(Enters from Primal Jungles, Pg. 1)
The sun had rising above the horizon line by the time they neared the the oceans of Ryotokai. They had been moving fast, just be sure any sea-going attackers would follow.
Tom was still sitting at the front, a tired look on his face, while Fozzil was up, relaxing on Plado's back. Jenna had fallen asleep as soon as Fozzil woke up.
A moping expression explained Fozzil well. He was still thinking about the people of Kyoryu, whether they made it out alive, what would of happened if Tom didn't arrive when he did and if they could have fought of the incoming army.
Fozzil pushed himself up and turned to Tom, scratching his head.
"Hey, Tom, listen. I'm sorry for ear- Woah!" Fozzil stopped in his speech.
Tom's skin was lightly smoking. Either Tom didn't seem to know it or he wasn't bothered with it.
"Dude, you're smoking! What's happening!" Fozzil asked, hoping he could help.
Plado looked tired, but was still powering through the sea's currents.
Tom turned around, confident that Plado could continue onward. Tom had bags under his black eyes, making him look somewhat scary. He looked at his burning skin and simply laughed.
"Oh this. The price of being born a vampire. One like me can't walk in the sun for too long, or we'll die. The maximum limit for me is 5 hours and this has been my first or second hour, I believe." Tom said, guessing at the time.
"Dying in the sun? How can that happen?" Fozzil asked, inquisitive that warm rays of the sun can kill.
"Well there are various different ways. I could evaporate, catch on fire or even explode violently in flames. They're really over-the-top kinds of death, but only idiot vampires experience that. I'll just have to find shade when we get onto land, or sneak into my coffin, which can only be produced in shade. So either way, shade is good."
Tom looked at the sun, and smiled as the singeing continued.
"I have heard that others of my kind could go on for longer in the sun, but that's all I can do for now. Heheheh..." He laughed sheepishly, lying down on his back.
"Jeez, you guys have it rough, don't you? I don't think I could last like that." Fozzil said, rubbing the back of his head in shock, as he never heard of someone with such limitations.
"Oh, it's a living, especially when you come from a place where practically everyone is like you." Tom replied, still smiling. "I'm surprised you could guys never heard of vampires, then again, my species likes to hide themselves."
"Ha, cowardice in numbers, I see!" Fozzil laughed, lying down as well
"Hey, cowardice for survival's sake, friend." Tom smiled his toothy grin.
He sat up as the sounds of the waves set the mood for a beautiful day. Another hour seemed to have past in silence and relaxation and watching the clouds float by.
~~~~~~~~~~
After what seemed to be the third hour Tom sat up, he grew tired of his burning skin. Tom rolled down his striped sleeves, pulled up his sweater's hood and projected a black energy field behind him to block the shade.
Fozzil sat up and rubbed Jenna's arm. She yawned and awoke the the bright sun, Fozzil and Tom covered completely with shade being produced from behind him.
"What's up with him?" Jenna started. Fozzil pressed a finger to her lip and smiled.
"Long story, lady. He's fine." Fozzil said, as he moved to sit near Tom. Jenna moved across from Fozzil and Tom, forming a triangle.
"So... What are we going to do while we ride the out the wait?" Fozzil asked.
"Beats me. We could talk some more. Ease some tension." Tom told them.
"Sounds good!" Jenna responded. They both pulled closer to Tom, who was worried for a moment.
"How about you tell us more about your people, eh?" Fozzil asked tauntingly playful manner.
"Yes, we haven't been outside the village. You say you travel right? Please tell us about your experiences!" Jenna asked.
"Uh, okay and sure." He said, responding to both of them.
The next few hours was a bout of continued conversation, in which Tom answered questions non-stop from the ravenous, knowledge-hungry Fozzil and Jenna.
"...And that's pretty much it." Tom finished. Fozzil and Jenna seemed to have run out questions for the time being.
The sun slowly began to set again below the horizon. Seeing this, Tom rolled his sleeves back up and bulled his hood down, allowing him to relax for the night.
"You win this round of questions, pal." Fozzil taunted cheerfully. Tom sweat-dropped.
"Oh, Foz, leave the poor kid alone will you." Jenna smacking the back of his head. Fozzil just laughed at the smack-to-the-head.
She thought about the questions Tom had answered, finding the young man to be very knowledgeable, despite his age.
Fozzil said, pointing at the the village, which was somewhat equivalent in size to Kyoryu.
"Wow, very nice workmanship." Jenna said admiring the old-style building craft.
"Ah, it's all as good as I remember it!" Tom sighed in relief, glad that the village didn't end up like Kyoryu.
"Oooo! A new village, I wonder what the people are like." Fozzil said excitedly.
Fozzil then realized Tom's mid-sentence error.
"Hey, weren't you gonna say something, about actually being something?" Fozzil asked.
"Oh? A story for a later time perhaps." Tom smiled at the comment, as they neared the Dock bay of Ryutokai.
