Well, that depends on how much validity you see to the old testament. I personally see the old testament as not very valid because of all the outdated laws. But it is still something leading up to Christ, so therefore should be read in order to understand his teachings.
Do my gosh old testament is still in effect, Jesus said one jot or tilt shall by no means pass from the law, however paul said that we are no longer under law but grace, we're under the new covenant, when we accpet Christ, but the OT still apply I believe. But perhaps not to us born agains eh? More research is required into the subject.
