Help making a photo transparent

anybody know a free program that will let you make a photo transparent? I don't have photoshop and MS Paint won't let you do it.

Btw, when you say transparent, do you mean making certain parts of a picture blend in with the BG it is used in?

That's strange...

I remember being able to make parts of a photo transparent with MS Paint before. It had something to do with a pinkish purple color and selecting an option. Opaque was the word. You should be able to google a guide up for that. It's really simple...unless of course you want to walk into the world of GIMP. =)

meh don't feel like it. i'll use GIMP. i used it a bit and it's basically Photoshop...but free!!!
