The great brown dragon Waroth stretched out across his occupied ledge on the bowl. He had recently feasted and the signs of his latest meal poked at the insides of his stomach. He raised his head slowly, jaws parting as he belched, ignoring the rebuke from his rider who sat nestled against his ribs.
"There's no need for that brown of mine." She spoke aloud from where she sat reading from a scrap of old hide. "Mind your manners."
It is nothing but a sign of a good meal. The dragon chuckled, stretching out rather like a contented cat. Then this time when his jaws opened a yawn broke free, his tongue curling between rows of delicate but vicious teeth.
"Very well." Blyir replied with a sigh, brushing back a lock of greying hair that was insisting on blocking her view. She glanced up again at the contented hum of her dragon and gave him a strange and slightly amused look. "You're happy today aren't you?"
What reason is there not to be? Enelth won his queen, I have fed and the Weyr is returning to what it should be. I thought you would feel the same?
"You have a valid point my love." She replied, pausing in her reading to scratch his soft brown hide. "You are a picture of health, the finest brown around."
Finer than Tallith? Waroth teased lightly, seeking a compliment from his rider.
"Much finer, he doesn't deserve to bear the hide of a brown." Blyir's cheerful demeanour broke a little but was regained soon after, "you are 100 dragonlengths better than him my dear."

Waroth released a low rumbling sound as the green blinked out from between not too far away from their position on the ledge and craned his head up to catch a glimpse of the female dragon as she swooped towards them. Then with a whirl of cheerful green-blue eyes he touched his rider's mind, Annoth approaches. Then the great beast drew himself up and tucked his wings against his sides to make more room for the other as she came to land.
When he next spoke it was for Annoth alone, feed well? He paid little attention to the rider until he approached.
Blyir looked up as the other cleared his throat and gave rose her eyebrows as if surprised. She knew she didn't have too many friends in the Weyr, and she didn't think she'd seen this rider before.
"Hello there green rider, what can I help you with this fine day?"

Waroth settled himself again, shifting his weight and extending a little so they could catch the sun's warmth. Then with a low rumble he lidded his eyes and lay his head upon his forepaws in order to sleep. He was tired after feasting and the sun was only adding to his drowsiness.
The woman's eyebrows rose a little as she caught sight of what he had been looking for and tilted her head. "A journal? Where did you find it?"
Blyir watched the rider with interest, trying to pin-point where she had seen him before, and then it registered. "Ah ha, you're in M'xan's wing aren't you? The Twilight wing?" She inclined her head, "I'm Blyir, his Wingsecond."

He seemed nervous for a reason that Blyir couldn't make out. She wasn't that bad a tyrant was she? Perhaps her reputation had risen above what she truly was. A thin-lipped smile crossed her face, the type a serpent would give it's prey before it struck.
She rose to her feet and drew the book from his fingers to gaze at it herself. "Hmm..."
Waroth exhaled noisily, eyes opening slithers as he gazed at the journal through his rider's eyes. Recognise it? He sounded drowsy as he spoke.
I'm not sure. She replied silently to the brown beast before flicking through the pages. Many of them were still blank.
"At first glance I can't say that I do. The only thought occurs to me is that maybe it was left behind at the turnover gather." Many people had been flocking in and out of the Weyr that day.
