The new excell summon:
When you have 2 monsters with the same level on your side of the field, you can special summon a monster with the combined levels.
3+3=6
4+4=8
5+5=10
That's what I read.
It'd make things easier to summon like a Blue-Eyes or a DM.
"So is an exceed summon a new mechanic alone or does it come with new styles of monsters?
Are we going to be able to exceed summon old monsters like blue eyes or would it have to be a special style?"
EDIT: the exceed monster isn't combined level, it has no level. Instead it has rank, stars that appear opposite to where level would be, and rank is the same as the level of the individual monsters (ie. 3+3= rank 3 monster, 4+4= rank 4 monster)
This alllows the exceed monster to bypass level traps, such as gravity bing and level limit area B.
It can be summoned using any monsters, as long as they meet level requirements; any normal, effect, gemini, tuner, synchro, ritual, or fusion monster can be used as exceed material.
