Kalania was angry. No, furious. She felt like she would spit fire any moment. If only some thread would fall! Then her temper could singe it to the nasty black ash it deserved to be, and maybe, MAYBE, she would feel better.

Maybe.

"UGH!"

Stomping from the field where the majority of the younger boys had been playing ball, she stormed into the dining hall. Hazel eyes sparking with fire, she grabbed a plate, loaded it with food, and searched for someone to vent to. Relief filled her when she saw Iafri at a far table and she quickly joined her good friend for some lunch.

"I HATE boys. Hate them. Stupid, sniveling, butt scratching little apes!"

Oh, dear. Iafri could tell from the moment Kalania entered the dining hall that something was wrong - not a something that had her sad, but angry. If it hadn't been her friend, the older girl would have been a little worried; but she knew that Kalania would only vent to her, not take it out on her, and so she didn't flinch at all.

The candidate tilted her head, ready to listen. "What have they done now?"

Kala shoveled food into her mouth, too angry to say anything at first. After she swallowed, she threw her hair out of her face and slammed her fist into the table. "The sharding little bastards cheated! They knew I had them beat, but they had to best me the only way they knew how. They're lucky they still have any hide left!"

Unconsciously, she rubbed the knuckles of her right hand, wincing as she encountered the scraps there. Her anger had gotten the better of her, and she had lashed out. But they had deserved it for humiliating her, tripping her up as she had gone for the wherhide ball and a scoring goal.

"I know I'm a candidate and shouldn't do such things, but damnit, 'Fri. They made me so mad," she short girl said with a frown, her outward anger quickly subsiding in the presence of her friend. But inwardly, she would feel sore about it for a long, long while.

Alright, the fist-slamming made her wince a little, purely out of reflex. Aggressive behavior, even when it wasn't directed towards her, made Iafri a little edgy. But a part of her did admire Kalania for daring to fight when she'd been wronged, even if it was just a little game - a game she avoided, thank you. Anything that had the potential to get rough was not her cup of klah.

"You're going to get hurt one of these days," Iafri worried, reaching out to grab and inspect her friend's hand. "Especially when they outnumber you."

Three years younger then her friend, Kala still had a few things to learn, but as the boys she had been playing with were even younger then her, she had little worry, but of course, none of this even went through her mind. Taking her hand back, she sipped her cup of klah, already enamored with the beverage.

"I'll hurt them first, 'Fri," the girl said with a wide, toothy smile. It was one of her best attributes. Even though she smiled at the thought of inflicting pain on her "enemies", her smile was non-the-less infectious, regardless of what mood she was in when she showed it.

"Besides, you know the whers wouldn't let me get hurt."

Changing topics, her eyes grew a little wide. "I heard there's eggs on the sands. Is it true?"

Well, maybe not always infectious. Iafri, who was skeptical about Kalania's supposed invinciblity, did not return the smile this particular time. Just because Kala hurt them first didn't mean they wouldn't hurt her worse, but that thought went unsaid. It would be a little too like disagreement.

So it was just as well that the other girl changed topics. Iafri nodded. "Yeah, from a gold and a bronze this time, so there won't be any...different colors popping out."

Which was fine by her! White and black dragons were sharding scary.

Kala frowned at Iafri's tone of voice when she spoke of the odd colors that the islands had seen, if a little infrequently. "Do you not like the different colors? The whites are a little intimidating, but pfft. I could tame one," the girl said with a grin, standing up and raising her fist into the air dramatically. " Whiterider K'ia, of white Bitchth! Or something!"

The girl giggled and jumped around, showing her youth and how hyper she could get with a cup of klah.
