The mall was a lot louder then Kiyoshi would like, often crowded, but he was here to do several things, to visit with his parents who ran a shop here as well as see about getting some new clothing for Tatsuo. The boy had only so much to wear, a lot of it Kiyoshi's old things, not to mention that he was in need of warmer things to wear given the season. The white haired archer looked down at the boy walking at his side before he gave him a smile, "We will see about picking up some clothing for you and then we can see about visiting with your grandparents." He told Tatsuo.
The boy lifted his green eyes to stare up at his father for a long moment before he nodded, hands clinging tightly to one of Kiyoshi's hands, "I... yes." He murmured, looking around the area, wondering why it was that they kept ending up in the middle of such crowded places. At least this time around though it was planned instead of a shock like the day that they had gotten swept up in a crowd, that had been a surprise that Tatsuo didn't like in the least, "I want... a coat. One with a hood and very longs sleeves." He said suddenly, he didn't care for the cold and wanted nothing more then to have a nice coat to hide inside of to avoid the cold.
Kiyoshi nodded, "I think we could find you one of those." He said, giving a smile before he continued forward, heading for the escalator that would bring them to where the children's clothing store was at.

Folbran was, by nature, an audiophile, a lover of noises of all forms and origins. The cacophony of crowded places, in particular, filled him with a certain brand of glee, not unlike anticipation and purpose rolled into one. Like how a happy little firecracker would feel, waiting for his moment at the festival. He felt at ease surrounded by many people going about their lives, worlds colliding and pulling apart at every moment, the sensory overload. No small wonder, then, that he felt right at home at the mall.
He had no real plan for being at the shopping center, really, other than to wander aimlessly, and MAYBE buy a coat, if something jumped out at him. Preferably woolen, a bomber collar, maybe zip-up. Yes, something like that would definitely call for a purchase. Especially with winter coming, his thin summer wear would never do. He had money, of course, Geraldt had padded his wallet a tad before Folbran could head out, when he had explained where he was going. Geraldt was good for that, he was very dependable, and Folbran could always count on Geraldt to surprise him with a little wad of cash or a pretty new pair of sandals. He hoped he wasn't taking advantage of the man.
All this time he spent ruminating, deep in thought, he was drifting through the tiers of the mall, up and down escalators, weaving deftly through the other people who filled the place, snapping his fingers softly. Each click of the two fingers sliding off each other made a little point of light and a pop that may have just sounded through Folbran's own brain, sounding like the crack of gunpowder igniting. He should hope the others couldn't hear them, at least, because the lack of confused stares he should have been drawing due to the noise would be quite alarming. Stopping for a moment, he broke his train of thought, pondering. The pop that sounded, was that just him? Was he going insane? He hoped not, because that would be thoroughly lame.
And as that final thought drifted off, he was left with nothing left but the view directly in front of him, and that was immediately filled with two figures, a tall man with a high ponytail, that he found quite dashing, and a downcast, shy-looking boy that frowned slightly. The next thought that popped into his head, clear and ringing like crystal, was this: What if that boy was smiling? That notion stuck, and he wondered, placing different smiles on the boy's face in his mind's eye. He couldn't help but stare, and he could only hope the other wouldn't look up and meet his curious glance, or even worse, take it the wrong way.

Tatsuo could feel eyes on him and it was something that had the boy squirming ever so slightly before he stepped in closer to his Daddy, hands tightening their hold on him before he turned to look from side to side, trying to figure out what was going on and who was out there. It took him a moment to spot where the boy with the brightly colored hair was standing and his eyes went rather wide, "Kal?" He murmured to himself, then smiled as he lifted a hand to wave at his friend. Wow! How lucky that his friend would end up here at the mall too he thought to himself, "H-Hello!" He called over to the orange haired boy.
His tight hold on his Daddy eased somewhat, relaxing a bit and he seemed to be debating for a moment how he could go about walking over to where his friend was. Tatsuo could have no idea that the one he was waving at wasn't the one he thought that it was. The similar size and coloration had thrown him, the distance between them seemed to help add to his confusion as well as the people that were moving through his sight. It was the perfect set up for a case of mistaken identity that would cause the normally shy boy to greet someone that he didn't even known.
Kiyoshi looked down at Tatsuo who seemed to go from painfully shy to waving and calling out to someone, he looked in the direction he was looking in before spotting the one he was waving at. He starred at Folbran for a moment, not realizing that his son was mixed up by the similarities between the two orange haired boys. Instead he was just thinking and hoping that his son was just learning to be friendly, "You can go over and talk to him." He suggested to the boy who was standing so close to him that he was nearly standing on Kiyoshi's feet.
"G-Go... talk to him?" He asked, looking at the space between where he was and where the other boy was before he nodded, "I... I c-could..." He agreed though it was tough for him to consider walking that distance when there were so many people around. It seemed easier to cling to his father and just wave at his friend instead.

Still buried deep in his own musings, it took Folbran a moment to realize the boy had eased a tad, let a little space grow between himself and his bigger friend (it wasn't much, but it was a start), thrown his hand up, started to wave at him, calling greetings. It was only a little jarring to realize that he had been caught staring long AFTER he'd already been caught, but the look in his eyes mitigated any trace of shock he had. His eyes had smiled, and that was just a step short of what he had been daydreaming, anyway. So he smiled, threw a wave back, called back a casual and very friendly, “Yo!” on back at him.
He was debating in his own head over the same notion that the other boy was having: Should he just go on over and say 'Hello?' He was most certainly NOT bashful, or self-conscious, not in the least, and would have no problem with sauntering right up to the two and introducing himself, but he wondered how the BOY might react, seeing how nervous he looked, still wrapped around his companion's arm. Would he be upset at Folbran? Would he be caught too off-guard to say anything? Or even worse, was he the type that took friendliness as some sort of insult, an invitation to get offended? No, he doubted that last one... He looked like a nice boy, and Folbran was determined to make a new friend if he could.
So, that was his decision. He stood for just a moment longer, composing himself, before pushing through the few people that had gathered in the space between Folbran and his soon-to-be new friend. He conjured up as disarming a smile as he was capable of making, hoping it would do SOMETHING to soften the green-haired boy up.
As he got closer, he was more and more stricken with the boy's features, and when he was close enough for words, he couldn't help but open with, “Hi! I'm sorry, but you've got really pretty eyes, and I wanted to let you know that I was really enjoying them.”

He was coming over he thought to himself in an excited manner, wanting to be able to talk with his nice friend again... though as he got close something surprising suddenly occurred to him only after the other boy spoke to him, talking about his pretty eyes. Wait... wait a second, "Your... your not Kal, are you?" He whispered, feeling his painful shyness starting to creep up inside of him again. He didn't know this person even if he did look a lot like Kal he thought to himself, shifting in place.
It would seem that Tatsuo was, for a moment, struggling with himself and the shyness that he suffered with before speaking again, "Ahh... t-thank you though." He whispered, the boy had been nice, hadn't he? He had complimented is eyes and didn't seem to be put off by his scales so that was good, right? He lifted a hand to rub the back of it against his own, scaly cheek for a moment before giving him a slight smile, "I... I'm called Tatsuo..." He told the other boy finally, thinking that maybe if he were to introduce himself then they wouldn't be strangers anymore, right? If they weren't strangers then he wouldn't be so intimidated by him... Or at least that was the plan, if it worked or not was yet to be seen.
"Umm... w-what about you?" He asked, since he knew that this wasn't Kal that mean that he had no idea who he was... he did have the same, nice scent as the other pocky boys he'd met which made him wonder if he were one of them as well... though perhaps he had just eaten some candy of late? Hard to tell really.

He really was too cute, this boy, this Tatsuo. The soft whisper that issued forth, the downturned eyes, Folbran couldn't help but find himself taken by them. Though it held no bearing on what would be said or what had already been said, Folbran hadn't even noticed the boy's scales, wouldn't have noticed if he did. “Hmm... Kal? Nup! 'ts'not me, sorry!” The slightest traces of the accent he acquired whenever he was excited started to peek, and he hoped he'd stay intelligible. “'ts'a pleasure to meet you though, Tatsuo! You can call me Folbran, if you like!”
He had held out his hand for the common trope of introduction, but before he could even offer it up, the boy was rubbing his cheek with the hand that would match his own. The gesture was incredibly cute, but he was still left with his hand hanging out and he couldn't help but feel betrayed in his secret heart of hearts, deprived of the satisfaction. He mock-winced, pulling his hand back up, stroking his bright fiery hair in the common gesture that epitomized awkwardness. “Oooooh...” he moaned, giggling. “Harsh.”
He had a good feeling about it though, he felt like they were well-met. He could already feel Tatsuo warming up to him, he just hoped he could keep it consistent.

Folbran... his name was Folbran, most certainly not Kal... how embarrassing! Tatsuo's cheeks colored a bit at the mistake he'd made, "Ahh... I-I'm sorry... you both have very bright, orange hair and eyes..."He explained, hoping that the other boy wouldn't be terribly upset with him for thinking that he was someone else... but it didn't seem so, he was introducing himself right? Saying it was a pleasure to meet him... he couldn't be mad if he were saying things like that, surely?
He blinked as he noticed that he'd missed something as Folbran was drawing his hand back, "Oh..." He murmured, oh no... what had he missed? A hand shake, maybe? Or a high five? Something of that like he was sure... and when Folbran said 'harsh' Tatsuo's cheeks turned a darker shade of red. Oh, no... he hadn't meant to do anything harsh! He ducked his head, his messy hair fell into his face, "I'm sorry, Folbran! I didn't mean to miss your greeting!" He said in a rushed whisper, wanting to make it up to him, to fix it, he might not be Kal but he was still someone very nice that he wanted to make friends with!

"Somebody else is running around with orange hair and orange eyes?" Folbran played at relief and heaved a heavy sigh. "That's the best news I've gotten all day; I thought it was just me! I thought I was weird!" He giggled, but stopped, embarassed, when he saw just how red the other boy was getting. He hadn't meant to upset him, quite the opposite! He was hoping for that smile he knew was hiding in there, for the tiniest chuckle. He was so unique, so different than what Folbran was used to, that was probably what made him so appealing.
"Heehee, don't worry about it! I was only playing, you know." The irony of the situation was unfortunately hidden to him; the fact that they were both afraid they'd upset the other with their good intentions surely would have made him giggle any other time. Folbran glanced quickly up at Tatsuo's older companion, praying fervently that he wasn't rubbing off as irritating. The last thing he wanted was to be shooed off by the man, though he doubted that would happen. He wondered if he should offer up the hand again, but decided against it, not wanting to look jumpy. Instead, he smiled. "Tatsuo... that's a pretty name!"

He gave a slow nod of his head, "Ahh... yes, Kal, hes just as brightly colored as you are." He said, then shook his head rapidly, "Oh, no... no! Your not weird at all!" If either of them were weird it was him, he was the one with the scales after all. This boy was far from weird, he just had brightly colored hair and eyes was all, nothing more, and certainly nothing weird.
Only playing? That was a relief. He'd been worried that he might be bothering him... that he wasn't, that was a good thing. He gave the a slight smile then, missing the look toward his Dad that Folbran gave before the boy was talking to him again, complimenting his name in a manner that made his almost white cheeks flush, "Thank you... that's nice of you to say." Now compliments weren't something that he wasn't used to but he found himself liking them even if it was only his name being complimented.
From not to far away Kiyoshi watched the awkward pair as they tried to get used to each other, not wanting to interfere. It wasn't often that his son approached someone on his own. While he'd figured out that he had mixed up this boy with another of his friends the fact that Tatsuo hadn't run back over to him was a good sign.
