The dark lioness woke from yet another restful slumber... only to find herself in an empty den. Vuxta was wondering where her companion had gone off to. Had he finally gotten tired of her? And then just... left while she was asleep? Sadly the young female rose to her paws, letting her head drop to the dirt so she could feel her way across the forest with her whiskers and nose.
It was time to start off again into the wilderness. Alone, this time. The company was nice while it lasted, at least. Vuxta would be lying if she said she wouldn't miss that enthusiastic lion. Maybe they would cross paths again someday...

Trotting back ever so triumphantly, Vihrea had taken even longer to return than He had liked simply because he had to clean himself of that carcass smell. He also stopped to hunt to bring back Vuxta a tasty treat. When he got back, dragging another waterbuck by the leg with his jaws, he saw her finding her away out of the cave and....off to somewhere. Opening his jaws, he dropped his kill onto his paws and let out a groan, but hopped, skipped, and jumped over to the lioness.
"Hey...where ya goin? I just brought food..." he said....among other things. He was also going to tell her what he learned about the vulture too once she had her fill of meat.

"Oh! Vihrea, I thought you..." She let her words get cut off with a little giggle as the male noisily made his way over to her. "I was just getting some fresh air." She lied, but the truth wasn't at all necessary anyway.
"Thanks... Smells like waterbuck." She displayed a grin, a rather rehersed one, and she could only hope it didn't look awkward as she politely trailed towards the kill. "You should take me hunting with you next time. You'd be surprised how good I am."

Vihrea watched as she trotted over, a momentarily confused look on his face. She seemed happy enough, but her words struck him with surprise. "Oh...no I don't doubt that...but I had...some other business to attend to..." he stumbled through his words, not eeeexactly sure how to say it. "Besides, you were so fast asleep. Didn't wanna wake ya." he said as he followed behind her.
He sat down on his haunches and watched her. He had already had his fill for meat for the day, so she was free to eat as much as she pleased. Fiddling with his paws, he couldn't stop his mind from wandering however. Taking a few breaths and letting out a sigh, he decided to just go with it. "So I found that vulture...from the other day. And I found out why she was so upset at you."

"Well, that was thoughtful." Vuxta admitted, gratefully taking a chunk of the carcass and devouring it with as much grace as any lion could display during a feast.
"You went after the vulture?" Vuxta was surprised, though it didn't show in her face, it certainly did in her voice. How sweet of him to go out of his way like that. Though it was probably his thrill-seeking personality to blame for the most part.
"Did she happen to say anything about... How I tried to eat her?" Vuxta couldn't help but giggle at the thought, but it was really nothing to hold such a strong grudge over.

Vihrea smirked and chuckled a bit himself. "So thats what happened." he said and groomed one of his sore cut paws. They had healed nicely but still a tad tender in places and after his 'workout' today, he was starting to feel the side effects. "Well not quite. But she did say that you made a fool of her." he said half way through a lick.
Letting out a small yawn, he stretched himself out thoroughly and padded over to her side. She had already made a dent in the carcass. Was she really that hungry? Actually.... it was kinda cute. "So what exactly did happen between you two?" he questioned curiously.

Vuxta daintily slurped up a decent chunk of warm meat before turning her blood stained muzzle in Vihrea's direction. "Before I'd learned to hunt blind..." She explained, her voice getting distant as she recalled the rather painful event. "I was always starving. One day I was on the brink of death, and that vulture must have sensed it. She was stalking me so I played dead... And when she got close enough I attacked her." Vuxta emerged from her thoughts as she returned her attention to the carcass.
"I would have eaten her if she hadn't gotten away. It's kind of a silly thing to be so upset over, isn't it?" A dark paw rose, securing itself on the dead animal as she prepared to take yet another chunk.

Vihrea was definitely lost in thought. He could see both sides actually...believe it or not. But of course, weather he knew it or not, he was feeling a tad biased. "Well... Probably not to her, but to us lions....yes." he chuckled a bit and gave her a playful tap on the shoulder. "But you've come along way since then huh....." he trailed off in thought. He wasn't even aware he was thinking such things aloud. "Because you look really beautifuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUH.... goood. You look really good." he grinned cheesily, if he could sweat, several beads would be pouring down his face.
Smacking his tail against the ground, he coughed and stared back down at his paws. "So...yeah...um..." he said and brought a fore paw up to scratch around his mane when he felt something. Using his toes, he pulled out two sunset colored feathers. "Huh...how did these get in here?" he mused to himself as he fiddled with em in his paw. He then had a thought. "Vuxta.... I do believe, you now have yourself a few trophies." he grinned and held the feathers together as best he could and pictured them dangling from her ear or around her neck.

"I have come a long way." Vuxta said, brimming with pride about herself. If ever a feline could be independent, she could be the one. She'd proved it to herself multiple times when she was stranded from her pride. It was a good feeling.
Everything that stumbled its way out of Vihrea's mouth at the moment deserved a hearty laugh, and Vuxta was not about to deny it to him. "I really do look good? I can't really tell."
Vuxta could only hear an odd shuffle of fur as Vihrea dug his paw into his mane. She silently questioned what he had found, but then he had already answered. "Trophies...?"

Vihrea grinned and nodded. Her laughter was easing up his embarrassed tension and he smiled. "Yup. Seems a few of that critters feathers found their way into my mane." he grinned and took a few steps towards her.
Taking the feathers in his mouth, he padded slowly over to Vuxta, and gently nudged the feathers behind her ear. He then took a gentle massive paw and straightened them so that they stuck out from behind perfectly. "There. They look good on ya." he smiled, though he knew she couldn't see it. But that didn't matter. His green eyes gazed into her gray ones, and he felt happy. Truly happy for the first time in a long while.
"And trust me. You don't need to have sight to tell your one amazing lioness."
