If the monster has a power boost on its attack and Chaos King Archfiend declares an attack, how do you explain the fact that the monster's new attack does not get a power boost? My brother explained it like this: "The effect that gave the monster's attack a boost cannot reapply if it's still on the field when it's attack and defense are switched." However, the friend he explained it to doesn't get it. Any thoughts?

simple my dear Watson (sorry i've always wanted to say that), Chaos King Archfiend switches the monster's attack and defense, the power boost is already applied, therefore you switch the new attack points with the defense points and it stays that way.

Lets say you have a monster with 1000 ATK and DEF. If they have Axe of Despair equipped when their ATK and DEF are switched it will still be 2000ATK and 1000DEF. If they had a boost earlier in the turn by a none continuous effect such as Rush Recklessly the boost will switch making your monster 1000ATK and 1700DEF.

If the ATK or DEF boost is continuous the boost won't switch. If the boost was a one time effect that boosts it for an amount of time the boost switches.
