Name: Narenne
Age: 23
Gender: female

History: Born into a family which tended to produce guards but few dragonriders, Narenne lived through the dramatic events of her childhood with relatively little trauma. Grown up affairs were for grown-ups to deal with, and she ignored them. When she was old enough to stand for hatchings, she did so, and she was somewhat horrified by the events at some of the hatchings, but she wasn't scared off. If anything, each disaster made her more determined to overcome the odds and the dangers and become a dragonrider, specifically a white rider.

Before she came to this decision regarding becoming a whiterider, Ren met Tanasha. Well, she'd always known Ash, but she'd never actually considered that her interest in her might be anything out of the ordinary. As it turned out, Ren liked girls. Her parent's weren't much shocked by this revelation, in fact, they encouraged her in it, since she was far less likely to end up pregnant that way. And so she approached Butch without a visible hint of concern that her advances might be rebuffed. She knew she was beautiful, and it would be Ash's loss if she couldn't appreciate that.

Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, Ash was interested, though maybe a little overwhelmed that someone like Ren would be interested in other women. They began a relationship and Ren, true to nature, was always eager for anything Ash might propose, and often was the one pushing her partner to try increasingly intimate activities. Being that this was the first relationship either of them had been in, there was some disagreement and Ren tended to blow these entirely out of proportion. Deciding to enter training to Impress a white was partly a reaction to one of their disagreements, a taunt and a dare.

Their breakup was sudden, but also unexpected, for they had kept their disagreements private and on the surface all seemed to have been going well for the pair. Neither would talk about what caused the split, but their enmity for each other since then has been undeniable. Ren found herself someone new almost immediately and to all appearances never looked back, unless one counts her grudge as looking back. She also threw herself into her training as a white candidate.

It's been several turns since then and she's been in a number of relationships which seem to have mellowed her somewhat, but Ren's main goal remains the Impression of a dangerous white dragon. When she's not working at that, she has a fine hand with a needle and thread and makes clothing alterations.

Appearance: For all that her ancestry is largely uninteresting, Ren did seem to be especially favored when it came to genetics. Her eyes are large and wide-spaced, giving her the look of a perpetual ingenue, though their dark color could lend her a bit of mystery with the proper application of kohl (which she's quite good at). Ren's brown hair is not very long, but she keeps it very clean and carefully styled. The rest of her is kind of unfairly good-looking, and she dresses to emphasize that fact, wearing clothing which clings to her trim waist and displays a great deal of pushed-up cleavage. She also has a tendency to hike her skirts up higher than necessary when climbing around, or tinker with the tailoring so that slits go much higher than they should.

Personality: Having been pretty for basically all of her life, Ren has grown very accustomed to the fact that most people, no matter how much they deny it, are more inclined to be helpful to a pretty girl who smiles sweetly than not. Sure, there are those who are spiteful just because they're jealous or feel inadequate around more attractive people, but Ren has never been much bothered by them. Thus, her experiences have led her to a sense of entitlement which would be hard to shake.

Whatever Ren wants, she tends to get, often by batting her eyelashes and bending over. When this, her go-to method, doesn't work and she's thwarted in her goals, Ren doesn't pout or give people the cold shoulder. She adds them to her mental list of People I Hate With So Much Passion There Are No Words To Describe It And I Hope They Get Eaten By Crabs. The reason for this is simple: by denying Ren's desires and being immune to her charms, they are contradicting her worldview that she is beautiful and charming, and she is vain enough not to tolerate that sort of contradiction.

In truth, Ren is not quite the squealing girly-girl a cursory glance would make her out to be. Should someone ever accuse Ren of being vain, however, she will deny it up and down. Ren is convinced that she is a low-maintenance girl. True, she will spend hours getting made up in the morning and she is always conscious of how she looks in front of an audience, but that's never stopped her from doing exactly what she wanted. And to prove a point Ren will go to great lengths, even crawling through blood and mud and sand if necessary. After all, a bath will fix most of that, and so she doesn't shy from violence or unpleasantness. There are even those who say she can become physically violent if an argument gets heated enough, though it's unlikely she'd go for serious damage.

Her tendency to avoid causing serious damage is not because she fears the repercussions. For someone who takes such great care with her appearance, Ren is quite free with her body and will take whatever risks she likes. Part of her fondness for risk-taking is because she likes the attention it brings her, but the other part is that she simply likes to take risks and push limits. Not rules, mind - growing up in a penal colony instilled a very healthy respect for rules in the girl - but tradition is a thing she feels can be balked occasionally. Going along with her vehement denial of being vain, Ren is also pretty heedless of the fact that some of the risks she takes could endanger her good looks.

It was mentioned before that people Ren dislikes are added to a s**t list, though s**t list is probably too mild a term. It should also be mentioned that they do know they're there if she puts them there, and they know why. Ren is very forthright when it comes to expressing her feelings, desires, and opinions. She's not so headstrong that her mind can't be changed by reason, but the stronger her stance, the more oblique the angle contradiction should come from. As she's aged she's gotten better about accepting criticism and contradiction, but outright negation is just not the way to go with her.

Is this character being trained as a 'White Candidate'? yes

Other: Ren likes the new colors. She sees them as a big F you to all the traditionalists in Ghenza and the other Weyrs. She particularly likes the fact that whites are faster than greens, reds more maneuverable than browns, and blacks more powerful (in her eyes) than golds.
