I thought you slid it up flat and then it opened out, like a ring, and you just left it there for a certain amount of time :S

Yeah, but for some reason it doesn't go up very far on me. I got mine from Planned Parenthood so they didn't tell me what to do much but I was told form someone else who uses it it's okay to take it out for 2 hours and it should be fine. You leave it in for three weeks, bleed for one, then put in a fresh one.

I took the ring out on thursday to have my period. no blood yet.

It should definitely be much further up than 2inches.. you probably aren't getting any of the hormones from it. It should be right up against the opening of your cervix. Not falling out. When you first start birth control, it can take a while for you to get your period. A couple days or you might not get it at all.

You can call planned parenthood and talk to the receptionist and they will be able to give you proper instructions on how to use it.

Don't have super high expectations about your first period on birth control. It should ease up in a few months.
