Name: Roxyn
Age: 18
Gender: Male
History: Roxyn is the oldest child of R’xen, the whitesecond of Nowhere Islands, and he is the only son. (His mother and other siblings are totally unimportant.) It became clear immediately who was the favorite child, and ever since the boy was old enough to toddle after the man, he has. Given, it was a little difficult when he was young; R’xen was off doing MANLY MAN THINGS and Roxyn was a toddler, but for as long as the boy can remember, he’s been hanging around with his father. Of course, before that, he did actually stay with his mother, and boy, did he ever take after R’xen. Nothing but a ball of hyped-up energy, Roxyn was always a blur, racing around and screeching at the top of his lungs for the hell of it. And you know what? IT WAS AWESOME.
While he started trying to hang around his father since he was about five turns old, Roxyn all but lost the man when he was ten. Used to monopolizing the man’s attention, R’xen was practically absorbed with his white dragon for two whole turns. After all, young dragons need care and blah blah blah. This is how much the ten-year-old cared. (Not much.) It quickly became clear to him, though. If he wanted to hang out with his dad some more, he was going to need a dragon. A white dragon. Like his father.
As soon as he was old enough to Stand, Roxyn started. His father has been personally training him (what’s a little favoritism for the best son ever?), as has J’aro, the Whitemaster. After all, R’xen isn’t exactly the brightest glow in the basket, and J’aro has his concerned what he’s taught Roxyn is liable to get him killed. (Which is probably true.)
When not following his dad around like a little lost puppy, Roxyn is hanging with his best friend, Arisa. They grew up together, more or less, and Arisa has proven to temper the boy when his hero-worship enthusiasm gets the best of him. You see, Roxyn is under the impression that white riders are the coolest things ever, and the only one who comes close to his dad is J’aro. And thus, a strange, obsessive crush has blossomed, though the only one currently aware is Arisa.
Appearance: Roxyn is a spitting image of his father, only more adorable and less scarface. Having yet to wrestle a white dragon in earnest (though he does practice with Noladenth), he hasn’t been horribly maimed. (Yet.) He does have an impressive scar running across one thigh (Noladenth came very close to clamping her jaws over him, once) and a few lighter ones running down his back, but no true marks of battle. It is safe to say Roxyn admires scars, and would be happy to don some more.
His hair is dark, as are his eyes, but Roxyn takes a pride in his appearance his father does not. He keeps his hair brushed and tied back, and his teeth aren’t quite as hideous as most of the men. (Say what you will. Yellow teeth don’t actually make you manly, Roxyn will argue.) His skin is a little lighter than his father’s, as his mother was a fairer woman, but his skin tone is still a bit darker than the average Pernese man’s. Roxyn stands at a handsome six feet, though the boy is a twig; both boy and father hope he’ll continue to group upwards and gain a little muscle. After all, he’s only eighteen.
Personality: If you describe R’xen as ‘GET OUT OF THAT TREE, you sharding idiot, what am I going to tell your mother?’, you can safely describe his only son as ‘DON’T YOU DARE FOLLOW HIM INTO THAT TREE, if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump off too?’. (You don’t really want the answer to that question.) Roxyn has always seemed to have an eye for the dangerous…or maybe quite the opposite. After all, he seems to have absolutely no sense of self-preservation. (It may be a necessary trait as far as white riders go.)
Bold and brash, Roxyn is a boy’s boy. He’s rough, he’s tough, and he can do sharding anything. (That’s what his father tells him, anyways!) A victim of the delusion he’s bigger and stronger than he actually is, he isn’t so much brave as he is blindly confident. He’ll do whatever’s asked of him, as long as it doesn’t degrade his manliness factors. (So no, he doesn’t pick flowers or sing songs, he sharding hunts fire lizards and chases tunnel snakes!) In fact, Roxyn seems immune to the charms of pretty young girls, despite being at the age to be most prone to someone batting their eyelashes delicately and pursing their lips. It flies right over his head; despite the fact his bestest friend ever is a female, Arisa really is his best friend. He has no romantic interest in her, no matter how much he teases her.
With an enthusiasm enough for ten candidates, Roxyn isn’t actually as overly-helpful as one might assume. In fact, you could accuse him of being lazy, at least where actual work is concerned. While he’s the first to dive into crazy stunts, he’s also the first to hand his chores off to anyone in the vicinity. Roxyn considers himself pretty hot stuff, as a matter of fact, and expects people to do what he tells them too. It’s not just vanity, it’s also arrogance. R’xen treats him like the best thing since sliced bread, able to conquer anything, and Roxyn has started to expect the same things from others. He is the greatest thing since sliced bread, isn’t he…?
Lazy as he is, Roxyn gets what he wants. If it involved hard work, he’ll find a sneaky way around it. Take J’aro, for example. Roxyn is quite interested in that hunk of man (don’t tell his dad!), but as opposed to fighting Bekar, who so obviously has his attention, the candidate will stoop to spreading rumors, or trying to steal all J’aro’s time. (Could you explain that to me again, Whitemaster? Come closer, I can’t really hear you…) Too skinny to pose a real threat, he’s much more of a b*****d than he is his father. It stems from jealousy; that’s why he wanted to be a whiterider, after all. If he’s a white rider, J’aro and R’xen will pay him more attention, right?
Attention whore would be putting it nicely. Roxyn digs for compliments, he does favors so you’ll tell him how wonderful he is. In fact, he’s not beyond throwing a temper tantrum if he feels your attention is straying elsewhere. He is the best, don’t you dare start pampering those other white riders. He’ll get the next white, because he’s the best there ever was!
Is this character being trained as a 'White Candidate'? That shouldn’t even be a question.
Other: R’xen is the coolest whiterider ever. (YOU’RE THE BEST DAD.)
