachother and yet... not think twice about it. Or rather, Cora doesn't think twice about it, personally. Morton actually VERY much likes Cora, to the point one could say he's crushing rather nicely on her; not only that, but he's actually well aware of the fact. He's just... for some ODD reason, never considered it an important fact that he should let her know. In fact, he considers it to be so OBVIOUS that he's not bothered to tell her. He's quite happy and content as they are (not because he's afraid to tell her or anything - he's just so laid back he er... doesn't think it should matter - idk, he's odd).
