I think that the ninja's don't know what cristmas is being in the land of fire, and you can tell by the amount of tree's there that they hadn't had a winter in a while soo, how about a stranger walks into town and our team catches him doing weird thing {decorations ect..} soo we put him on the spot for questioning and he tells us of this cristmas thing then the ninja's do their own thing {decorate the tree's like their having a festival and eating lots} Hmm... that may be true. But what about this?
I think they know. But you have a very good idea of how it maybe got started there, sensei. ^.^
