Well, this one was a bit of a surprise for me, since the random pokemon generator has never spit a legendary at me before. This week, we'll be looking at one of the fabled pokemon of the Sinnoh region, Dialga.
"In a void of nothingness, a single egg came into being, which then hatched into Arceus, the first Pokémon to be in existence. Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, and Arceus then gave Dialga control over time and Palkia control over space. Giratina was banished to another dimension for its violent behavior. Then, during the very early formation of the world, Arceus created Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to create willpower, knowledge, and emotion respectively, things that are in all modern humans and Pokémon. They dove to the bottom of present-day Lake Valor, Lake Acuity, and Lake Verity, an act which earned them the name "the lake trio". At that point, Arceus created the Sinnoh region and Mt. Coronet divided the region into two sections. During this violent procedure, Stark Mountain was created and Heatran was formed in lava. Arceus finally created the Adamant, Lustrous and Griseous Orbs before falling into a never-ending sleep at the Hall of Origin. " --Bulbapedia on the creation of the Sinnoh region.
So. Dialga. Sheesh, this guy's a beast. Definitely an uber, and for a very good reason. Lets start of with the base stats:
HP: 100
Attack: 120
Defense: 120
Special Attack: 150
Special Defense: 100
Speed: 90
Some pretty decent stats. This makes him rather versatile. Speed isn't the best out there, but it's still nothing to underestimate. Some of the good things to keep in mind with Dialga for the Uber metagame is:
Typing: Dialga is a Dragon/Steel type, leaving him with two weaknesses: Fighting and Ground. This also gives him 11 resistances. Pretty good. The only downside? Earthquake.
Dragon and Steel STAB: Consider this: Dialga has high special attack. Roar of Time is a high base power special attack that gives you Dragon type STAB. Dialga can also learn Flash Cannon, so there's your high hitting Steel STAB.
Intimidation: No, not the ability, but... I mean, come on, look at it. Who wants to go up against THAT?
Some of the bad things about Dialga are:
Ability: "Dear Gamefreak: All legendaries do not need to have the same crappy ability. Pressure sucks unless the pokemon is going to be a staller. Sincerely, Roland." On the bright side, Dialga has the potential to be a staller.
Earthquake: Dialga's x2 weakness to ground means you have to be careful of this EXTREMELY common move.
He will TEAR YOU A NEW a*****e: Man, don't you hate it when you're just sitting there, watching Link beat the hell out of Wario, when this guy comes in and kills them both by just making NOISE? Man, that's totally lame... oh, wait, wrong game.
So, in short. Dialga. Big guy, strong. His many resistances can make him hard to take out, so... proceed against this guy with caution.
